The Samsung Galaxy A57 smartphone was announced in March 2026. It is a slim, good-looking mid-range phone that does not try too hard to be flashy. It measures just 6.9mm thin and weighs 179g, so it feels light and comfortable in the hand. The build is solid, with Gorilla Glass Victus+ on both the front and back, plus an aluminum frame. It comes in Navy, Gray, Icyblue, or Lilac. You get multiple SIM options (nano + eSIM, with up to two active at a time, and it is IP68 rated, meaning it can survive a dunk in 1.5m of fresh water for 30 minutes. So yes, rain and accidental spills are no problem. The 6.7-inch Super AMOLED+ display runs at 120Hz for smooth scrolling and hits 1900 nits peak brightness, so sunlight visibility is excellent. Under the hood, Samsung’s own Exynos 1680 chip (4nm) and up to 12GB of RAM handle daily tasks and casual gaming fine, though it is not a flagship beast. The software is a highlight Android 16 with One UI 8.5, and Samsung promises six major Android upgrades, so this phone could last you until 2032 or so. Storage options go up to 512GB, but there is no microSD card slot.

However, you do get a few improvements with the Samsung A57 and A37, including new Exynos brains and improved water resistance. Here's the full skinny on that battery tech, as well as the camera setup. If you're hoping for much of a hardware upgrade for the Samsung Galaxy A57, prepare for disappointment. Of course, the image processing has been tweaked while the NPU is more powerful, so hopefully that will have an impact.

There's a lot to like about both the Galaxy A57 and the Galaxy A37. Both are smart-looking phones with large batteries, fast charging and some solid camera hardware hiding under the surface. Not to mention the fact that Samsung has added a lot of new AI features that you would otherwise only be able to get on the Galaxy S26 series. The fact that Samsung has increased the price still stings, especially since it seems to be affecting the American market more than the U.K. For the extra money, you'd hope Samsung would offer a little bit more of a substantial upgrade, but that isn't the case, especially not for the Galaxy A57.

The unchanged camera setup – including that likely ‘junk’ macro and lack of a proper zoom – might hold it back on paper, but Samsung’s updated ISP may still deliver decent results once we’ve had the chance to really test it. Throw in six years of updates and the new ‘Awesome Intelligence’ features, a 5000mAh battery and 45W charging, and the A57 could end up being a very compelling all-rounder – but we’ll wait until we’ve fully tested the phone before we say for sure.

Both the A37 and A57 will inevitably sell like hot cakes, despite not much changing this year, and that’s okay. We really liked the A56 last year and this year’s phones are slightly better. And software support remains excellent, with six years of security updates and six generations of OS updates baked in. The only problem these phones have, really, is that the competition is that bit stronger, with the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro, in particular, offering a more interesting look and including an optical telephoto camera in the mix for less money.
