Abbiamo Samsung Galaxy S8+ qui con noi da più di 10 giorni e fin dall’unboxing il prodotto ci ha subito colpito, a folgorare l’enorme schermo da 6,2” di cui è dotato. Ovviamente esiste anche una variante più piccola, tuttavia vista la natura “all screen” dei prodotti a fare molta più figura è il modello Plus.

Insomma, un vero cavallo purosangue che stupisce da subito con un’estetica splendida. Rispetto al fratello minore S8 è naturalmente più ingombrante e meno maneggevole, tuttavia ottimizza lo spazio in modo notevole. L’uso quasi obbligatorio di una custodia è un peccato perché copre in minima parte il design così da applausi. La mancanza del doppio sensore non è grave, tutt’altro, mentre ci saremmo attesi di più dalla fotocamera frontale. Il prezzo è alto, molto alto, quanto ci metterà ad arrivare al 50/60% del costo attuale? Per Natale?

Il prezzo del Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus è fissato a 929 euro e nel pacchetto sono incluse le cuffie esclusive di AKG che hanno un grande valore. Dopo aver scritto questa recensione arriviamo alla conclusione: probabilmente lo compreremmo perché è molto interessante a livello di hardware e funzionalità ma è anche vero che sembra che i produttori Android si stiano semplicemente allineando alla prezzistica di Apple, contribuendo dunque a una tendenza che sicuramente non fa bene a noi acquirenti. Meglio dunque attendere qualche mese se non si ha la necessità di cambiare subito telefono.

Come dicevo all'inizio un S8 più grosso. Mi sarei aspettato un aumento di autonomia più deciso rispetto al fratello minore ma probabilmente lo schermo più grande incide sui consumi. Meno maneggevole e, vista la larghezza maggiore, qui si lo schermo curvo a volte si prende dentro con le mani anche se l'attivazione dell'uso a una mano è comodo e veloce. Sicuramente più ergonomico di S7 edge io continuo a preferire la versione "piccola". Ma qui è questione di scelte personali. E di portafoglio, visto che questa versione plus costa 100 euro in più!!

Giudizio del team : anche qui è presente la curvatura dello schermo su entrambi i lati ed il pannello Super Amoled ovviamente sfrutta tutto lo spazio che può, ecco quindi giustificati anche i suoi 6,2 pollici. Il telefono è in effetti davvero enorme ed è una impresa tenerlo in mano per fare una telefonata, essendo non solo ampio ma anche lungo e discretamente pesante. Esteticamente è completamente diverso da altri smartphone con linee innovative, ergonomia che non dispiace ma ribadiamo che forse è un pò troppo grosso. Certo questa è la versione Plus e non la base di questo Samsung Galaxy S8.

If you are an iPhone user this phone might be tempting, but iOS (and iMessage in particular) are hard to break away from if you are used to them, and the iPhone 7 Plus offers a fantastic larger phone experience with my favorite dual-camera implementation right now. The Galaxy S8+ didn’t end up with a second rear camera sensor, which I can only assume we will see with the Note 8. It also didn’t end up with an embedded fingerprint sensor, as mentioned above. Like I said, the GS8+ is almost perfect. But I still want one.

Prolific leaker Evan Blass posted expected European pricing for both phones a few days ago and it isn’t pretty. Even accounting the fact that European pricing will always be higher due to higher taxes, you can expect the Galaxy S8 to be priced near the 40K mark, while the Galaxy S8+ will certainly be in the low 40’s. That’s pricing approaching iPhone territory, though you will have to consider that both devices use large, hard-to-produce curved Super AMOLED panels. Still, that price though.
