Con un prezzo di partenza di 449 euro per la versione da 256GB (che diventano 549 euro per quella da 512GB), si trova schiacciato tra competitor interni ed esterni che offrono proposte più convincenti. Forse la serie Nord non è più tanto strategica o in generale le aziende fanno sempre più fatica a rendere distinguibili i prodotti in un universo di modelli probabilmente esagerato.

OnePlus Nord 5 mi ha lasciato una sensazione chiara e difficilmente fraintendibile: quella di trovarmi di fronte a uno dei migliori smartphone medio gamma oggi disponibili sul mercato. È un dispositivo che non tenta di strafare, ma che in quasi ogni ambito riesce a trovare il giusto equilibrio tra prestazioni, design, autonomia e qualità percepita. Una sintesi che raramente si ottiene in questa fascia di prezzo, e che rende il Nord 5 particolarmente competitivo. Certo, non è uno smartphone perfetto. Il design ha perso l’originalità del suo predecessore per abbracciare linee più convenzionali. L’assenza dell’Alert Slider è una ferita per i fan storici del brand. La fotocamera ultra-wide continua a rappresentare il tallone d’Achille dell’intero comparto fotografico e l'assenza del supporto eSIM nel 2025 comincia a pesare.

OnePlus Nord 5 è uno smartphone tecnicamente valido, con una costruzione curata e prestazioni soddisfacenti, ma si trova in una posizione di mercato particolarmente difficile. Il prezzo di 449€ per la versione da 256GB e oltre 549€ per quella da 512GB appare elevato, soprattutto considerando che OnePlus 13R si trova intorno ai 549€ offrendo specifiche superiori, mentre Oppo Reno 13 costa circa 100€ in meno (intorno ai 399€) con caratteristiche molto simili e persino qualche vantaggio in alcuni comparti. Se OnePlus 13R offre un processore più potente, un display LTPO superiore e un teleobiettivo 2x, Oppo Reno 13 propone una certificazione IP superiore, una batteria più capiente, supporto e-SIM e un form factor più compatto.

Il prezzo di questo OnePlus Nord 5 in versione 8/256GB è pari a 449 euro ed in versione 12/512GB, quella da me provata, arriva a 549 euro. Il giudizio non è semplice perché si tratta di uno smartphone che in effetti non ha nessun grosso difetto, equilibrato e "ok" in tutto ma non costa poco e non riesce a distinguersi con questo software così simile a Oppo/Realme e non più originale come un tempo. Magari OnePlus dovrebbe rischiare qualcosa in più e lanciarsi sul software cercando di innovare? Per ora questo Nord 5 non delude ma non esalta nemmeno.

OnePlus Nord 5 è un buon telefono, seppur sia radicalmente diverso dal modello precedente e per vari versi anche inferiore (vedi capacità della batteria e velocità di ricarica). Lo smartphone è comunque ben costruito, ha un ottimo display e due buone fotocamere da 50 megapixel. Verrà poi aggiornato a lungo e il software è molto fluido. Ma la concorrenza è molto agguerrita e a questo prezzo bisognerebbe offrire qualcosa in più, oltre ad un tasto programmabile.

Sicuramente OnePlus Nord 5 resta un device equilibrato che può soddisfare ogni esigenza di qualsiasi utente!

OnePlus Nord 5 è sì un passo in avanti rispetto al predecessore, ma non così ampio come forse ci si poteva attendere. Il SoC è cambiato ma resta un chip del 2024 e con prestazioni praticamente identiche, mentre la capacità della batteria e la velocità di carica sono diminuite, la velocità delle memorie di archiviazione è peggiorata e alcuni materiali scelti sono meno pregiati. Di converso la dissipazione del calore è migliore e soprattutto lo è per due terzi la componente fotografica, finalmente all'altezza fatta eccezione per l'insopportabile ultrawide da 8 MP. Quella di OnePlus Nord 5 rimane nel complesso una proposta valida, ma senza grandissimi spunti rispetto ai concorrenti. La discesa di prezzo potrà sicuramente renderlo più interessante nei mesi a venire.

Non perché non ci sia di meglio, ma perché per molti le prestazioni scattanti, l’AI ben integrato e lo schermo davvero ottimo sono più che abbastanza. Gli utenti più avanzati potrebbero rimpiangere un reparto fotografico più versatile, magari con uno zoom invece di una grandangolare che userete realisticamente poco. E anche la mancanza di ricarica wireless potrebbe pesare a chi è abituato. Tutto sommato, però, al prezzo di 449 euro per il modello da 8GB di RAM e 256GB di memoria non ci si può lamentare. Più difficile giustificare il salto a 549 euro per la versione 12+512GB: sopra i 500 euro ci sono alcuni telefoni con fotocamere quasi da top di gamma.

