Qualche difetto? In realtà è difficile trovarne. Se si considera questo prodotto come un notebook trasportabile semplicemente, dalle buone prestazioni e dalla buona qualità costruttiva, anche il prezzo richiesto (a partire dai 1300 - 1400 euro, su strada) non è poi così alto. L'unico vero dubbio è la durata sul lungo periodo, cosa che non è verificabile in una recensione di poche settimane, ma le premesse per un prodotto duraturo ci sono tutte. Se non siete gamer e non avete necessità di potenze elevate questo potrebbe essere un prodotto per voi.

Ed eccoci al momento di tirare le conclusioni per un prodotto che, come avrete capito, mi ha convinto sotto molti aspetti, ma lo farà anche con il prezzo? In linea di massima direi di sì; forse non con il listino che è di 1599 euro, ma con i 1499 euro a cui è costantemente offerto sul sito Asus e, ancora meglio con i 1300 a cui è reperibile online sa essere decisamente più convincente. Come già detto è un prodotto che, a mio modo di vedere, è nato per essere il concorrente Windows del MacBook Air e, considerando la versione con 16 GB di memoria unificata e SSD da 1TB, quest'ultimo arriva a costare circa 2000 euro. Ebbene, se consideriamo tutto quanto detto fino ad ora, dall’ottima costruzione unita alle dimensioni super compatte, per arrivare alle prestazioni, all’autonomia e al display fantastico si tratta di un prezzo a mio modo di vedere corretto.

Inutile girarci attorno: Zenbook S 13 OLED ci ha convinto a pieno. Chi cerchi un ultraportatile che dia soddisfazioni a 360° deve prenderlo in seria considerazione, magari anche tra qualche mese, quando la naturale discesa dei prezzi l'avrà portato intorno ai 1.200-1300 euro. Sì perché, al netto del costo non propriamente economico, e che comunque ci può anche stare in un portatile con questo grado di ingegnerizzazione, per il resto non ci sono vere criticità da segnalare, ma solo tanto piacere d'uso. Il giorno in cui ASUS semplificasse un pelino anche il suo software, e magari permettesse di spingere un po' di più il processore in certi contesti, saremmo davanti a un prodotto quasi perfetto. Quasi, perché gli mancherebbe ancora una scheda SD!

Inutile girarci attorno: Zenbook S 13 OLED ci ha convinto a pieno. Chi cerchi un ultraportatile che dia soddisfazioni a 360° deve prenderlo in seria considerazione, magari anche tra qualche mese, quando la naturale discesa dei prezzi l'avrà portato intorno ai 1.200-1300 euro. Sì perché, al netto del costo non propriamente economico, e che comunque ci può anche stare in un portatile con questo grado di ingegnerizzazione, per il resto non ci sono vere criticità da segnalare, ma solo tanto piacere d'uso. Il giorno in cui ASUS semplificasse un pelino anche il suo software, e magari permettesse di spingere un po' di più il processore in certi contesti, saremmo davanti a un prodotto quasi perfetto. Quasi, perché gli mancherebbe ancora una scheda SD!

Asus Zenbook 13 (UX5304) review — A tiny, but mighty notebook that can almost do it all

Apple made a remarkably good case with the new Macbook Air release, but if you’re looking for a workhorse in the Windows environment; this would have to be in the running in some strong competition. Small laptops aren’t for everyone, but if you’re on the move a lot, the small and lightweight form factor is very welcome. Asus has added to this form factor, a slick look and comfortable to use feel; despite its small form factor. It’s so easy to carry, and for someone who spends a lot of time working from a laptop, I just didn’t feel like there was any compromise in moving to the Zenbook 13. The sale price of $2,099.00 (at the time of publishing the review, RRP AU$2,399.00) is a pretty reasonable cost for a device as capable as the Zenbook 13. Unless you’re shopping on a pretty tight budget, the extra money to get this over a $1,200.00 – $1,600.00 laptop will get you great portability and longevity from your purchase.

You do get slightly better battery life in the new model, so ultimately it depends on your priority – performance or battery life? The new change of direction for the Zenbook S 13 OLED could be a risky one, given that we’ve already listed quite a few feature regressions across the board. Let’s hope the Zenbook S “franchise reboot” would be for the better.

