Newsmay Technology è un produttore di sistemi cinese specializzato in piccoli PC da ufficio. Siamo già stati in grado di dare un'occhiata al loro Mini PC estremamente piccolo, il Newsmay AC6-M. Il Newsmay AC8 non è così piccolo, ma il Mini PC è ancora abbastanza compatto a 127 x 127 millimetri. Fortunatamente, la centrale di calcolo, che è alta solo circa 5 centimetri, è raffreddata passivamente.

Con il processore Intel Pentium Silver N6005il piccolo PC da ufficio offre un SoC quad-core nativo, che è sicuramente in grado di gestire i compiti quotidiani dell'ufficio. Grazie alla serie Jasper-Lake, il SoC è prodotto in un processo a 10 nm, e gestisce un TDP fino a 10 watt. Custodia e connettività

Con 127 x 127 millimetri, il Mini PC non occupa molto spazio su una scrivania. Il case completamente nero è fatto di plastica ed è molto robusto. Le superfici soft-touch sono di alta qualità. Tuttavia, rimane un retrogusto amaro perché le superfici attraggono letteralmente le particelle di polvere. La consistenza ruvida li rende anche difficili da rimuovere.

Newsmay ha dato all'AC8 un'unità di raffreddamento passivo. Ci sono molte prese d'aria ai lati e nella parte superiore per far uscire il calore di scarto dal case. C'è un piccolo sportello di manutenzione sul fondo. I componenti installati possono essere rapidamente accessibili dietro di esso, e possono essere sostituiti o aggiornati se necessario. Anche il modulo WLAN può essere cambiato, dato che si tratta di un modulo M.2. Inoltre, due moduli SO-DIMM e un SSD M.2 si trovano qui. Purtroppo, non è possibile installare una seconda unità di archiviazione di massa nel dispositivo.

Il Newsmay AC8 offre molte opzioni per la connessione di dispositivi esterni. Le porte si trovano nella parte anteriore e posteriore. Prestazioni della CPU dell'AC8 in dettaglio

Newsmay Technology ci ha fornito la versione dell'AC8 che è basata sull'Intel Pentium Silver N6005. Il frugale SoC da 10 watt ha una velocità di clock di base di 2 GHz e arriva fino a 3,3 GHz in modalità Turbo. Il totale di quattro core di elaborazione nativi offre una prestazione solida che è sufficiente per semplici compiti d'ufficio. I 4 GB di RAM sono un po' limitati a nostro parere, qualcosa che può essere notato occasionalmente quando si lavora. L'AC8 può essere equipaggiato con un massimo di 32 GB.

La nostra recensione mostra che le prestazioni del nostro campione di prova sono migliori di quelle dell AC6-Mche è anche di Newsmay Technology. IlBeelink GK Mini e laGMK NucBox K1 sono anche dotati di un SoC un po' più debole, quindi non possono tenere il passo con il Newsmay AC8. Prestazioni del sistema

Nel benchmark sintetico PCMark 10, il Newsmay AC8 offre una performance migliore delNewsmay AC6-M grazie al SoC più veloce. Tuttavia, le sue prestazioni sono chiaramente in ritardo rispetto ai diffusi modelli Core i5. Il Newsmay AC8 ha anche problemi durante la riproduzione di contenuti 4K. A questo proposito, abbiamo dovuto lottare con latenze significativamente elevate fin dall'inizio. Durante la riproduzione del video di prova 4K, il carico medio dell'iGPU era di circa il 50%. I molti fotogrammi caduti si sono accumulati durante la riproduzione. Questo suggerisce che i 4 GB di RAM sono semplicemente troppo pochi. Quando si aprono diverse schede del browser, il sistema impiega alcuni secondi per rispondere di volta in volta, il che rende difficile lavorare senza problemi. Temperatura

Sulla base dei primi test di carico, ci era già chiaro che il Newsmay AC8 raggiunge rapidamente i limiti termici dell'Intel Pentium Silver N6005 con il suo sistema di raffreddamento passivo. Di conseguenza, abbiamo registrato una temperatura massima di 91 °C (~196 °F) nello stress test. Tuttavia, c'è ancora un piccolo margine rispetto al massimo ufficiale di 105 °C (~221 °F) specificato da Intel. Tuttavia, c'è ancora un po' di throttling termico, qualcosa che abbiamo visto anche nel Cinebench R15 multi loop. Newsmay sembra aver definito il limite a 90 °C (~196 °F) qui.

Il case si è riscaldato notevolmente sotto carico, e dovrebbe essere collocato in un luogo ben ventilato per permettere al calore residuo di dissiparsi correttamente.

Il Newsmay AC8 è un Mini PC compatto e silenzioso. Basato sull'Intel Pentium Silver N6005, offre una prestazione solida, che è sufficiente per semplici compiti d'ufficio o per navigare in Internet. A nostro parere, la RAM molto limitata di 4 GB si è rivelata il punto debole. Questo ha impedito una migliore prestazione soggettiva complessiva. Abbiamo ripetutamente sperimentato brevi ritardi, che sono stati causati da un eccessivo utilizzo della RAM. Tuttavia, questa situazione non dovrebbe influenzare troppo la valutazione complessiva, poiché Newsmay vende l'AC8 come sistema barebone senza RAM e SSD. Pertanto, gli acquirenti avranno l'imbarazzo della scelta nel decidere cosa costruire nel sistema.

Gli utenti che vogliono acquistare il Newsmay AC8 dovrebbero sicuramente considerare di scegliere la variante Pentium. Le configurazioni alternative offrono SoC più frugali, ma di conseguenza anche meno prestazioni. Un sistema per piccoli uffici, tuttavia, non ha bisogno di meno prestazioni per poter lavorare bene.

Il Newsmay AC8 offre una buona configurazione di porte, ed è facile da inserire su una scrivania grazie alle sue dimensioni compatte.

La connettività dell'AC8 è buona, e tutte le interfacce esterne necessarie sono presenti. C'è anche un lettore di schede, ma supporta solo il formato microSD. Ci sarebbe piaciuto vedere almeno una velocità USB 3.0 qui, però.
