I tempi di risposta del display mostrano quanto sia veloce lo schermo a cambaire da un colore all'altro. Tempi di risposta lenti poccono creare sovrapposizioni negloi oggetti in movimento. Specialmente i giocatori patiti del 3D dovrebbero usare uno schermo con rempi di risposta bassi.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Il multimedia notebook HP Pavilion 17-x110ng da 17 pollici ha attualmente un prezzo di 699 euro (~$750). È dotato di una combinazione di processore Intel e scheda grafica AMD inseriti in un telaio di plastica nero. L'Intel Core i5-7200U è in chip Kaby Lake moderno e il SoC dual-core, molto efficiente, offre prestazioni sufficienti per la maggior parte delle applicazioni multimedia. Una dotazione di 8 GB di RAM DDR4 è anche discreta e quindi non dovrebbero esserci problemi anche con le applicazioni più pesanti. Il display IPS garantisce ampi angoli di visualizzazione e non abbiamo osservato backlight bleeding.

L'HP Pavilion 17-x110ng offre buone prestazioni di sistema, ma quelle di gaming sono limitate a causa della scheda grafica piuttosto lenta.

Una scheda grafica limitata è un'interessante aggiunta, ma occorre pensare con attenzione ai propri scenari di utilizzo, perché le prestazioni sono sufficienti solo per giochi a risoluzione bassa. La soluzione di storage è insieme un punto di forza e un punto debole. Ha senso utilizzare una veloce unità SSD come drive di sistema, ma 256 GB non sono sufficienti per un dispositivo multimedia, dove solitamente vengono impiegate grandi quantità di dati.
