It's easy to say who should buy the OnePlus Pad 2 and who shouldn't. If you want a multimedia device with powerful performance, a nice screen, long battery life, and great speakers -- and you don't mind that it runs Android -- the Pad 2 is an excellent choice. If, however, you want a tablet that can turn into a laptop, you should consider more premium options like the iPad Pro and Surface Pro. Regardless, at $449 on sale, the OnePlus Pad 2 is a fantastic tablet that delivers on various fronts, and the company continues to offer competitive trade-in and bundling deals to help you round out the experience for less money.

I love it when I review a product that’s easy to recommend. If you're looking for a premium Android tablet experience without the premium price tag, the OnePlus Pad 2 is an excellent choice. This tablet fires on all cylinders with its powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, stunning 12.1-inch display, great battery life, and clean software. Sure, it might not have all the bells and whistles of a Samsung tablet, like an AMOLED display or the ultra-refined One UI. But let's be honest, most people don't need all the features that Samsung packs. What they do need is a tablet that can handle their everyday tasks without needing to be constantly charged and not break the bank. That's exactly what the OnePlus Pad 2 delivers. It's a fantastic all-around tablet that punches well above its weight class.

What do you get when you combine an affordable price tag with incredible performance and some pretty great accessories? I don't want to say the OnePlus Pad 2 is a "flagship killer," but it definitely gives me those kind of vibes. Especially considering that Samsung dropped the smallest model from its Galaxy Tab S10 lineup. However, in order to meet the lower price point, this comes at the cost of a few features that you might have expected.

Android fans who can’t afford an uber-premium Samsung tablet at twice the price shouldn’t be disappointed with the OnePlus Pad 2. Its attractive and bright screen, thin form factor, powerful performance and long battery life are all commendable. On the power side, we were surprisingly impressed with how smoothly the Pad 2 ran memory-intensive games—thanks largely to its 8-core Qualcomm Kryo processor and 12 gigabytes of RAM (the only system memory option for North America). To yield long battery life and deliver fast and smooth speeds when playing Genshin Impact is no easy feat. While Pad 2 falters in a couple of areas—cameras, no IP rating, and the lack of a cellular option—these may not deter all would-be consumers. The added compatibility with OnePlus phones may also be appealing to OnePlus 12 or OnePlus 12R owners. Especially with the included folio and aggressive trade-in support, OnePlus Pad 2 delivers a lot of bang for the buck.

The OnePlus Pad 2 improves everything about the first generation, but doing so has increased the price. Because of that, it’s more comparable to an iPad Air M2 or Galaxy Tab S9 than the 10th Gen iPad. However, given the faster performance, larger storage, refined accessories and larger display, you’re more than getting your money’s worth. Like its predecessor, the OnePlus Pad 2 is an exemplary Android slate. It won’t unseat the iPad Air as the best overall tablet, but if you’re looking for a distinctive device that’s ideal for reading and watching videos, you can’t go wrong with this one.

However with all that being said, there is another threat looming for tablets and that is the emerging foldable market for me that is where I will be planting my flag into moving forward as it gives me my dream two-in-one device which ticks the vast majority of the boxes for what a tablet used to do especially as I lent towards the smaller tablet like the Nexus 7 and the iPad Mini, My Pixel 9 Pro Fold is the same size as these when unfolded and is a phone size when folded. It is incredibly expensive though and if money is an important factor then a separate tablet like the OnePlus Pad 2 and high-end mid-ranger like the excellent OnePlus Nord 4 would be worth looking into.

This exceptional product has achieved the distinguished Pinnacle Selection award, a mark of unparalleled excellence for surpassing an average rating of 4.25 stars out of five. Recognized as the best in its class, it embodies the highest standards in innovation, design, and user satisfaction. Our review confirms its status as a leader, with virtually unmatched quality and performance. In my mind, the evaluation of the OnePlus Pad 2 is simple. This is the best Android tablet you can spend your money on at the moment. Especially if you own an OnePlus phone. The sharp screen, robust audio, OnePlus integrations, and Open Canvas make this the most compelling tablet, to possible laptop replacement, I’ve used outside an iPad. Even at the full retail pricing, I think the Pad 2 is more than worth it.

Look, tablets still feel like luxury items to me. Was I able to work from the OnePlus Pad 2? Yes! Could I have done more with my dedicated laptop? Also, yes. Things like Lightroom and professional photo editing are always more easily done on a dedicated PC or Mac. Tablets are ultraportable yet less capable by default. I’m not sure anyone truly needs one unless they want most of the laptop experience while saving a bit of money. If you have that money and can get the accessories, the OnePlus Pad 2 is the best Android tablet I’ve used in a long, long time. Competitor-wise, there are the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 and S9+ , or even the S9 FE series, which are closer in price. Or, much cheaper tablets that offer that pencil-on-paper feel, like the TCL TAB 10 NXTPAPER 5G that even has a cellular connection if you want it.

