Il Galaxy S22 Ultra non è un telefono per tutti e questo è il suo più grande limite: mette gli utenti davanti ad una scelta obbligata. Nei giorni scorsi un dirigente di OPPO ci ha detto che stanno molto attenti ad ogni scelta fatta perché non vogliono trovarsi nelle condizioni di far spendere all’utente soldi per qualcosa che non utilizzerebbero, e quindi cercano che ogni euro speso dall’utente sia speso per qualcosa che sia realmente utilizzato. C’è tuttavia un lato da considerare: Samsung ha venduto tantissimi S21 Ultra e S22 Ultra è di gran lunga superiore al predecessore, in tutto e per tutto. Non solo nella fotocamera: la batteria dura di più, ha uno schermo migliore, riceve meglio, ha un wi-fi più veloce, non ha problemi di vivavoce. Chi ha usato S21 Ultra e ha deciso di sfruttare il trade-in per passare al nuovo modello si troverà davanti ad telefono di tutt’altra pasta e sarà sicuramente felice dell’acquisto, con Exynos o senza Exynos, con penna o senza penna.

Sicuramente c’è ancora qualche sbavatura che andrà sistemata con degli aggiornamenti software ma, nel complesso, è davvero un mega top di gamma che, allo stato attuale, può solo che migliorare. a tutto, lo fa alla grande – e in grande – e c’è la S Pen che, a nostro avviso, oltre ad essere un unicum è anche il vero plus, soprattutto per chi il telefono lo usa in primis per lavoro. Ecco chiariamo: l’utente non ha bisogno di questo S22 Ultra. Se non avete esigenze specifiche, non sfruttereste tutte le sue funzionalità. Se però siete utenti estremamente esigenti, che con lo smartphone ci lavorano, che hanno bisogno di foto e video di qualità, allora è un prodotto da considerare.

Valutare un prodotto come questo S22 Ultra con un software non ancora definitivo e con un ecosistema Android non ancora pronto per la GPU Xclipse 920 può portare a conclusioni errate. Nell'utilizzo business è un prodotto praticamente perfetto, qualche lag non può certo inficiare il lavoro svolto da Samsung, anche perché speriamo che vengano eliminati nelle prossime versioni del software. Lo schermo e il pennino sono semplicemente eccezionali, il primo è al top per qualità nel mondo smartphone, il secondo è unico nel suo genere e riporta in vita la tradizione della gamma Note. Anche sul versante fotografico siamo di fronte a un vero cameraphone, versatile e capace di scattare immagini incredibili, anche da grandi distanze. L'autonomia, pur non essendo da record, permette di coprire le giornate più impegnative, mentre la OneUI si conferma l'interfaccia da battere nel mondo Android, e per di più verrà aggiornata per molti anni.

I suoi 1.279€ per la versione base lo pongono nella fascia alta del mercato, dove gli utenti che lo sceglieranno si aspettano di avere un device all’altezza del prezzo e delle loro aspettative. Uno smartphone capace di fare praticamente tutto senza alcuna esitazione. E Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra non li deluderà. È senza dubbio il miglior Android del momento. Uno smartphone tuttofare da battere che dalla sua però ha forse perso la sua vera natura di top di gamma della serie Galaxy S ma ha fatto capire che Samsung difficilmente dirà definitivamente addio alla S Pen e a tutto quello che c’è dietro.

Peccato solo per la GPU poco supportata che scontenta (al momento) il popolo dei videogiocatori. Il prezzo ovviamente è alto, si parte da 1.279 euro per la versione 8/128 GB e si arriva ai 1.689 della 12/1TB. Io consiglio vivamente di spendere 100 euro in più rispetto alla versione base e prendere la 12/256GB a 1.379 euro perché le ho provate entrambe e le ho trovate diverse non solo come storage ma anche come prestazioni generali. Si tratta di un top di gamma assoluto, completissimo e prestante sotto ogni comparto, con l'aggiunta di tutto il supporto e gli aggiornamenti garantiti da Samsung. Per quanto mi riguarda si è guadagnato il primo posto della mia classifica personale!

