Reviewing Samsung's Galaxy S26 Plus (Exynos 2600 model from the UK), after testing it as my full-time phone for a week. Here's my thoughts on the camera abilities, battery life, gaming performance and everyday real-world use. Is the Samsung S26 Plus a weak alternative to that Ultra smartphone? Well, vs the Ultra, you have few real upgrades here. In fact, thanks to the switch from Snapdragon to Exynos, this generation isn't as strong for battery performance compared with the previous generation. The Samsung S26 Plus can still play the latest, most demanding games like Wuthering Waves, but don't expect to spend long before the power is drained. This big-screen Galaxy phone sports a sadly familiar camera setup, although the good news is that image processing has been slightly improved. The Samsung S26 Plus can take quite crisp night photos, although it still occasionally struggles with action pics with kids and pets. Likewise, the zoom camera isn't so hot in low light.

EN→ITThe Samsung Galaxy S26+ sits as the middle child in Samsung’s latest flagship lineup. While the regular Samsung Galaxy S26 starts at Rs 87,999, the S26+ comes in at Rs 1,19,990, placing it in a slightly different bracket. It offers a larger display and battery than the vanilla model, along with a more premium overall experience. For a deeper dive into its performance and positioning, you can check out our full Samsung Galaxy S26+ review. This article offers a concise breakdown of what works well and a few aspects buyers should keep in mind.

EN→ITThe Galaxy S26 Plus is by no means a bad phone, and One UI 8.5 makes it a joy to use thanks to a silky UI and tons of new and upgraded AI features. However, with a starting price that's $100 more than its predecessor, it's becoming harder to justify buying the S26 Plus over its more interesting and well-equipped Ultra sibling, making this phone hard to recommend.

EN→ITThe Samsung Galaxy S26+, much like its rivals in this segment, isn’t a true all-rounder. It shines in certain areas, but there are a few aspects where it falls short. Starting with the drawbacks, the phone offers a capable and reliable camera system that performs well across most scenarios. But, it loses its edge when compared against the more camera-focused flagships, especially the Vivo X300 Pro.

EN→ITThe Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus gets most of the fundamentals right. The display is strong and consistent, the software experience is refined, and performance is smooth for everyday use. The camera system is dependable, and the overall experience feels stable across different use cases. However, it falls short in areas that matter for long-term usability. The heating issues during both light and heavy usage are difficult to overlook. The redesigned camera module also introduces practical inconveniences, from wobble to dust accumulation. This is a phone that works well for general use and media consumption, but it is not ideal for users who prioritise sustained performance, especially in gaming. It remains a well-rounded flagship, but some rough edges are hard to ignore.

EN→ITIf I’m going to be completely honest, and so as not to beat around the bush, while I can and would recommend this phone to people, at the $200 higher price point, I would only say you should buy this device if you want the larger display and larger battery, which doesn’t last as long, at least in my case. For me personally, I prefer the larger display for mobile games and for watching videos. If you have smaller hands and don’t like larger phones, then you’re better off spending less money and getting the Galaxy S26 instead. They’re both essentially the same exact phone. Where the only real differences are the display size, resolution, and battery capacity. Both phones are good. So, if you don’t care about the larger display, get the Galaxy S26. If you want the larger display, get the Galaxy S26 Plus.

EN→ITThe Galaxy S26 and S26+ are easily some of the best Android phones you can buy. They’re faster and longer-lasting than almost anything in their price range, and their displays and designs remain some of the slickest around. The S26+ is particularly compelling, as you’re getting a fantastic 6.7-inch screen for a little less than the price of other big phones like the iPhone 17 Pro Max, Pixel 10 Pro XL and Samsung’s own Galaxy S26 Ultra. But with these phones now starting at $900 for the S26 and $1,100 for the S26+, the math gets a little trickier.