The OnePlus Pad 2 is an easy recommendation for those seeking a powerful entertainment and gaming tablet. Its performance was fine for productivity and content creation, and the niggles that cropped up were more of Android limitations than hardware. Having said that, the regular Apple iPad or iPad Air is a great choice for serious content creation due to the availability of creator-favourite apps (such as Procreate and DaVinci Resolve) on iPadOS.

So that’s all for my review of the new OnePlus Pad 2. And compared to last year’s OnePlus Pad, this is a definite upgrade. Particularly in terms of the performance, the display, and the speakers. I mean… that Snapdragon beast is kinda wasted on the OnePlus Pad 2 when you think about it since there isn’t much you can do on a tablet that makes use of its first-class CPU and GPU. And if all you care about is streaming videos, multitasking, drawing, or getting some light work done on a tablet, you can do a lot better for a lot less.

While Android-powered tablets still have a long way to go before they become as useful for work as Apple's iPads. With that said, the OnePlus Pad 2 is definitely a step closer in the right direction, even if it is not going to replace your laptop. That direction also happens to decrease the gap in OnePlus' product ecosystem, especially with the seamless connectivity features offered this year. Minor touchpad niggles aside, Open Canvas works beautifully. And while I'm not a huge fan of the 2-piece Smart Keyboard, it does offer better use cases over the previous keyboard accessory from OnePlus. As far as competition goes, OnePlus still offers much better hardware than the competition, with a base price of Rs. 39,999.

There's a lot to like about the OnePlus Pad 2. From the stylish and premium build to the top-notch hardware and snappy performance, At $500 (OnePlus is constantly running promotions and deals), this Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 tablet is more than capable of taking on the Galaxy Tab S9 or a 10-gen Apple iPad. The only gripe we have with this device is its weight. It's a little brick at almost 600 grams, and if you get the Smart Keyboard accessory, things pass the 1 kg threshold. And if you're used to throwing around your tablets frequently, you will feel the weight. The screen is an IPS LCD panel, and this might be a downside for some, as the Galaxy Tab lineup offers OLED screens, but you have the high 144Hz refresh rate to make up for the lack of organic light emitting diodes, so there's also that. All in all, the OnePlus Pad 2 is a very well-thought-out package at a decent price. It's hard to find a better Android tablet at this price point.

The OnePlus Pad 2 is a terrific piece of hardware, and pound-for-pound, it offers the best experience of any Android tablet in 2024. The software is a rewarding experience, albeit it could use more time in the design and test labs. The build quality is top-notch, with a fantastic set of speakers and excellent keyboard and stylus accessories. The biggest undoing of this tablet is Android, which is nowhere near as polished as iPadOS 18 and the refined app experience it offers. The benchmark isn’t too high because iPadOS is a frustrating mess in its own way. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab line races ahead due to niceties like DeX, better window management, and longer-term software support. The lack of an IP rating for dust/water protection is also hard to swallow.

The OnePlus Pad 2 is an excellent mid-range tablet, one that offers flagship-grade performance, speakers and battery life. We were impressed across the board with its build and overall experience. The optional accessories are a nice touch, too. We think it is among the best tablets you can get for €500, especially if you get it with a bunch of freebies from the OnePlus website. It is not the perfect tablet, of course. It does not offer good cameras, there is no biometric security, no cellular version, and no desktop-oriented features similar to DeX or Ready For. Plus, the Smart Keyboard does need further software improvements. But for a heavy-duty multimedia machine with a stylus - it is perfect. That is why we encourage you to consider it an option. Before deciding, though, do check out the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro as well - it is a similarly priced tablet with a better screen, cameras and larger battery, but with a previous generation chipset.

There’s no denying that the OnePlus Pad 2 is great value for money. It’s essentially a scaled-up version of the original in terms of size, performance and quality in many areas. The only real exception would be the mediocre cameras. It’s still up to you to find ways to use the Pad 2 as a work tablet, though. There have been some attempts to create a system for that, but OnePlus hasn’t gone far enough. For browsing, entertainment and gaming, it’s unquestionably a very good tablet. But certainly not the only one around this price.

OnePlus Pad is among the best mid-range Android tablets in terms of functionality. A complete all-rounder, it ticks all the boxes for a secondary portable workstation, a content watching companion and even an impressive portable gaming device with a big screen. Priced at Rs 39,999 onwards, the OnePlus Pad 2 offers a premium aesthetic, a vibrant display, impressive performance and a solid battery life. While there is not much to complain about, the tablet only comes with up to 256GB of on-board storage and does not get a microSD slot for expansion. Additionally, it also does not have the option for LTE connectivity. If big storage and SIM support is what you are looking for in a tablet, there are other options available in the market.

It might have moved into the premium segment in smartphones, but when it comes to tablets, OnePlus seems to be sticking to its OG flagship-killing roots. The brand surprised a lot of people when it released the very sleekly designed and close to flagship level specced OnePlus Pad in 2023 at a very competitive price. Some of us felt that OnePlus had decided to give its tablet a miss this year when it was not announced in the first part of the year, but the brand is not ready to leave the tablet table yet. It has released the OnePlus Pad 2, which improves almost every aspect of the OnePlus Pad and does so without a substantial increase in price. The OnePlus Pad 2 out-specs every Android tablet in its price segment by some distance and can lay claim to not just being the most powerful Android tablet out there but a formidable productivity tool when combined with a keyboard cover and a stylus.

