Veniamo al dunque. Quanto costa il Samsung Z Flip? Il prezzo è sicuramente il tasto dolente, visto che da listino sul sito ufficiale lo smartphone costa 1.599 euro. Venduto in due colorazioni, Mystic Bronze e Mystic Grey, c’è però la possibilità di ottenere uno sconto fino a 600 euro supervalutando il vostro telefono usato. In questo momento su Amazon c’è in offerta la versione in grigio al prezzo di 1.399 euro, con ben 200 euro di sconto. Potete anche cercare su altri siti: in questi giorni non mancheranno offerte. Occhio però a non confondervi ed acquistare il modello 4g, che ha un costo decisamente più basso.

Ma da qualche parte si deve pur cominciare e al di fuori di giudizi di gusto o considerazioni possibili sull'utilità – o inutilità – della tecnologia, questo è il primo foldable che è anche uno smartphone completo e senza difetti rilevanti. Non lo consiglierei se non in rarissimi casi, ma Samsung ha fatto davvero un buon lavoro e si intravede chiaramente un percorso di sviluppo possibile. Quando (e soprattutto SE) un dispositivo del genere arriverà a costare solo il 20% in più di uno tradizionale a parità di specifiche, allora potremo davvero capire se questo è solo un esperimento tanto per fare qualcosa di diverso o se si tradurrà in un fenomeno di massa. E la diffusione che avevano un tempo i cellulari a conchiglia potrebbe essere un segnale positivo.

Samsung mette in commercio il suo secondo pieghevole, Z Flip ha dimensioni più contenute rispetto al Fold ma un display esterno poco funzionale ed un’estetica poco ricercata e, a mio parere, anonima, nel complesso le prestazioni sono di ottimo livello, grazie anche al processore Snapdragon che ne ottimizza altresì i consumi, sarebbe il caso Samsung ci facesse seriamente un pensierino per tutti i suoi top di gamma, per la cifra a cui viene proposto, oltre 1.500€, mi sarei aspettato almeno lo zoom nella fotocamera, in generale un buon smartphone ma poco ottimizzato come pieghevole.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip launched to much fanfare in February 2020. Dubbed as the third "mass-market" foldable smartphone, this folding phone flipped (quite literally) the display into a clamshell design reminiscent of retro flip phones as well as the newly updated Motorola RAZR foldable. Unlike the Moto, however, Samsung packed some seriously good specs into this handset. You get a 1080p equivalent ultra-wide 21.9:9 1080p-equivalent display, a Snapdragon 855+, 8GB, 256GB+ storage, and all a camera assembly similar to that found in the Galaxy S10. Sure, there have been early reports of durability issues from fellow YouTubers like JerryRigEverything, but we believe they're largely blown out of proportion and whilst Samsung should be chastised for misleading advertising, the glass display is *actually* glass and is *actually* really great. The question, however, remains: "Is this phone worth $1,400?" and "Can the Galaxy Z Flip with 2019 specs really hold a candle to Samsung's 2020 flagship Galaxy S20 line?" In a way, yes. In other ways, no. One thing is to be sure: this thing is made of glass, it folds, and it's actually really great.

It takes a lot to make me forget about a phone that has an insane amount of zoom like the S20 Ultra, but the Galaxy Z Flip has done exactly that. The phone isn’t exactly going to be cheap, but hell, it may just be the device that brings me back into Samsung’s embrace.
