Recensione del mini PC Nofflink M500: PC da ufficio e client di streaming ad alta efficienza energetica con SoC Intel e 32 GB di RAM

Computer da ufficio compatto. Il Nofflink M500 è un mini PC per l'uso quotidiano in ufficio. In questa recensione, daremo un'occhiata più da vicino al modello base con Intel Pentium Gold 5405U.

Come Morefine o MinisForum, Nofflink è un produttore di sistemi cinese specializzato in mini PC compatti. La serie M500 di Nofflink si rivolge agli utenti d'ufficio. Tuttavia, l'M500 è adatto anche all'uso come client di streaming. Lo chassis ospita componenti collaudati, che in questo caso significa SoC Intel Whiskey Lake e Intel Comet Lake. Per l'uso quotidiano in ufficio, i processori un po' datati offrono comunque prestazioni decenti.

La nostra configurazione di prova è il modello base Nofflink con il processore Intel Pentium Gold 5405U. In combinazione con 32 GB di RAM e un'unità SSD da 512 GB, il dispositivo è sicuramente in grado di offrire prestazioni elevate. Certo, 32 GB potrebbero essere un po' eccessivi e quindi la versione da 16 GB non dovrebbe presentare inconvenienti. Curiosamente, Nofflink non elenca nemmeno il modello da 32 GB sul proprio negozio web. I potenziali clienti che desiderano la nostra configurazione possono aspettarsi di pagare circa 400 dollari. Nel frattempo, il modello di punta è basato su un Intel Core i7 10510U e su un'unità SSD da 1 TB e costa circa 600 dollari. Si tratta di un prezzo equo e convincente per un mini PC veloce e compatto.

Custodia e caratteristiche

Il Nofflink M500 è costituito principalmente da alluminio, che rende il dispositivo molto rigido. Sebbene il dispositivo appaia per lo più grigio sul sito web del produttore, a un'analisi più attenta si nota una netta sfumatura verde. In termini di aspetto generale, questo non è uno svantaggio. Non ci sono spigoli vivi e il dispositivo sembra di qualità superiore. Se necessario, il coperchio del dispositivo può essere rimosso rapidamente.

Per quanto riguarda le interfacce esterne, il Nofflink M500 offre molte opzioni per le periferiche esterne. In totale sono presenti sei porte USB di tipo-A e una porta USB di tipo-C. Pertanto, l'M500 offre esattamente lo stesso numero di porte del Morefine S500+. Tuttavia, due delle porte sono limitate all'interfaccia USB 2.0. Gli utenti possono scegliere HDMI, DisplayPort o USB type-C per l'uscita video. In questo modo è possibile collegare fino a tre schermi contemporaneamente. Non è presente un lettore di schede SD.

Per la comunicazione wireless, Nofflink si affida al modulo Wi-Fi Intel AX201. Supporta il Wi-Fi 6 nelle bande a 2,4 e 5 GHz. Nei nostri benchmark sulle prestazioni, il Nofflink M500 ottiene buoni risultati, anche se con un margine significativo rispetto alla media dei PC desktop. In alternativa, il mini PC offre una porta Ethernet tradizionale con supporto per 2,5 Gb/s.

Prestazioni

Processore

Come suggerisce il nome, il Nofflink M500-5405U usa un Intel Pentium Gold 5405U. Il SoC da 15 watt fa parte della famiglia Whiskey Lake-U e offre due core fisici, che possono elaborare fino a quattro thread contemporaneamente a una frequenza massima di 2,3 GHz.

In un confronto diretto, gli svantaggi del SoC dual-core nativo diventano evidenti. Il Newsmay AC6 si comporta leggermente meglio nei nostri benchmark multi-thread, anche se le prestazioni single-core del Nofflink M500 sono leggermente superiori. La veloce CPU octa-core di AMD lascia comunque nella polvere il nostro Intel Pentium Gold 5405U. Questo dato corrisponde alle nostre aspettative e non ci sorprende. A scopo di confronto, abbiamo incluso anche il Intel Core i7-10510U nel nostro grafico. Questo mostra le prestazioni approssimative che gli utenti possono aspettarsi da questo SoC, disponibile anche per il Nofflink M500.

Soluzione di stoccaggio

La nostra configurazione del Nofflink M500 è dotata di un'unità SSD M.2 2280 da 512 GB. La maggior parte degli utenti probabilmente non conoscerà il produttore Qunion. Il modello utilizza l'interfaccia SATA e ha ottenuto risultati solidi nei nostri test. All'interno del case è presente anche uno slot per un'unità di archiviazione secondaria da 2,5 pollici. Sono inclusi tutti i cavi e le viti necessari per l'installazione.

Prestazioni della GPU

Il ben noto Intel UHD Graphics 610 serve come unità grafica del Nofflink M500. Con 12 EU e una velocità di clock fino a 950 MHz, è adatta solo per semplici applicazioni 2D. Anche le applicazioni 3D di base possono portare il Intel UHD Graphics 610 in ginocchio. Pertanto, gli utenti dovrebbero evitare di utilizzare l'Intel Graphics 610 per applicazioni diverse da quelle d'ufficio.

Per quanto riguarda i livelli di rumore, ci aspettavamo di poter misurare risultati migliori. Durante il funzionamento al minimo, il sistema è spesso completamente silenzioso, anche se a volte la ventola può diventare temporaneamente attiva. Sotto carico, la ventola produce un livello di rumore costante di circa 39,1 dB(A). Durante il nostro stress test, abbiamo misurato un valore ancora più alto di 45,5 dB(A). Questo fa pensare a un portatile da gioco con un livello di prestazioni molto più elevato. Nel frattempo, abbiamo misurato un massimo di 41,6 dB(A) dal Morefine S500+ nello stesso scenario.

Temperatura

I nostri test di carico iniziali danno un'impressione favorevole del raffreddamento del SoC. Detto questo, la soluzione di raffreddamento dell'Intel Pentium Gold 5405U è al limite nel nostro scenario di carico estremo. HWiNFO riporta un throttling termico, suggerendo che Nofflink ha definito la temperatura massima del SoC a circa 80 °C (176 °F). Senza limiti stabiliti dal produttore, l'Intel Pentium Gold 5405U consente di raggiungere i 100 °C (212 °F). In media, il clock della CPU, quando sia la CPU che l'iGPU sono sotto sforzo, scende a soli 1,2 GHz. Questo è il risultato del budget di alimentazione limitato a 10 watt, che la CPU e l'iGPU devono condividere.

Poiché il case si riscalda notevolmente sotto carico, dovrebbe essere collocato in un'area ben ventilata per consentire la fuoriuscita del calore.

Il Nofflink M500-5405U è un mini PC molto compatto. Il piccolo PC basato sul processore Intel Pentium Gold 5405U non è adatto a carichi troppo impegnativi. Purtroppo, il produttore non ha optato per uno dei più recenti SoC sul mercato e questo si vede. La CPU dual-core nativa si è comunque comportata egregiamente nei nostri test. Detto questo, questa configurazione del Nofflink M500 non è adatta a qualcosa che vada al di là di semplici attività d'ufficio, navigazione web o streaming video. A questo proposito, il Intel Core i7-10510U ha un potenziale molto maggiore.

Sebbene 32 GB di RAM siano una bella dotazione, non è molto di più, poiché è improbabile che la maggior parte degli utenti sfrutti l'elevata capacità di RAM in questa configurazione. Pertanto, una configurazione con 16 GB di RAM sarà probabilmente una scelta migliore e anche con 8 GB, corrisponde alla quantità standard di memoria di sistema della maggior parte dei dispositivi compatti per ufficio.

Il Nofflink M500 è un PC da ufficio compatto con molte porte esterne. Sfortunatamente, il mancato utilizzo di SoC più moderni lascia sul tavolo un notevole potenziale di prestazioni.

L'M500 offre buone opzioni di connettività con tutte le principali interfacce esterne presenti. La mancanza di un lettore di schede può essere colmata con l'aiuto di un adattatore USB grazie alla quantità sufficiente di porte disponibili.

Il più grande svantaggio del Nofflink M500 che abbiamo sperimentato è la soluzione di raffreddamento, che raggiunge rapidamente i suoi limiti sotto carico.
