70% ASUS V16 review: A gaming laptop that keeps things simple, perhaps too simple

The ASUS V16 is an interesting gaming laptop. It doesn’t try to outmuscle its flashier ROG siblings, and it certainly doesn’t match the polish of something like Gigabyte’s Aero 16X that I just tested not long ago. Even its compromises are obvious: the screen is underwhelming, the keyboard layout isn’t perfect, and you’ll sometimes need to dial back game settings to keep things smooth. But it also has strengths worth noting. Intel’s Core 7 240H gives it an edge in creator workloads, battery life outpaces what you’d expect from its smaller pack, and the overall design doesn’t scream “gamer” – a plus if you need one laptop that works for both the office and home. The bigger question is whether the extra S$200 for the Aero 16X is worth it.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop: Scheda grafica mobile di fascia media della famiglia Blackwell basata sul chip GB206 con 3328 shader e 8 GB di memoria grafica GDDR7 (128 bit).

Queste schede grafiche dovrebbero essere in grado di far funzionare tutti i giochi attuali con un framerates fluido ma rinunciando al livello di dettaglio massimo. Specialmente i giochi impegnativi come Crysis, Age of Conan, o Mass Effect sono utilizzabili soltanto con impostazioni grafiche ridotte. I giochi meno pesanti (e più datati), come Fifa 08, Command & Conquer 3, o Battlefield 2142 possono essere giocati con livello di dettagli più alto.

Core 7 240H: CPU mobile basata su Alder Lake con 6 core ad alte prestazioni e 4 core efficienti. I core ad alte prestazioni offrono l'hyper threading per 16 thread in totale. La CPU funziona da 1,8 a 5,2 GHz. Rispetto al vecchio Core i7-13620H, il Core 7 240H offre velocità di clock più elevate (soprattutto Turbo Boost) e supporto per DDR5-5600.
