Così come per il Moto Z, una delle principali features del Moto Z Play è la sua espandibilità tramite Moto Mods. Questi moduli saranno supportati per almeno tre generazioni di dispositivi secondo Lenovo. Tuttavia, i clienti devono mettere mano al portafogli prima di tutto. Anche se potrebbe sembrare insensato, guardando il Moto Z Play è raccomandabile: con il suo SoC Snapdragon 625 frugale e mai sufficientemente potente, ha una autonomia molto ampia, lo schermo convince con l'elevato contrasto e i buoni angoli di visuale, e il case fatto in vetro e metallo sembra di prima classe. Inoltre, il modello recensito offre quasi tutto quello che potete desiderare dalla funzione dual-SIM, NFC, porta USB Type-C e lettore di impronte digitali - oltre al jack da 3.5-mm. Una delle poche pecche è il poco affidabile auto-focus della fotocamera principale.

Considerando la notevole differenza di prezzo di oltre 200 Euro tra il Moto Z e il Moto Z Play le mancanze del modello più economico in alcuni aspetti sono sorprendenti. Se potete rinunciare ad un po' di definizione dello schermo, al design molto sottile, e alle riserve di potenza a favore di una autonomia quasi doppia andrete molto bene con il Moto Z Play.

Una interessante alternativa basata su SoC Snapdragon 625 potrebbe essere l'Asus ZenFone 3. La qualità di costruzione del dispositivo è elevata e ha un buon pacchetto software di fabbrica. Tuttavia, diversamente dal Moto Z Play, non ha NFC o espandibilità modulare. Coloro che vogliono potenza high-end con un prezzo da fascia media saranno curiosi di vedere la prossima recensione dello ZTE Axon 7.
