iPad Pro M5 è un dispositivo che si muove al confine tra categorie. Non è un tablet nel senso tradizionale del termine, non è un laptop, ma riesce a raccogliere alcuni tratti di questi mondi e a fonderli in un’esperienza d’uso che, per certi professionisti, può davvero rappresentare un nuovo standard operativo. Dal punto di vista tecnico, ci troviamo di fronte al miglior tablet mai realizzato da Apple, e probabilmente dal settore nel suo complesso. Il chip M5 offre prestazioni di fascia alta, il display tandem OLED è semplicemente il più spettacolare mai visto su un dispositivo mobile, la costruzione è impeccabile, l’autonomia eccellente. Il software, finalmente, comincia a stare al passo con l’hardware: iPadOS 26.1 introduce una flessibilità operativa che colma molte lacune storiche e apre nuovi scenari di utilizzo.

However, when you can buy an M4 MacBook Air for £999 and not have to worry about paying extra for a keyboard – or the potential shortcomings of iPadOS as a desktop operating system – then the iPad Pro begins to look pretty poor value for money. Even the base M5 MacBook Pro is cheaper than the 13in iPad Pro M5 with keyboard and stylus. At the end of the day, people who love iPads will continue to buy them, regardless of these concerns, but I do think this is a device that, increasingly, falls into the category of “nice to have but not essential”.

The internal hardware improvements are great, too, but how often would you use most of the functionalities that the iPad Pro offers? EN→ITApple’s M5 iPad Pro is an exceptional tablet. It offers performance on par with a laptop, a stunning display, a super slim and lightweight design and solid battery life. The user interface has also seen huge multitasking improvements thanks to iPadOS 26, while the fast charging capabilities make a big difference in terms of usability. There’s still no support for multiple user profiles, accessories cost extra, and there is no getting away from the eye-watering price, no matter how much tablet you get for that money. But none of those are the iPad Pro’s biggest problem. Instead, it’s the rest of the iPad lineup that’s the issue, because almost all of them will be more than sufficient for most when it comes to performance, and they all have the same user experience.

Apple M5 GPU: Una scheda grafica integrata sviluppata da Apple e integrata nel SoC Apple M5. Offre 10 core e, secondo Apple, prestazioni superiori fino al 30% rispetto alla GPU M4.
Queste schede grafiche dovrebbero essere in grado di far funzionare tutti i giochi attuali con un framerates fluido ma rinunciando al livello di dettaglio massimo. Specialmente i giochi impegnativi come Crysis, Age of Conan, o Mass Effect sono utilizzabili soltanto con impostazioni grafiche ridotte. I giochi meno pesanti (e più datati), come Fifa 08, Command & Conquer 3, o Battlefield 2142 possono essere giocati con livello di dettagli più alto.