The software is clean and usable, too, so it's a pleasure to use on a daily basis. If that's what you're looking for, then the OnePlus Nord 5 comes recommended. But it doesn't stand out in the same way that the Nord 4 did with its metal design. That's a shame, because this Nord, while good, is just a little more normal.

At its starting price of Rs 31,999, the OnePlus Nord 5 is a very good value for money for those who want a phone that pretty much does it all. In many ways, it is a classic Nord, but with innards that are close to budget flagship level. It ticks most mid-segment boxes and has no deal-breaking shortcomings. Those who want brute processing power might prefer the Poco F7 or the iQOO Neo 10, but those who want an all-rounder are likely to prefer the Nord 5 for its better main and selfie cameras, and also the slightly more rounded experience from Oxygen OS. This is not to say that it is perfect. We would have loved a better secondary camera on the back and an IP68 rating, and we would be lying if we said we did not miss the stand-out metal-infused design of the Nord 4, but there is still a lot to like in the Nord 5, simply because it does everything well, from handling games to taking pictures to getting through long doomscrolling sessions.

However, it’s crucial to understand that this isn’t the target audience for the OnePlus Nord 5.Instead, the prime demographic for this phone is someone like my son, now a teenager, who values different aspects.

In isolation, the OnePlus Nord 5 is a compelling cut-price handset. You’re getting a bright, colourful display, very capable front and rear cameras, and a smooth-running version of Android that doesn’t overload you with bloat in the way many cheap smartphones do. A handful of play-friendly specs add extra gamer appeal, and it’s great to see the customisable Plus key not being reserved for the firm’s top-tier models. The move away from metal makes this much less of a design stand-out than its predecessor, though. Combined with the redesigned rear camera island, the Nord 5 really looks quite generic. You could argue the same about the Poco F7, but that has a much bigger battery, newer generation chipset, and better water resistance – for less money. If phone photography isn’t your top priority, it’s the obvious choice.

The best thing I can say about the OnePlus Nord 5 is that if I didn’t have to immediately move on to another handset and instead keep this as my daily driver for a bit longer, then I wouldn’t be displeased. I’ve loved having an epic selfie camera available in a pinch, and gaming on the larger 144Hz just feels fantastic. When layered on top of the excellent software experience that OxygenOS brings to the table, there’s a lot to like about the OnePlus Nord 5. I only wish that the phone had kept, or at least evolved, the far more exciting design of the OnePlus Nord 4, and the battery downgrades do mean that there are better options amongst the best mid-range phones when it comes to longevity. The software bugs I experienced during my time with the Nord 5 also prevented me from truly settling in with the device, even though I loved everything else that was on offer, so I can only hope that this is an issue relegated to my pre-release review unit.

However, you can find better alternatives, sometimes even at a lower price. The ultrawide camera, in particular, is disappointing. There is now a plastic frame and back, and the IP rating hasn't been improved. In the EU, the battery capacity and charging power have even been downgraded compared to last year's model. The chipset, too, isn't particularly powerful in this price range. Overall, we liked the Nord 5, but you'll be better off waiting until the price settles down in a few months' time, before you actively start considering.

As usual, I slipped my SIM into the Nord 5 to use it as my full-time smartphone. First, the camera tech has been upgraded on the hardware and software side. I found most of my test photos had a flagship-style shine, with natural looking contrast and realistic colours (mostly). Performance on the OnePlus Nord 5 may rest on a slightly older chipset (the SD 8s Gen 3), but gaming on the likes of Wuthering Waves is still a smooth experience. Unfortunately games like WW do wipe the battery quick, but otherwise the battery life is excellent. Just don't expect it to match the Poco F7 or some other recent rivals.

Ridurre la distanza delle Schede Grafiche per gli utenti che vogliono utilizzare il videogiochi. I nuovi giochi dovrebbero funzionare su queste schede, ma con riduzione dei dettagli e risoluzione mediocre.

SD 8s Gen 3: SoC (System on a Chip) di fascia alta per smartphone, presentato nel 2024. Tra le altre cose, integra un veloce Cortex-X4 "Prime Core" con una frequenza fino a 3 GHz e 4 core aggiuntivi veloci Cortex-A720 da 2,8 GHz. Per risparmiare energia, sono stati installati anche 3 core ARM Cortex-A520 aggiuntivi da 2,3 GHz. Sono integrati un modem 5G, WiFi 7 e un motore AI significativamente più veloce.
