You’d probably expect top-notch performance in a tiny 13-inch form factor with the label Alienware on it and you are probably right to do so but in reality, the Alienware 13 is everything but a gaming powerhouse. Yes, we are once again met with impeccable build quality with excellent choice of materials – typically for an Alienware product – slightly bulky and a bit hefty for a 13-incher but nothing too alarming, especially for a gaming machine that is. We are still pretty impressed by the horsepower, storage options, and battery that the engineers were able to stick inside the small chassis. For example, you can get a hold of two M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD slots along with a 51Wh battery that will last for nearly a day with normal usage. That’s more than some other premium notebooks and ultrabooks can offer. And to be honest, that was the last thing we were expecting from a gaming-oriented notebook. Oh, and the touchpad and keyboard are pretty comfortable as well.

Incidentally, the machine also scored a 7.1 on the SteamVR performance test, showing it was also "VR Ready." Stay tuned in the days ahead as we step through the rest of the design, software and benchmark details of the Alienware 13 R3. For now, we're going back to work, gaming. It's a dirty job but someone has to do it.

It's a little tough, at the moment, to judge the Alienware 13's value compared to its competition, because when we wrote this, there were no other 13-inch, GTX 1060-based gaming laptops available (at least that we could find on Newegg.com). There was a 14-inch Aorus X3 Plus v6-PC3K4D with GTX 1060 graphics ready for pre-order when we wrote this. It purports to sport a higher-resolution (3,800x1,800-pixel) screen, and it is priced at $100 less. But that high-resolution screen is a poor fit for the abilities of the GTX 1060 graphics. We'd gladly pay $100 more for the privilege of gaming (and working) on the gorgeous OLED screen of the Alienware 13.

Compatto miracolo gaming. Mentre il nostro modello di test dell'Alienware 15 R3 aveva avuto qualche problema di temperature, siamo rimasti impressionati dal sistema da 13". Oltre alle elevate prestazioni in un piccolo chassis, siamo rimasti convinti anche dal brillante schermo OLED.
Compatto miracolo gaming. Mentre il nostro modello di test dell'Alienware 15 R3 aveva avuto qualche problema di temperature, siamo rimasti impressionati dal sistema da 13". Oltre alle elevate prestazioni in un piccolo chassis, siamo rimasti convinti anche dal brillante schermo OLED.

In un certo senso, è un giudizio sbilanciato. Il portatile ha cura e gusto, offre software non banali per la personalizzazione estetica e per la regolazione di Windows (un esempio è la Modalità Gioco di cui vi parlo nel video). Alienware: Alienware è stata fondata negli Stati Uniti nel 1996. La sede europea si trova in Irlanda. Alienware fa parte del gruppo Dell dal 2006. La gamma di prodotti si concentra principalmente su laptop e desktop da gioco, sviluppati e prodotti da Dell. Il marchio è un design leggermente futuristico con un alieno come logo. Vengono inoltre vendute postazioni di lavoro per clienti privati e commerciali.
Come con ogni marchio, ci sono anche alcuni punti critici con Alienware. Alcuni clienti si sono lamentati dei prezzi elevati dei prodotti, mentre altri hanno criticato la qualità del servizio clienti. Sono stati inoltre segnalati problemi relativi all'affidabilità e alla durata di alcuni prodotti Alienware. Tuttavia, molti clienti hanno anche avuto esperienze positive con il marchio e apprezzano i potenti computer da gioco.
Ridurre la distanza delle Schede Grafiche per gli utenti che vogliono utilizzare il videogiochi. I nuovi giochi dovrebbero funzionare su queste schede, ma con riduzione dei dettagli e risoluzione mediocre.

Queste schede grafiche dovrebbero essere in grado di far funzionare tutti i giochi attuali con un framerates fluido ma rinunciando al livello di dettaglio massimo. Specialmente i giochi impegnativi come Crysis, Age of Conan, o Mass Effect sono utilizzabili soltanto con impostazioni grafiche ridotte. I giochi meno pesanti (e più datati), come Fifa 08, Command & Conquer 3, o Battlefield 2142 possono essere giocati con livello di dettagli più alto.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Mobile:
La mobile GTX 1060 si basa sul chip GP106 ed offre 1280 shaders. Rispetto alla versione desktop con nome identico ha un clock rate leggermente inferiore. II giochi in Full HD e dettagli massimi dovrebbero girare in modo fluido con questa scheda.