EN→ITSamsung Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ are another careful and exclusively evolutionary update of the line. These are traditional modern successful flagships with high-quality screens, top performance, a universal set of cameras that shoot well, a user-friendly interface with the prospect of major updates in the next 8 years, a classic pleasant design and protection of the case from dirt and water according to the IP68 standard. Of the technical complaints, the only thing that can be noted is the heating of the Exynos 2600 under prolonged loads (which will be noticeable only to gamers) and the lack of autofocus in the ultra-wide-angle camera.

EN→ITI like to imagine the kind of person who would want to buy a phone as I wrap up a review, but I'm struggling with the Galaxy S26 Plus. It's not a case of it being a bad phone — it does everything you could ask of a premium Samsung phone. But the target audience feels very narrow. On its face, the S26 Plus still looks like good value compared to other flagship phones available today if you're purely interested in screen space, even accounting for the higher price. For photography or battery life, the Ultra does it better, while also offering unique elements like its Privacy Display. For performance, or AI features, the standard S26 does all the same things as the S26 Plus, but for less money.

EN→ITAnother year, another Galaxy S Plus model that tastes like reheated leftovers. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing inherently wrong with the Galaxy S26 Plus—it's a boringly decent phone that's sadly outshined by its slightly pricier, better-camera-wielding, and S Pen-featuring Galaxy S26 Ultra cousin. The whole existence of the Galaxy S26 Plus is questionable to me, as the economic side of owning one doesn't really make sense. If you're already spending $1,100 on a Galaxy S26 Plus, it certainly makes sense to splurge on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, where you get a better camera, a display with better features, significantly better performance, and an S Pen stylus.

EN→ITSamsung is once again playing things extremely safe with its flagships. No new product names and categories, no major changes, no big shakeups in the performance or design areas, and no interesting upgrades. What we get is a very familiar pair of devices that retain their major selling points and key differentiators but start to look a bit boring when superimposed on the current Android market. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is the phone that maximalists and power users will inevitably pick, as it will most certainly end up being the most powerful Android phone available in the US for the foreseeable future. With the best camera and most features and functionalities on board, it will be the expensive but no-compromise phone to get in early 2026.

EN→ITThe Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus in 2026 appears to be the most balanced flagship in the series, offering a middle ground between compactness and advanced functionality. With its larger 6.7-inch display and a 4,900 mAh battery, it serves as a capable daily device for users who prioritize battery life and comfortable content consumption. While the camera setup remains familiar, the powerful hardware platform and deep integration of AI features provide reliable performance and help keep the device relevant for years. It represents a pragmatic choice for users who value premium build quality, extended software support of up to seven years, and proven ergonomics without paying extra for the specific features of the Ultra model.

EN→ITNone of this means the Galaxy S26+ is a bad phone - far from it. It's polished, powerful and dependable in all the ways we expect from a modern Samsung flagship. But in a market full of excellent alternatives and even stronger options within Samsung's own ecosystem, it ends up being a tough sell. If you specifically want a large Galaxy S phone but don't need the Ultra's extra camera hardware or S Pen, the S26+ will serve you very well. For everyone else, however, there are simply more compelling choices out there.

EN→ITThe Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus was announced on February 25, 2026 and became available on March 6, 2026. It continues Samsung’s flagship lineup with a premium design and a large, vibrant display. The phone features a 6.7-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X panel with a sharp 1440 × 3120 resolution and a pixel density of about 516 ppi, which makes text and images look extremely crisp. It also supports a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and an impressive peak brightness of 2600 nits, so the screen remains clear even in bright sunlight. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while the body uses Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on both the front and back with a sturdy Armor Aluminum 2 frame.

EN→ITThe Samsung Galaxy S26+ is a solid flagship device delivering what you’d expect, without rewriting the rule book or offering anything particularly unique. If you’re after a large-screen flagship that’s great for gaming and video streaming, but don’t want to stretch to the S26 Ultra’s asking price, the Galaxy S26+ fits the bill well. You’ll get one of the best AI implementations, too, with the blend of Galaxy AI, Bixby, and Google Gemini providing a comprehensive suite of tools to dig into. However, if you want a big-screen flagship which gives you serious bang-for-buck, the OnePlus 15 would be the better choice with more power under the hood, fantastic battery life, and a lower price tag.

