Quattro cores per l'ufficio. Per la prima volta, Dell monta su uno dei suoi dispositivi da ufficio il nuovo processore ULV-Hyperthreading Quad-core i5-8250U. Quali benefici in termini di prestazioni offre questa scelta, e come si comporta il dispositivo con le temperature, la rumorosità e i consumi? Il case e i dispositivi di input sono convincenti, ma ci sono un paio di cose che potrebbero far pensare i potenziali acquirenti.

I tempi di risposta del display mostrano quanto sia veloce lo schermo a cambaire da un colore all'altro. Tempi di risposta lenti poccono creare sovrapposizioni negloi oggetti in movimento. Specialmente i giocatori patiti del 3D dovrebbero usare uno schermo con rempi di risposta bassi.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Ignorando l'autonomia limitata, i riflessi dello schermo e il PWM a 200 Hz, il Dell Inspiron 13 7370 non ha evidenti pecche.

I quattro cores con Hyperthreading sono sicuramente un miglioramento rispetto al precedente modello, e non ci sono né problemi termici, né incrementi dei consumi evidenti nel nostro dispositivo di test. Tuttavia, siamo dell'idea che la maggioranza di utenti da ufficio non troverà utile usare gli otto threads e in linea di massima lo sfrutterà come un tradizionale processore ULV Dual-core con Hyperthreading. Questo ovviamente non vale nel caso che si sfruttino software ben ottimizzati da usare in parallelo.

Il motivo per cui Dell sceglie un display con rifinitura lucida resta un mistero, sebbene non abbiamo avuto grossi problemi con i riflessi. Lo schermo dovrebbe essere un po' più luminoso e con una maggiore copertura del colore, l'SD card reader tortura i fotografi con la lentezza dei processi di copia, e non è facile procedere alla manutenzione.

Di positivo, la buona costruzione, il case solido, e il design compatto e leggero, così come le temperature e la silenziosità, oltre agli ottimi dispositivi di input. Il Inspiron 7370 non raggiunge una valutazione "molto buono", sebbene non ci siano motivi per non raccomandarlo. Il dispositivo più simile in termini di design compatto è l'HP Spectre 13, che è più piatto, ha un SSD NVMe più veloce ed offre porte USB Type C di seconda generazione con Thunderbolt. Tuttavia, è più rumoroso e con una ventola fastidiosa, non ha un lettore SD Card e non sfrutta in pieno la modalità turbo.
