I tempi di risposta del display mostrano quanto sia veloce lo schermo a cambaire da un colore all'altro. Tempi di risposta lenti possono creare sovrapposizioni negloi oggetti in movimento. Specialmente i giocatori patiti del 3D dovrebbero usare uno schermo con tempi di risposta bassi.

Sfarfallio dello schermo / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Per ridurre la luminosità dello schermo, alcuni portatili accendono e spengono la retroilluminazione in rapida successione - un metodo chiamato Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). Questa frequenza di ciclo a livello ideale non dovrebbe essere percepibile dall'occhi umano. Se tale frequenza è troppo bassa, gli utenti con occhi sensibili potrebbero stancarsi gli occhi o avere mal di testa o anche notare uno sfarfallio.

L'IdeaPad Flex 14API di Lenovo è dotato di una potente APU Ryzen 5 3500U. In Cinebench R15 la CPU era significativamente più veloce della CPU quad-core Core i5-8265U di cui è dotato il Lenovo Flex 14IWL, per il resto identico. La GPU integrata era molto più veloce anche della controparte di Intel, e permetteva persino alcuni giochi limitati.

    L'IdeaPad Flex 14API di Lenovo è un convertibile a tutto tondo per gli utenti domestici. Purtroppo, ha alcuni inconvenienti.

Il sistema è apparso molto veloce grazie all'SSD NVMe, che può essere sostituito e aggiornato dopo aver rimosso il pannello inferiore. La tastiera era utilizzabile e dotata di retroilluminazione. La durata della batteria era decente, anche se notevolmente più breve rispetto a quella del Flex 14 con tecnologia Intel.

Il touchscreen IPS offriva angoli di visualizzazione ottimali e una precisione del colore in qualche modo decente. Tuttavia, mancava di luminosità, rapporto di contrasto e copertura dello spazio colore. Oltre all'input delle dita, il touchscreen supporta anche la penna opzionale Lenovo Active Pen 2, che può essere acquistata per circa 50 dollari.