It’s still not great for serious productivity or creation work, but it can handle light productivity chores and is a terrific midrange Android tablet for watching movies and consuming other types of entertainment. If you own a OnePlus phone, it’s even more tempting, with additional pluses such as hotspot sharing. However, compared with similar Android tablets, its $549.99 price tag is just too high. The OnePlus Pad 2 represents the best kind of year-over-year iteration. OnePlus didn’t just toss in a new processor or add a few more features. The company improved the core experience. It improved the experience to the point where using the OnePlus Pad 2 feels much different from the first tablet. I loved using the first OnePlus Pad, but there were a few things that I wished it did better. Along with improving the experience, OnePlus addressed those gripes that I had with the first generation. All in all, I enjoyed using this iteration more than the last, and that’s the sort of effect that we want. The OnePlus Pad 2 costs more than the first generation, but I think that it’s justified. If the disparity between the lengths of the pros and cons sections didn’t make it clear, there’s a lot more to like about the OnePlus Pad 2 than there is to dislike. Even my suggested improvements aren’t dire enough to overrule my recommendation. Performance is excellent, going toe-to-toe with Apple’s notoriously speedy silicon, the 3K display is crisp and bright and the all-metal build feels robust and looks slick. As tends to be the case with Android tablets, the software isn’t quite to the level of Apple’s, with fewer apps optimised for the tablet format, but what is there works very well. More to the point, if you wanted a proper laptop replacement, keyboard and stylus included, the total premium is lower than with the iPad. If you’re looking for the best iPad alternative in Android’s stable, the OnePlus Pad 2 deserves to be on your shortlist.

OnePlus, however, is offering some enticing offers with discounts, trade-in bonuses, and additional accessories depending on the market that quickly changes that balance if you are looking to buy a high-end tablet. In most cases, the OnePlus Pad 2 performance is the best available in the Android ecosystem, but despite Google’s investments in productivity features on Android, the system still lags behind iPadOS’ features and app selection for work and content creation. Overall, this is a fine tablet that really has more power than you might expect, given its hardware. OnePlus placed a top-tier processor in a device that's focused on a "fast and smooth experience" (because that's OnePlus's motto after all) and had to cut a few corners — namely the display, the cameras, and the design of the hardware. Those cuts don't degrade the performance though. If you don't want to spend a bundle on a tablet for media consumption, but don't want to cut corners on processor power — this is a good place to start. If you're not opposed to adding on the keyboard, the stylus, and/or the folio case, you've got yourself a fine Android tablet experience that'll last you a few years at least.

I think the OnePlus Pad 2 has what it takes based on my time with it, but even if our review finds a similar lack of faults, it's going to be hard to take on the incumbents of the best tablets list, even if OnePlus should once again find itself the king of Android tablets once more.

Reviewing the OnePlus Pad 2, an Android tablet taking on Samsung's Galaxy Tab S Ultra and other best tabs of 2024. With its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 performance, excellent battery life and premium specs, the OnePlus Pad 2 is certainly an enjoyable tablet. However, it's still a bit quirky and not cheap, especially if you want those accessories like the keyboard cover. I enjoyed multi-tasking with the OnePlus Pad 2, thanks to that OxygenOS setup and beefy power. Gaming is a slick and smooth experience too, with top titles like Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero running well on higher graphics settings.

I’m not yet ready to deliver my final thoughts on the OnePlus Pad 2, but I do like what I’ve seen so far. Though the OnePlus Pad 2 may look similar to the OnePlus Pad on the surface, this looks to be a worthwhile upgrade with top-end processing capabilities, unique multitasking software borrowed from the OnePlus Open and a new suite of AI tools rolling out over the next few months. And let’s not forget about that 12.1-inch, 3K, 144Hz screen, which looks ideal for both work and play.

Considering that I only had a short time with the OnePlus Pad 2, my experience was mainly focused on getting a feel for the device and identifying some software features. Regarding the design, my first impressions are that this is a well-rounded tablet. When combined with accessories like the keyboard and Stylo pen, it turns into a nice laptop-like experience. Equipped with a top-notch Snapdragon processor, a high-resolution display, and user-friendly software, the OnePlus Pad 2 enters the market with many promises. Additionally, OnePlus offers an attractive pre-order bundle that might appeal particularly to students. On the other hand, there are strong competitors in the market, and the OnePlus Pad 2 still needs to prove itself as good as its spec sheet suggests. We will bring you a full review of this device and its accessories in the coming days. What I can say now is that its performance looks promising.

The OnePlus Pad 2 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, measures 6.5mm at thickest point, and weighs just 1.4lbs. Even if you pair with the excellent keyboard case with a large trackpad, it's still ony 2.5lbs, making this one of the lightest flagship tablet around. The whole set -- tablet, keyboard, and stylus -- is also on sale during July 17-30 at OnePlus' website for US$485.

Qualcomm Adreno 750:
