This is the MacBook Pro competitor I’ve been waiting for

I like the ProArt P16, a lot. It’s fast, reasonably well-built, and has a drop-dead gorgeous OLED display. Probably the only other Windows laptop I’ve reviewed that comes close is the Yoga Pro 9i 16, and I would be hard-pressed to choose between these two given their overall value and performance. At the very least, I will say that the ProArt P16’s OLED display is better than the Lenovo’s mini-LED panel. The MacBook Pro 16 can be configured to be a lot faster, and it’s better built. But you’ll have to spend considerably more to get a better laptop than the ProArt 16. For Windows creators, the ProArt 16 is very easy to recommend. And the new AMD Ryzen AI 9 is a very fast chipset that competes well against the best that Intel has to offer.

Chiaramente è un prodotto di nicchia: se il vostro obiettivo è quello di usare Office, Photoshop in modo leggero e qualche giochino occasionale certo è il prodotto sbagliato. Ma se siete creatori di contenuti, usate strumenti pesanti che necessitano di una riserva di potenza incredibile mantenendo comunque una portabilità accettabile (nonostante le dimensioni) e vogliono un display da primo della classe, è un investimento intelligente. E’ un prodotto che a me ha colpito particolarmente e -quando arriverà il momento di restituirlo- proverò sicuramente tanta nostalgia.

ProArt P16 è un computer portatile multimediale da 16 pollici che ha ricevuto molte critiche lo scorso anno a causa del suo display OLED 4K da 60 Hz. Ora è stato dotato di un pannello OLED 2.8K da 120 Hz, ma soffre di debolezze soprattutto nella luminosità HDR.

The specs are fantastic, and while the battery isn’t great, we can forgive that misstep as the P16 is thin and powerful, so a corner has to be cut somewhere. However, the price here is hard to swallow. At R74 999, we understand that tariffs, the global economy etc, are all in the gutter, but ouch. For this money, you could build a similar desktop and potentially beef up the performance further. Hell, the ProArt is more expensive than an M4 MacBook Pro. If you shop around, you could pick up a similarly capable laptop for far less than what ASUS is charging here.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. è un importante produttore taiwanese di hardware per computer con sede a Taipei, fondato nel 1989. Con il marchio Asus, l'azienda produce un'ampia gamma di prodotti, tra cui laptop, desktop, schede madri, schede grafiche, monitor, smartphone e apparecchiature di rete , sistemi completi e componenti PC per utenti finali.
Con il marchio ROG (Republic of Gamers), ASUS produce laptop da gioco conosciuti dai giocatori per le loro potenti specifiche, schede grafiche dedicate, display ad alta frequenza di aggiornamento e sistemi di raffreddamento avanzati.
Oltre ai giochi, viene offerta un'ampia gamma di notebook per esigenze e budget diversi, dagli ultrabook ultrasottili e leggeri ai versatili convertibili 2 in 1 e alle opzioni economiche. Nel 2023, Asus deteneva una quota di mercato globale del 7% del mercato dei PC.
La soddisfazione del cliente per i notebook ASUS riguarda le prestazioni, le caratteristiche e il buon rapporto prezzo-prestazioni dei notebook ASUS. Queste schede grafiche sono paragonabili alle entusiasmanti schede grafiche desktop, come la 9800M GT. Le schede hanno un core simile alle relative schede desktop, ma hanno un clock inferiore e spesso hanno processori con meno ombre. I giochi moderni come Age of Conan, Race Driver Grid, Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect, o Gothic 3 dovrebbero scorrere in modo fluido con dettagli elevati (Crysis dovrebbe funzionare con dettagli medio alti).