EN→ITNow, should you buy the Samsung Galaxy S26+? This is such a tough question to answer, honestly. I have to use the Malaysian pricing for this part so your consensus may vary because I am going to compare with the previous generation’s price. At the time of scripting this review, the entire S26 series is actually way much more expensive than the previous generation. This is also the first price hike that I’ve seen that is caused by the global DRAM shortage that effects RAM and SSD, but the price is quite egregious to say the least. Now, you might say other brands are very low in price – so why not get those? Well, their price hikes are coming soon too.But in the uniqueness of the Galaxy S26+, I’d say you can just get it now and score the free double storage upgrade, or wait till the price drops. I’m not sure how much the price will drop since there’s a DRAM shortage that we still don’t see the end of. In any case, I assume Samsung will bring the latest One UI 8.5 alongside all of the new features to the previous generations as well, but at a later date. And since we have that in mind, maybe you can also consider getting the S25+ too. The price of that is waaaaaaaaaay lower right now.

EN→ITWhile all three of the new Galaxy S26 phones are excellent, the S26 Ultra is the standout. It’s the most expensive of the range, though oddly, it has had a smaller price increase than the others. Its multiple cameras, super-fast processor and unique Privacy Display are the standouts and make it the leading Android phone from any brand. While the smaller, more affordable S26 and S26 Plus lack some of these standouts, they are beautifully designed and effective, with strong performance, including for Samsung’s latest AI features.

EN→ITThe Samsung Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus are modest upgrades to the series, bringing back the same camera hardware as the S25 and S25 Plus, while upgrading night video, adding APV codec support, and including some smart creative AI editing and productivity tools. The main hardware change this year is the processor, making the pair a likely safe bet without being a compelling upgrade for S24 or S25 owners.

EN→ITThe Galaxy S26 series is not a radical new start. The design and camera continue to develop cautiously, but there are no real hardware revolutions. Instead, Samsung is clearly shifting the focus towards AI, display technology, and system integration. The Ultra remains the most exciting model – primarily because of the display and the new AI functions. At the same time, the S26 and S26+ also benefit from the new software approach. Anyone expecting a classic hardware upgrade may be disappointed. Those who want to see where smartphones are heading as personal assistance systems will get a very interesting outlook here. The detailed test will show whether this is enough to hold its own against the increasingly strong competition from China, and we are also expecting one or two other innovations around the MWC in Barcelona.

EN→ITThe new Samsung Galaxy S26 phones — the S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra — mostly resemble the previous versions. The design, for one, is largely the same. Like most mainstream phones, the S26 phones come with rounded corners and flat sides. The easier way to distinguish the S26 from last year's models is to look at the rear cameras. If they are on a camera plateau, it's the S26 series. The bezels are also thinner in the S26 phones, but that's more difficult to tell without a side-by-side comparison.

EN→ITUnlike the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which has seen a number of meaningful hardware changes, the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus have to rely more on Samsung's new AI features to differentiate themselves from the phones that came before, plus a small increase in display and battery size for the basic S26. I would add the new chipsets as a plus point as well, but we don't know yet whether the Exynos 2600 will match up to (or perhaps even beat) the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. This lack of upgrades perhaps makes for a higher threshold to clear for these phones to be worthy replacements of what you're already using. That said, these two phones still seem like worthy opponents for the Google Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro, or the iPhone 17.

EN→ITHaving just applauded the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra for not feeling stagnant, I can’t say the same about the other two S models. There are nips and tucks here and there, and the end results still feel polished, but there isn’t much that feels like it warrants an upgrade. Less still considering the price increases. I may end up being pleasantly surprised when I get them both in for testing – Samsung is a dab hand at smartphone production after all, and even its humblest models tend to deliver brilliant results in some form or another, but as things stand right now, I’m not hugely impressed. We’ll be putting both through our rigorous testing process soon enough, so be sure to check back in to find out what our final verdict is on the Samsung Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus.
