While other brands may chase ultra-premium materials or flashy OLED panels, HP has instead focused on nailing the fundamentals with the Omnibook X 14: good battery life, reliable productivity performance, a sturdy build, and a $2,099 price point that’s easier to justify if you're just looking to get work done without paying extra for style. But it’s not flawless, of course. The display lacks colour vibrancy, and I’m not entirely comfortable with its low brightness levels. Then there’s the chassis – while solidly built, it doesn’t quite carry the same visual polish or refinement as some of its competitors. That said, the Omnibook X 14’s battery life is excellent, and that alone is a major selling point if you're often working on the go.

The HP OmniBook X Flip is my new go-to for recommending midrange convertibles. It does everything you could ask for out of a slim laptop, and does it with style. The keyboard is a joy to type on, the touchpad is good (although it's not a haptic one), and it has a decent port selection. Most laptop purchasers want battery life, performance, and a good screen, and the OmniBook X Flip has all of those, whether you pick the 14-inch or 16-inch version. The onboard speakers are slightly better on the larger model, but that's about the only difference I could point at after a month of extended use. Get the one that fits your backpack and be happy. But before you do, double-check the discounts on the HP OmniBook Ultra Flip, because the flagship is sometimes cheaper than the midrange.

It's well built, lovely to use, and the balance of power and stamina make for a laptop that's as happy sitting on a desk as it is coming on your travels. And whether it's work or play, the OLED touchscreen is a delight. There is room for improvement here, naturally. Firstly, we'd strongly recommend opting for the pricier 32GB model, and secondly, we really wish the speakers were better. If HP could find a way to get a more full-bodied audio experience, this would be a nigh-on perfect laptop for the home – or the home office. Even as it stands, though, this is one of our favourite laptops of 2025 so far. If you've got around £1,400 to spend on a laptop, the OmniBook X Flip 16 should be very near the top of your shopping list.

95% HP OmniBook X Flip 16 2-in-1 review: One of my top 3 laptops of 2025

I really do not know why the HP OmniBook X Flip 16 2-in-1 design hit me as it did. There is this subtle line on the bottom that sort of curves out and makes this laptop look really nice. The color of the laptop is also stunning, and while it does grab some fingerprints, it’s not as bad as some other laptops. It’s also lightweight for a 16″ laptop. The 3K OLED display on this unit is vibrant and punchy, with deep blacks, crisp whites, and an excellent brightness level. The Intel 258V paired with 32 GB of RAM is excellent and handles my video editing and photo editing with ease. The fans rarely kicked in on this unless I was rendering something heavy in 4K. The speakers are just okay; the soundstage is decent, but they do lack a bottom end. They do get the job done though. Battery life is outstanding, as expected with this 258V under the hood.

I really do not know why the HP OmniBook X Flip 16 2-in-1 design hit me as it did. There is this subtle line on the bottom that sort of curves out and makes this laptop look really nice. For the price of the OmniBook X Flip 16 I tested, if you're not getting a dedicated GPU, then you should rightly expect a better keyboard, touchpad, webcam and speakers. For significantly less than the Flip 16's price, you can grab an Acer Swift Go 16, which also includes a beautiful OLED panel and outperformed the Flip 16 on the majority of our benchmarks. While the Swift can't match the Flip 16 for battery life and doesn't offer two-in-one functionality, it makes for a much cheaper date if you want a big-screen OLED laptop for home use.

The HP OmniBook X Flip 16 is a bit hit and a bit miss, almost in equal measure. On the one hand, it feels well built and has a nice, albeit plain look to it. It has a big, gorgeous display as well. But it also makes confusing choices like having huge grilles that do almost nothing. Its keyboard prioritizes form over function. And a 16-inch tablet over four pounds probably won’t be practical for most people, especially without reliable palm rejection. Then there’s the performance. It simply doesn’t take full advantage of the hardware, in many cases getting outperformed by lower-tier hardware. Perhaps it would have worked better had HP used all of its grilles to get more airflow and heat dissipation. But it didn’t. And in spite of that, the OmniBook X Flip 16 is on the expensive side.

