L'iPhone 17 Pro di Apple combina un nuovo design unibody in alluminio con una batteria più grande, il chip A19 Pro a 3 nm, 12 GB di RAM e l'archiviazione veloce NVMe per rivolgersi ai power user e ai professionisti creativi. Il suo display LTPO Super Retina XDR da 6,3 pollici con ProMotion a 120 Hz, luminosità estrema e Ceramic Shield 2 è ampiamente apprezzato, così come il miglioramento delle temperature grazie al nuovo raffreddamento a camera di vapore. L’iPhone 17 Pro si rivela uno smartphone completo. Dal punto di vista hardware, riteniamo che si sia giunti al “capolinea,” poiché più di così non si può fare. Sul fronte software invece poco da dire: iOS rimane un sistema operativo divisivo (“o lo ami o lo odi”). Alcune soluzioni come il Liquid Glass non convincono tutti, e c’è ancora lavoro da fare su Apple Intelligence (due aspetti che però valgono per l’intera famiglia di dispositivi col logo della mela morsicata). Nonostante sia un prodotto raffinato dal punto di vista video, apprezzato da una piccola nicchia di mercato, è forse superfluo per chi non ci lavora in modo professionale. Molti acquirenti, pur spendendo una cifra elevata, ne sfrutteranno probabilmente solo il 10% del potenziale. Se volete la nostra opinione, l’iPhone raccomandato per l’utente medio quest’anno è l’iPhone 17 standard, che ha tutto e fa tutto benissimo (anche se non è arancione).

iPhone 17 Pro, visto anche il sensibile miglioramento di iPhone 17 diventa un prodotto ancora più di nicchia. Certo, se avete esigenze Pro è quello da scegliere, vista la porta USB più veloce e la capacità di fare video in ProRes (tanto per fare due esempi), ma per il pubblico generalista il motivo per sceglierlo si riducono a 3: il design, la presenza di una fotocamera zoom e la batteria con la sua velocità di ricarica. Durante i nostri giorni di test abbiamo avuto la sensazione di avere tra le mani uno smartphone equilibrato, potente e maturo, capace di affrontare senza esitazioni le giornate più impegnative e di garantire scatti e video da riferimento assoluto.

L'iPhone 17 Pro, al contrario, è addirittura più economico del suo predecessore: si parte da 1339 euro contro i 1369 del 16 Pro, ma con 256GB di memoria base.Considerando i tanti passi avanti fatti, è anche lecito che Apple abbia mantenuto prezzi simili, guadagnando un po' più di margine e coprendosi le spalle da eventuali dazi o cambi sfavorevoli. E per chi avrà pazienza, con le prime offerte vedremo presto i classici sconti di 100 euro che li renderanno ancora più competitivi. iPhone 17 Pro è ad oggi lo smartphone più veloce e completo che si possa comprare, ma è anche uno dei più costosi e sarebbe un problema se non fosse così. Apple doveva cambiare poche cose, le ha cambiate. Ogni aspetto di questo smartphone è spinto al massimo ed è impressionante vedere e seguire l'evoluzione di un SoC mobile, l'A 19 Pro, che sembra un processore di classe laptop. Ci troviamo davanti ad uno smartphone che sembra essere una tavola apparecchiata proprio per il momento in cui l’IA porterà a quel cambiamento nell’esperienza utente che tutti ci aspettiamo. C’è un processore più veloce, ci sono 12 GB di RAM, c’è più batteria e c’è un sistema di dissipazione migliore, tutte cose che sono propedeutiche ad avere una piattaforma IA locale efficiente e privacy oriented, che è un po’ la visione di Apple.

