Recensione breve del Portatile Acer TravelMate TMX349-G2-M-5625

Con un SSD turbo. Acer punta a un upgrade Kaby Lake per il sottile TravelMate e il suo piccolo case in alluminio. E' più veloce, e la batteria dura fino a 14 ore. L'SSD da 512 GB non è solo enorme, ma anche estremamente veloce. Il resto delle dotazioni, come schermo IPS, processore veloce e tastiera retroilluminata si aggiungono a tre anni di garanzia, Acer lancia la sfida alla concorrenza.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

L'Acer TravelMate TMX349 è un subnotebook di fascia media adatto per piccoli uffici e per studenti. Grazie al suo peso contenuto ed alla buona autonomia è ideale da portare in giro. Lo schermo contribuisce a questa situazione, sebbene la luminosità massima potrebbe essere migliore. Con 8 GB di RAM e 256 GB di spazio, si presenta bene.

Per chi usa molte finestre e schede browser gli 8 GB di RAM fanno comodo. La qualità di costruzione è buona e robusta grazie al case in alluminio. Le prestazioni del processore sono aumentate e sono quasi allo stesso livello del modello top dello scorso anno, ma con un prezzo di 200-300 Euro in meno (~$220-$330). Nelle operazioni Wi-Fi, l'autonomia resiste quasi un giorno intero di lavoro. Lo schermo matto va bene per ambienti aperti. Nel complesso, Acer ha fatto un buon lavoro ad un prezzo attraente.

Acer è stata in grado di migliorare un prodotto che già convinceva l'anno scorso con nuovi processori e turbo-SSD.

Ci sono solo alcuni dettagli, come il lettore di schede o la ventola rumorosa quando si stressa la CPU, il che intacca l'impressione complessiva del TravelMate.

Se volete risparmiare e non vi importa di avere aperte 20 schede browser o mettete le vostre foto su dispositivi esterni, potete optare per un modello più economico con processore i3. Questi partono da circa 600 Euro (~$660).

Se cercate una macchina sottile, performante robusta per lavorare andando in giro e con molte riserve allora prendete una di queste per circa $780 (256 GB SSD).

The Acer TravelMate TMX349 is a mid-range subnotebook suitable for small offices as well as for students. Thanks to its convenient weight and the good battery life it is ideal for mobile usage. The screen contributes to this notion, although the maximum brightness could be slightly higher. With 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB storage, it is well-prepared for the intended purpose. In contrast to Germany, there is currently no 512 GB option in the U.S.

For those of you who are into multiple open windows and browser tabs, 8 GB RAM definitely helps smoothing your user experience. The build quality is good and sturdy thanks to the aluminum case. The processor performance was increased and is around the same level as last year´s top-end model, only with a 200-300 Euro cheaper price tag (~$220-$330). During Wi-Fi operation, the battery lasts almost one entire workday. The matte screen enables outdoor use. Overall, Acer has done a competent job with this device - for an attractive price.

Acer was able to improve a product that was already convincing last year with new processors and a turbo-SSD.

There are only some details, like the unconvincing card reader or the notably audible fan during CPU-intensive tasks, which blur the overall good impression of the TravelMate.

If you want to save some money and don´t care so much for having 20 open browser tabs and you store all of your photographs on an external hard drive anyway, you might be well-advised to opt for one of the cheaper models with an i3 processor. These start at around 600 Euros (~$660).

If you are looking for a performant, slim, robust machine to get work done on-the-go with enough reserves for the next few years you can easily grab this one for around $780 (256 GB SSD).