That doesn’t mean the Air doesn’t have plenty of other advantages over the Zenbook. It is, on the whole, a more premium device (and its higher price reflects that). But I am so, so pleased to see all-day battery life from an Intel machine that I’m finding it hard to care too much about the Zenbook’s other flaws. At the end of the day, this device is a good package, and the combination of performance, screen, port selection, specs, and battery life that it offers beat what you’ll find in some more expensive products. There are areas for improvement, particularly with the speakers and trackpad, but not many egregious compromises. If you’re asking me for a Windows-running MacBook Air alternative, the Zenbook S 13 OLED is very much it.

Certainly, there are some minor nit pickings from me: such as the small left “Ctrl” key, which really should have been bigger than the “Function” key next to it – causing me to miss the key on occasions when I need it – and the lack of a physical privacy cover for its web cam. But these are more about my personal preferences, and for all intents and purposes, the Zenbook S 13 OLED is a wonderful laptop that’s also a worthy competitor – both in performance and design – to the MacBook Air. For that, ASUS can take a bow.

Our Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED first look sample features an impressive array of hardware under the hood. You get a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-1355U processor with a 20W TDP, 16GB LPDDR5 5,200MHz RAM that has been soldered in, a 1TB SSD and Iris Xe graphics. Another variant exists with a 13th Gen I5-1335U processor, the same 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and a 512GB SSD. According to Asus Malaysia, both variants will be available locally by mid-May 2023 with the i7 version priced at RM5,999 and the i5 version at RM4,999 with a slated launch date of mid-May 2023.

Vs the Macbook Air M2, the Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED is a seriously strong rival for creators, with enough power for light gaming on the side. It's one of the best slim notebooks I've reviewed in 2023 or indeed ever! So what makes this laptop so compelling? Well, the thin and light design means you can carry the Zenbook S13 OLED anywhere you go, yet the connectivity is top notch. That 2.8k display is a stunner and the MyAsus app allows you to tweak the gamut, to suit creative tasks, movie playback, whatever. Power is provided by the Intel 13th Gen Core i7 1355U, serving up strong enough performance for photo editing, gaming on reasonably demanding titles and working in Chrome with dozens of tabs open. The Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED 2023 can also last almost six hours with mixed use - not bad at all considering the size of this laptop. Usability gets a thumbs up despite an issue with that touchpad.

While the Sony Xperia 1 V can honestly boast some impressive hardware, a lot of that splendour is, if we’re being quite honest here, a varying degree of repeat performance. The good news is that that said performance is still pretty impressive, to the point that I can still recommend it as a solid option to avide mobile photographers, even with its ludicrous price tag. To bring up another point, its asking price of RM6,399 is also makes the Xperia 1 V the most expensive Xperia smartphones that Sony has, to date. And while the brand does love to argue that its price tag is no less unreasonable than the ones commanded by brands like Samsung and Apple, you would think that the least it could do is provide a USB-C cable or even one of its specially designed casings, but no. Even with its new packaging, all you’re getting is the phone, and nothing else.

Overall, I think the ASUS Zenbook 13 S OLED UX5304 is an excellent laptop that caters to a specific audience. If you prioritize portability, style, and also get actually good performance out of it, then this laptop is definitely worth considering. The performance is decent, the screen is beautiful, and the build quality is top-notch.

So, finally – for the price of RM4,999, I think it’s a niche laptop. If you absolutely want a thin and light laptop, then consider getting this one. Its beautiful screen and actually good performance make it fantastic for those who travel a lot. It also has another variant – RM5,999 with an upgraded processor to the Intel Core i7-1355U with double the storage at 1TB. I’m not sure how the cooling system is able to keep up with it but looking at the Intel ARK webpage, the Core i7-1355U does have a few more megahertz for the CPU and more execution units for the Iris Xe graphics. I’d say the Core i5 version is already good enough – and that’s all we have to share with you about this laptop. I love it, it’s unique, and ASUS is very daring to actually make these unusual laptops that we can actually buy and use.

Con il marchio ROG (Republic of Gamers), ASUS produce laptop da gioco conosciuti dai giocatori per le loro potenti specifiche, schede grafiche dedicate, display ad alta frequenza di aggiornamento e sistemi di raffreddamento avanzati.