The iPhone 17 Pro ticks a lot of boxes and does a lot of stuff very, very well. It’s not as flashy as the iPhone Air, or even the iPhone 16 Pro for that matter, but if you’ve got £/$1000+ to spend on an iPhone, it’s the smarter choice. Where the iPhone Air falls in its camera and battery performance, the iPhone 17 Pro shines. The triple 48MP selection of rear cameras are all great and impressively versatile, with the best zoom performance ever on an Apple device. You’ll get better zoom performance from something like Oppo Find X9 Pro or the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, but it’s great to have an iPhone that isn’t a washout when it comes to zoom performance. This isn’t a massive leap for the Pro series, and if you’re happy with the 16 Pro, then there will likely be bigger upgrades (perhaps even an iPhone Fold) coming in 2026. Still, this is a very good phone with great battery life, a wonderful screen, a versatile camera and finally some fun colours to choose from.

Strangely enough, though, the iPhone 17 Pro shares some of the same pitfalls as Google’s latest Pixels as well. Its battery life and charging setup are only average, as the heat from the A19 Pro chipset builds up, causing the device to drain quickly and resulting in a slight performance slowdown. I’d hoped for more from Apple’s new battery claims, especially with a 50% charge in just 20 minutes and a vapor chamber to beat the heat, but neither has really lived up to expectations, even after a month with the phone. And then, there’s Apple Intelligence. I thought it would be much closer to matching Google’s roster of Gemini features by now, but it remains oh so easy to ignore. I barely use the Image Playground; Clean Up still leaves me with wonky artifacts, and a more conversational Siri remains missing in action.

Either way, though, you won’t be disappointed.

As I say pretty much every year, however, it doesn’t represent a huge evolution in terms of the camera. There are a couple of good improvements – such as finally having three high-resolution sensors, and a long overdue upgrade to the selfie camera. The new square sensor giving you the option to capture selfies horizontally without moving the camera is a feature I scoffed at when I heard about it, but I actually liked it quite a lot in the end. Elsewhere, improvements to things such as battery life, the anti-reflective coating, and the brightness of the screen are all nice-to-haves, but may not be quite enough to tempt you if you already have an iPhone 16 Pro, and possibly the iPhone 15 Pro. Still, keeping hold of your phone for a number of years is no bad thing.

So, in that regard, the company nailed the objective and put out a really good high-end product. It doesn’t hurt that if you like orange as a color, then this should be a compelling device for you. Orange isn’t a particular favorite color of mine, but I still find this hue intriguing. It’s bold but not outlandish. It’s just authentically colorful.And while I don’t recommend buying any device strictly based on its color, I don’t think it’s a terrible excuse if you need one final reason to help you justify the purchase.

Surprising absolutely no one, Apple has unveiled the new iPhone 17 series. I was able to take a high speed hands-on demo of the iPhone 17 Pro, and made a beeline for the new Cosmic Orange model. I'm already very taken with the way it looks and feels, and don't even mind the new camera plateau, but maybe that's just because I'm a sucker for change. In spite of the new unibody design, I found the camera control button on the right still reasonably easy to press, although I think I'm more used to the one on the iPhone 16 Pro and find it a bit easier to click at the moment. More importantly, and this is something I'll have to spend more than an hour with an iPhone 17 Pro to verify, the redesign should help with battery life.

Apple A19 Pro 6-Core GPU: Un adattatore grafico relativamente veloce di cui è dotato il SoC Apple A18 Pro. Questa iGPU ha 6 core ed è abilitata alla RT; sembra che sia basata sulla stessa architettura delle GPU della serie M4. È riuscita a battere la GPU a 7 core Apple M1 in molti test nel nostro test di ottobre 2024.
Ridurre la distanza delle Schede Grafiche per gli utenti che vogliono utilizzare il videogiochi. I nuovi giochi dovrebbero funzionare su queste schede, ma con riduzione dei dettagli e risoluzione mediocre.

A19 Pro: Un potente processore per smartphone e successore formale dell'A17 Pro. Presenta 2 core per le prestazioni e 4 core efficienti, oltre a una NPU da 35 TOPS e alla GPU A18 Pro a 6 core. L'A18 Pro lascia il Dimensity 9300, così come l'Apple A17 Pro e l'Apple A18 piuttosto indietro con un vantaggio di almeno il 10%, per quanto riguarda le prestazioni multi-thread; la GPU a 6 core, nel frattempo, riesce a battere la GPU M1 a 7 core in molti test.
