Similmente alle nostre conclusioni tra Skylake XPS 13 9350 e Kaby Lake XPS 13 9360, la Skylake GL502VM e la Kaby Lake GL502VM sono essenzialmente intercambiabili. Anche i giocatori difficilmente troveranno degli evidenti vantaggi nell'aggiornamento Kaby Lake specialmente dopo aver valutato i titoli più moderni. La Kaby Lake GL502VM sarebbe stata più raccomandabile se avesse avuto una maggiore autonomia, temperature inferiori, e una ventola meno rumorosa. Sfortunatamente, i nostri rilevi non mostrano nulla di tutto questo.

La serie GL502 è ancora una potente soluzione mainstream per gamers che vogliono considerare anche le serie MSI GE/GS, la serie HP Omen, la serie Lenovo Y, o o la serie Dell Inspiron Gaming. Per fortuna Asus aggiunge altre features alla famiglia GL502 dopo il semplice aggiornamento di CPU. Ci sono opzioni come Thunderbolt 3 o display da 120 Hz/5 ms o anche aggiornamenti software con un miglior controllo della ventola e settaggi di potenza.

Il GL502VM è attraente e con uno chassis relativamente leggero e robusto. Sembra più un barebones di quanto non sia, con limitate opzioni hardware rispetto alla concorrenza. La rumosità della ventola e l'autonomia sono particolarmente deludenti sul test del nostro PC Xotic e la nuova CPU Kaby Lake non fornisce alcun beneficio gaming rispetto alla Skylake SKU.
