The keyboard, screen and battery life let it down and they're rather fundamental issues for a system at this price. But the sound quality is beaten only by the Dell XPS 15 (or Asus’s own upcoming NX90) and this is still an excellent multimedia notebook in many ways. If you're not planning to travel with the N53 and you watch movies more than you type, you may still find you're getting excellent bang for the buck.

This trio gives you ultimate performance from a laptop and especially from a 15.6-inch laptop as opposed to larger notebooks with 17-inch displays. The 750GB hard drive is of the speedy 7200RPM type, which means you get lots of storage space that's also readily accessible for smooth performance. The Nvidia GT 540M video card allows you to play today's demanding 3D video games with ease and the Asus N53SV does just that. You definitely won't be let down in the performance category with this notebook and that makes it well-worth the moderately-priced price tag. Asus does include a lot of their customized software on this laptop, but they do give you some pretty handy programs too, like a Live Update application to make sure your computer's drivers are always up-to-date. They also pre-install Microsoft Office 2010 Starter Edition, which is an ad-supported version of Word and Excel.

You may also boot the N53SV to the Asus Express Gate Cloud--a Linux-based interface that provides quick access to photos, a calendar, the Internet, and so on. However, the N53SV boots to Windows 7 so quickly, you might find yourself not bothering. The NV53SV has some excellent features. The price-to-performance ratio is nice, and it's never been whacked with an ugly stick. If the minor keyboard issues don't bother you, it's worth a look.

For starters, we have Intel's latest SandyBridge CPU, the Core i7 2630QM which is a quad core multithreaded CPU running at 2.0GHz with Turbo upto 2.9GHz. Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. è un importante produttore taiwanese di hardware per computer con sede a Taipei, fondato nel 1989. Con il marchio Asus, l'azienda produce un'ampia gamma di prodotti, tra cui laptop, desktop, schede madri, schede grafiche, monitor, smartphone e apparecchiature di rete , sistemi completi e componenti PC per utenti finali.
Con il marchio ROG (Republic of Gamers), ASUS produce laptop da gioco conosciuti dai giocatori per le loro potenti specifiche, schede grafiche dedicate, display ad alta frequenza di aggiornamento e sistemi di raffreddamento avanzati.
Oltre ai giochi, viene offerta un'ampia gamma di notebook per esigenze e budget diversi, dagli ultrabook ultrasottili e leggeri ai versatili convertibili 2 in 1 e alle opzioni economiche. Nel 2023, Asus deteneva una quota di mercato globale del 7% del mercato dei PC.
La soddisfazione del cliente per i notebook ASUS riguarda le prestazioni, le caratteristiche e il buon rapporto prezzo-prestazioni dei notebook ASUS. Tuttavia, come con qualsiasi marca, ci sono segnalazioni occasionali di problemi come surriscaldamento, compatibilità dei driver o problemi di qualità costruttiva.
La maggior parte dei giochi attuali può essere giocata in modo fluido. Ma preparatevi ad una riduzione delle presentazioni grafiche considerando le impostazioni di dettaglio basse e la risoluzione limitata. NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M: La GeForce GT 335M offre 72 shader cores (rispetto ai 48 della GT 330M) e si basa sul core GT215 (GTS 350M).
NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M: Successore della GeForce GT 335M che si avvale del supporto DirectX 11 e si basa sul chip GF108.
NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M: Scheda grafica in dirittura d'arrivo, basata sullo stesso chip della GeForce GT 435M ma con una velocità clock leggermente superiore.
AMD Radeon HD 6650M:
Successore della Mobility Radeon HD 5650 con più cores, processore UVD3 ed Eyefinity+. A causa dello stesso nome in codice, la 6650M dovrebbe essere una HD 6750M con una memoria DDR3 più lenta.
Ridurre la distanza delle Schede Grafiche per gli utenti che vogliono utilizzare il videogiochi. I nuovi giochi dovrebbero funzionare su queste schede, ma con riduzione dei dettagli e risoluzione mediocre.
NVIDIA GeForce GT 550M: Scheda grafica con buone prestazioni per portatili, basata sulla vecchia serie 400M ma con supporto per DDR3 da 900MHz.
NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M: Più modelli basati su vari chips della generazione Fermi. Specificamente, la GT 630M esiste nelle varianti GF108/GF106/GF116, ma sono tutte essenzialmente GPUs GeForce GT 540M o 555M con un nome diverso. Esiste anche una variante GF117, realizzata su una litologia da 28nm con ridotto consumo energetico.

Intel Core i5:
520M: Il Core i5-520M ha solo 3 MB di L3 Cache (rispetto alla I7-640M) ed un clock tra 2.4-2.93 GHz (Turbo Mode). Grazie all'Hyperthreading, possono essere processati 4 threads contemporaneamente. Nel pacchetto è inclusa anche una scheda grafica (GMA HD 3150) ed un controller memoria DDR3.
450M: Dovrebbe essere simile alla Core i5-520M ma senza funzioni AES.
2410M: Processore dual-core basato sulla architettura Sandy Bridge con una scheda grafica integrata ed un controller di memoria dual-channel DDR3. La CPU ha un clock da 2.3 GHz (Turbo Boost 2.6-2.9 GHz) e la GPU da 650 (1200 MHz Turbo).
2520M: Processore Dual-core basato sull'architettura Sandy Bridge con una scheda grafica integrata ed un controller di memoria dual-channel DDR3.
Intel Core i7:
720QM: Il Core i7-720QM è il Core i7 Quad più lento del 2009 ed ha un clock tra 1.6 e 2.8 GHz (grazie al Turbo Mode). Di conseguenza, il processore combina i vantaggi delle veloci CPUs single core e delle lente CPUs quad-core. Rispetto alle più veloci CPUs Core i7, la 720QM ha solo 6MB di L3 Cache.
2720QM: Veloce processore Quad-core basato sulla architettura Sandy Bridge con scheda grafica integrata e controller di memoria dual-channel DDR3.
2630QM: Veloce processore Quad-core basato sulla architettura Sandy Bridge con scheda grafica integrata e controller di memoria dual-channel DDR3.
