L'Asus Flow X13 è un convertibile ultra-compatto da 13 pollici con un display ad alta risoluzione. Con il display dock opzionale, dotato di una GPU Nvidia Geforce RTX 3080, il Flow X13, insieme alla CPU AMD Ryzen 9 5980H integrata nel portatile, farebbe teoricamente sembrare vecchi anche i computer desktop. A causa della mancanza di disponibilità, per ora recensiremo solo il Flow X13 senza l'eGPU.
L'Asus Flow X13 è un convertibile ultra-compatto da 13 pollici con un display ad alta risoluzione. EN→ITASUS has introduced me to a lot of innovative laptop features its Zephyrus and ZenBook line up. Their new ROG Flow x13, however, is just a different breed altogether. The idea of using a convertible 2-in-1 laptop for a hardcore gaming session only sounds bizarre until you get your hands on this ultrabook. It's hard to find a thin-and-light laptop without some serious sacrifices in performance, but ASUS is headed in the right direction. Yes, it has its caveats, but the ROG Flow x13, just by itself without any accessories, is still something that should be on your radar this year while looking for a new laptop.

So finally, the price. The one that we have here is RM6,499. Honestly speaking, it’s a good price to pay for a laptop like this because at this price point, the competition either isn’t a convertible or doesn’t offer the same level of performance. And that makes the ROG Flow X13 a unique convertible laptop on its own.

Bottom point, while we can’t draw proper conclusions on the gaming capabilities of this Flow X13 + XG Mobile combo based on our test unit, I must warn you about the high CPU and GPU temperatures you should expect with these two. With the laptop sitting on the desk, expect 95C on the CPU and 85+C on the GPU with a properly running Turbo mode that allows the GPU to run closer to its designed max power (150W for this 3080 variant, 165W for the 2022 Radeon RX 6850 XT model). Bumping up the laptop in order to improve the airflow into the fans will have a positive impact on the CPU temperatures, but there’s no way to improve the GPU temperatures. I will also add that the ROG Flow X13 is most likely going to get USB4 support in the next couple of months, and that should allow compatibility with other eGPU enclosures beside the XG Mobile, something AMD devices did not offer so far. It’s too early to tell how current Thunderbolt eGPUs are going to work on USB4, but I have some hopes they will do well.

Finally, the Flow X13 is more affordable than the Z13 at the time of this article, as well as the only option potentially available in a 32 GB configuration. that’s not yet in stores, but it should be at some point – hopefully Asus won’t just limit 32 GB options to the bundle that they plan to offer alongside the XG Mobile dGPU (which we’re addressing in a separate article). In the end, this Flow X13 really comes to whether you’re OK with that design particularity that chokes the intakes. I”m not sure how I would go around it if I were to get one of these laptops, and that’s why I’m not adding a clear recommendation award for this series.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. è un importante produttore taiwanese di hardware per computer con sede a Taipei, fondato nel 1989. Con il marchio Asus, l'azienda produce un'ampia gamma di prodotti, tra cui laptop, desktop, schede madri, schede grafiche, monitor, smartphone e apparecchiature di rete , sistemi completi e componenti PC per utenti finali.
Con il marchio ROG (Republic of Gamers), ASUS produce laptop da gioco conosciuti dai giocatori per le loro potenti specifiche, schede grafiche dedicate, display ad alta frequenza di aggiornamento e sistemi di raffreddamento avanzati.
Oltre ai giochi, viene offerta un'ampia gamma di notebook per esigenze e budget diversi, dagli ultrabook ultrasottili e leggeri ai versatili convertibili 2 in 1 e alle opzioni economiche. Nel 2023, Asus deteneva una quota di mercato globale del 7% del mercato dei PC.
La soddisfazione del cliente per i notebook ASUS riguarda le prestazioni, le caratteristiche e il buon rapporto prezzo-prestazioni dei notebook ASUS. Tuttavia, come con qualsiasi marca, ci sono segnalazioni occasionali di problemi come surriscaldamento, compatibilità dei driver o problemi di qualità costruttiva.
Queste schede grafiche dovrebbero essere in grado di far funzionare tutti i giochi attuali con un framerates fluido ma rinunciando al livello di dettaglio massimo. Specialmente i giochi impegnativi come Crysis, Age of Conan, o Mass Effect sono utilizzabili soltanto con impostazioni grafiche ridotte. I giochi meno pesanti (e più datati), come Fifa 08, Command & Conquer 3, o Battlefield 2142 possono essere giocati con livello di dettagli più alto.

Scheda grafica dedicata di media gamma per computer portatili che utilizza un chip Turing TU117 senza raytracing e nuclei Tensor. Funziona a velocità di clock ridotte rispetto a un portatile GTX 1650 Ti per ottenere un consumo energetico molto più basso (35 contro 50 - 80 Watt).

Scheda grafica per laptop da gioco di fascia media basata sul chip Ampere GA107.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 4GB Laptop GPU:
Ridurre la distanza delle Schede Grafiche per gli utenti che vogliono utilizzare il videogiochi. I nuovi giochi dovrebbero funzionare su queste schede, ma con riduzione dei dettagli e risoluzione mediocre.

R9 5980HS: APU mobile Octa-Core che utilizza core Zen 3 con clock da 3 a 4,8 GHz e una scheda grafica Vega con 8 CU con clock fino a 2100 MHz. Rispetto al modello 5980HX (fino a 54 W), il modello 5980HS è configurato con un TDP di 35 W ed è quindi adatto ai computer portatili più piccoli.
R7 5800HS:
APU Octa-Core mobile che utilizza core Zen 3 con clock da 2,8 a 4,4 GHz e un adattatore grafico Vega con 8 CU con clock fino a 2.000 MHz. Rispetto al 5800H (fino a 54 W), il 5800HS è configurato per un TDP di 35W e quindi adatto ai portatili più piccoli.
R9 5900HS:
APU mobile octa-core che utilizza core Zen 3 funzionanti a 3-4,6 GHz e una scheda grafica Vega con 8 CU funzionanti fino a 2100 MHz. Rispetto al 5900HX (fino a 54 W), il 5900HS è configurato per un TDP di 35 W ed è quindi adatto ai notebook più piccoli.

R7 6800HS:
APU mobile Octa-Core con core Zen 3+ con clock da 3,2 a 4,7 GHz e adattatore grafico RDNA2 con 12 CU con clock fino a 2.200 MHz. La variante HS offre un TDP ridotto di 10 W e quindi prestazioni sostenute inferiori rispetto alla versione H.
R9 6900HS:
APU mobile Octa-Core con core Zen 3+ con clock da 3,3 a 4,9 GHz e adattatore grafico RDNA2 con 12 CU con clock fino a 2.400 MHz. La variante HS offre un TDP inferiore di 10 W e quindi prestazioni sostenute inferiori rispetto alla versione HX.
