Un portatile business? Ci sono molti portatili da 14" nel segmento da ufficio, ed HP ora presenta il suo nuovo ProBook 440 G5 un dispositivo entry-level. I tempi di risposta del display mostrano quanto sia veloce lo schermo a cambaire da un colore all'altro. Tempi di risposta lenti poccono creare sovrapposizioni negloi oggetti in movimento. Specialmente i giocatori patiti del 3D dovrebbero usare uno schermo con rempi di risposta bassi.

This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Così come il fratello maggiore, anche il ProBook 440 G5 offre un buon rapporto prezzo-performance. E' un peccato che HP rovini un buon lavoro con una tastiera che cede alle pressioni.

Ma iniziamo dagli aspetti positivi: sicuramente ci piace il touchpad del ProBook, e le prestazioni della CPU, che è nettamente avanti al suo concorrente Lenovo. Il ProBook ha anche una selezione di porte migliore rispetto al ThinkPad E480, in quanto non offre solo VGA, HDMI e DisplayPort (via USB Type-C), ma anche un lettore di schede full-size. Come il ProBook più grande, lodiamo le casse e la possibilità di espansione -sebbene lo slot da 2.5" non abbia un caddy. Sfortunatamente, finiscono qui gli aspetti positivi. Per il resto il display è finalmente un IPS, ma non possiamo dirne bene a causa della bassa luminosità. La ventola è più rumorosa e la frequenza è maggiore rispetto al ProBook 450 G5. Pertanto, il sistema di raffreddamento ed il display non sono aspetti positivi di questo dispositivo.

La tastiera è una delusione, perché cede alle pressioni. Questo rovina l'esperienza di utilizzo, ed è grave per un portatile da ufficio. Nemmeno la qualità di cotruzione del ProBook 450 G5 ci ha convinto intorno ai poggiapolsi, esattamente dove si trovano le mani. Per quanto buona la selezione delle porte HP avrebbe dovuto scegliere una posizione migliore. In particolare la porta USB C è troppo arretrata. L'espandibilità è buona, ma la manutenzione nel complesso è deludente, in quanto è difficile accedere alla batteria ed alla ventola. Infine dobbiamo segnalare la garanzia di appena un anno.

Il ProBook 440 G5 potrebbe essere una buona scelta se non fosse per la tastiera.

Nel complesso, non possiamo raccomandare il ProBook a causa dell'instabilità della tastiera. Ci saremmo aspettati un dispositivo migliore per un portatile da ufficio, con una buona stabilità durante la digitazione, cosa che non avviene. Una buona alternativa è il Lenovo ThinkPad E480 con GPU Intel, che stiamo testando, o il Dell Latitude 3490 (a breve la recensione).