I haven't really pointed out any major negatives in this review, and that's because, at nearly ₹1.5 lakh, the Omnibook X Flip delivers the kind of flagship thin-and-light experience you'd expect. It packs an immersive 3K OLED touchscreen in a foldable form factor, is lightweight and ergonomic for on-the-go use, and offers one of the most comfortable keyboards I've typed on in a while. Put simply, it feels like the complete package. Of course, if I had to nitpick, there are a few things. Windows still isn't fully optimised for a touchscreen-only workflow, the audio output leaves room for improvement, and the lack of a fingerprint reader is noticeable. Competing laptops in this range also offer slightly better battery life, though none of them double up as a convertible. At the end of the day, those quibbles are just that: nitpicks. The HP Omnibook X Flip is an excellent all-rounder that blends performance, portability, and premium features into one very compelling machine.

The HP OmniBook X Flip 14 is a mixed bag. It’s a beautifully built 2-in-1 with a fantastic, sharp OLED display and a rock-solid hinge. For general productivity, it’s fast and capable. But its strengths are undermined by three weaknesses: a keyboard that isn’t the most comfortable for fast typing, average graphics performance, and a battery that leaves you wanting. If you are a student or professional who primarily works with documents and the web, values a great screen for watching videos, and loves the flexibility of a 2-in-1 design with an included pen, the OmniBook X Flip could be a good fit. The performance is decent, and it can handle most of the workloads throughout the day. Nel 2023, HP deteneva una quota di mercato approssimativa del 22% delle vendite globali di PC, diventando così il numero 2 dopo Lenovo.

Ridurre la distanza delle Schede Grafiche per gli utenti che vogliono utilizzare il videogiochi. I nuovi giochi dovrebbero funzionare su queste schede, ma con riduzione dei dettagli e risoluzione mediocre.

Qualcomm Adreno X1-85 3.8 TFLOPS: Un adattatore grafico integrato di cui sono dotati diversi processori Snapdragon X Elite e X Plus. L'Adreno non supporta i monitor SUHD 4320p e, per quanto riguarda le prestazioni, non è molto più veloce della vecchia iGPU Intel Iris Xe da 96 UE.

Intel Arc 140V: Un adattatore grafico integrato piuttosto veloce che, secondo quanto riferito, alcuni processori Intel Lunar Lake impiegano. Il 140V ha 8 core di architettura Xe² che funzionano fino a 2.050 MHz e 8 unità di ray tracing; è abilitato a DirectX 12 Ultimate e supporta anche tutti i codec video moderni. Se le recenti fughe di notizie sui punteggi dei benchmark sono indicative, le sue prestazioni di gioco saranno leggermente migliori di quelle di GeForce MX570.

Intel Arc 130V: Un adattatore grafico integrato che i processori Intel Lunar Lake di fascia bassa utilizzano. Si tratta di un successore diretto dell'iGPU Arc 7; ha 7 core di architettura Xe² che funzionano fino a 1.850 MHz e 7 unità di ray tracing a disposizione. Ci aspettiamo che il 130V sia veloce quanto la Radeon 780M per ottenere frame rate giocabili nella maggior parte dei giochi 2023 e in alcuni giochi 2024 a 1080p con impostazioni grafiche basse.

SD X Elite X1E-78-100: Un system-on-a-chip con architettura ARM da utilizzare nei computer portatili Windows. X1E-78-100 è il membro più lento della famiglia di prodotti Snapdragon X Elite, a partire da maggio 2024; come tale, ha 12 core di CPU Oryon (8 core P e 4 core E) che funzionano a non più di 3,4 GHz e una GPU Adreno da 3,8 TFLOPS. Core Ultra 7 258V: Un processore di fascia media superiore della famiglia Lunar Lake. Si tratta di un SoC per l'uso in computer portatili e tablet di tipo più sottile che presenta 4 nuovi core E e 4 nuovi core P che funzionano fino a 4,8 GHz, insieme alla nuova e promettente iGPU Arc 140V e a 32 GB di RAM LPDDR5x-8533 in dotazione. Sono inclusi anche un nuovo motore neurale 47 TOPS, il supporto TB 4 e PCIe 5 SSD.

Core Ultra 5 226V: Uno dei processori più lenti della famiglia Lunar Lake. Si tratta di un SoC destinato all'uso in computer portatili e tablet di tipo più sottile, che presenta 4 nuovissimi core E e 4 core P leggermente nuovi che funzionano fino a 4,5 GHz, insieme alla nuova iGPU Arc 130V e a 16 GB di RAM LPDDR5x-8533 on-package. Sono inclusi anche un nuovo motore neurale da 40 TOPS, TB 4 e supporto SSD PCIe 5.