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G (che potremmo definire tranquillamente Note) incarna lo stato dell’arte della tecnologia in ambito smartphone. Oggettivamente è il prodotto più completo e tecnologico presente sul mercato con anche qualcosa in più, ovvero l’S-Pen. In base a cosa avete in tasca e cosa vi aspettavate, questo può essere o lo smartphone dell’anno o la delusione dell’anno. È lo smartphone perfetto per chi ha in tasca un Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Note 10 o precedente ed è insoddisfatto di qualche elemento: la batteria risicata, le foto non più all’altezza o le prestazioni inadeguate. Se invece avete un Galaxy S21 Ultra, solamente la S-Pen integrata potrebbe darvi ragione a cambiare con S22 Ultra, tuttavia a nostro avviso è una motivazione troppo esigua e per cui non vale la pena considerando anche il piccolo peggioramento in termini di ergonomia. È anche vero che con la super valutazione dell’usato potete restituire uno smartphone a Samsung ricevendo un corposo sconto anche di 6-700 Euro.

In conclusione il nostro giudizio non può che essere positivo, Galaxy S22 Ultra incorpora semplicemente tutto il possibile a livello tecnologico nel mondo smartphone, è dotato del pennino che può essere tanto un valore aggiunto quanto una caratteristica fondamentale a seconda delle esigenze. Ha ancora margini di miglioramento importanti, in particolare nello sfruttare a dovere e rendere più stabile tutto ciò che riguarda la GPU, sicuramente il tempo e gli aggiornamenti sono dalla sua parte. L'unica critica che ci sentiamo di fare riguarda la proposizione sul mercato della famiglia S22. E' un peccato che la vittima sacrificale dell'unione tra S e Note sia stato il vero successore di S21 Ultra, che a questo punto non vedremo mai. La rinuncia nei fatti al capitolo S-Ultra non è poi stata accompagnata da una revisione di ciò che sono i Galaxy S22, soprattutto il Plus che avrebbe potuto ereditare almeno parte delle caratteristiche del modello superiore.

As you can probably tell from the length of this review, there’s a heck of a lot to talk about when it comes to the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Samsung’s Note but not a Note, this year’s top-end S-series flagship stands well apart from its cheaper siblings, and it’s clear that you’re getting an awful lot more for the added cost. But, of course, that cost is a particularly potent pain point. Starting at £1,149 for the 128GB model and running all the way up to £1,499 for 1TB of storage, the S22 Ultra is the priciest (non-folding) flagship on the market. It’s £100 more than the already expensive iPhone 13 Pro Max, after all, so it really ought to be practically flawless to justify the increased expense. Except it does stumble a little along the way. The performance improvements aren’t quite as big as I would have liked and the battery life decrease is a bit worrisome. If you’ve still got last year’s S21 Ultra in your hands, you might want to hold on to it for at least a little while longer. However, if you’re looking for the very best that Android can muster and are blessed with deep pockets, you can’t do any better than the S22 Ultra.

Samsung’s latest flagship appeared with very promising specs, including screen brightness claimed to reach 1750 cd/m2, an adaptive frame rate, and a Vision Booster feature that adjusts the display tone mapping to ambient lighting conditions. We compared the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (Exynos) with its predecessor, the S21 Ultra 5G (Exynos), and with two of its principal competitors, the Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max and the OnePlus 9 Pro. So what did DXOMARK engineers find during testing? Well, first of all, yes, the S22 Ultra (Exynos) display measured 1777 cd/m2 in our brightness tests — the brightest smartphone display ever — and thanks to this, it shows strong improvement in readability under sunlight. And second, Samsung achieves the new top video score thanks to good brightness, proper tone mapping, and good color rendering.
