Non è assolutamente un caso che il verdetto finale del Legion Go ci porti ad attribuirgli lo stesso identico voto assegnato al suo concorrente più diretto, ROG Ally. Le 2 macchine si posizionano infatti sul mercato in modo estremamente distinto pur appartenendo allo stesso, identico settore, quello dei PC handheld. Anche il device di Lenovo è vittima di alcuni errori di gioventù che si manifestano in tutto quello che concerne l'ottimizzazione e la pulizia di driver e software, e anche questa macchina si fa forte di una qualità costruttiva e di una potenza prestazionale che sono semplicemente eccezionali. E nel mezzo ci si infila anche una leva prezzo che tiene quasi sovrapposte le 2 offerte di prodotto se non fosse per la continua proposta di sconti e promozioni che colpiscono ormai da tempo Ally. La scelta è quindi in mano all'utilizzatore finale: se l'obiettivo è avere il prodotto più possente, versatile, pieno zeppo di feature, capace di offrire molteplici modalità di utilizzo e forte di un display di pura eccellenza, allora la scelta non può che ricadere sul Legion Go.

Ed eccoci al momento di chiudere il cerchio con alcune considerazioni che sono in realtà il riassunto di quanto detto qui sopra. In sostanza comunque, se siete attratti da questo tipo di soluzioni e state pensando di acquistarne uno sappiate che Legon Go ha dalla sua una serie di caratteristiche e punti di forza. Parliamo del display, della modalità FPS dei Joycon, della possibilità di staccare i joycon stessi, ma anche l’autonomia superiore e una migliore capacità di dissipare il calore. Dall’altro lato c’è un ingombro decisamente maggiore rispetto alla concorrenza e un software proprietario ancora molto poco maturo. Le prestazioni sono molto simili a quelle della concorrenza, così come è praticamente lo stesso anche il prezzo, ovvero 799 euro per la versione da 512 GB, che è anche l'unica disponibile in Italia (ROG Ally si trova ora a 699 euro ma è un prezzo frutto di una promo; il listino è 799 anche per l'alternativa Asus).

Not because the Nintendo Switch is a formidable force (with the new one coming in 2025), but because the challenge is always to shrink down a gaming PC into something as small as a Legion Go. I can see Lenovo has tried very hard to make a compelling handheld PC gaming device, but there are factors that hold it back. That being said, the Legion Go is the finest Windows-based portable game console, despite some trade-offs. Personally, though, I feel Lenovo has a lot of good ideas for a future version of the Go, and one can already see that in the form of FPS mode, trackpad, and detachable controllers.

That being said we really feel like you get the most bang for your buck from the Lenovo Legion Go. As mentioned the ability to turn into a tablet is a great bit of versatility and, while FPS Mode isn’t for us, it is a decent stand-in for a mouse if you don’t have one on hand. The Legion Go can also be used more like a laptop if you don’t mind packing in some wireless accessories – it does this better than the competitors thanks to the fact that you can detach the controllers making it more streamline. We enjoyed our time with the Legion Go and we were definitely sad to pack it up and send it back to the manufacturer. We have to applaud Lenovo for taking so many risks and packing in so many features, even if some of them didn’t pan out. As you can see, I have a mixed bag of feelings towards the Legion Go. Compared with the ROG Ally (see our review here), the bigger display size and longer battery life are big wins, alongside the innovative Legion Glasses for gaming immersion (but it's a separate accessory for RM1819). On the other hand, the FPS Mode is just flat-out disappointing because you have to set all the key mapping by yourself, which can be time-consuming. Windows 11 optimisation is still not there, but you can pretty much solve some issues after adjusting the game settings. The Legion Go and ROG Ally are very similar in many aspects. But it's hard to recommend the former because of its RM3999 price tag. The ROG Ally Z1 Extreme only costs RM3299, so you do the math.

Lenovo Legion Go Review: A Great Handheld Windows Gaming PC

Right now, the Legion Go has some unique advantages compared to the competition. The display has a nice 16:10 aspect ratio where all the competitors are 16:9, and the display is bigger than that of the Steam Deck OLED, ASUS ROG Ally, and even the MSI Claw. It also beats out all the Indiegogo darlings from the likes of Ayaneo and AYNTec. It's big, it's colorful, and the 144Hz refresh rate is faster than the rest. In addition, the removable controllers are a big plus, allowing gamers to set the system on a table and use those detachable controllers as a keyboard and mouse. No other handheld does anything quite like that. There are some downsides to the Legion Go, however. For starters, the experience on Windows is not great. This is something that even Microsoft itself admits needs to be better, and we hope the company is serious about improving the experience. Lenovo did all it could with Legion Space and its unified UI for game libraries, settings, and storefronts, but the Steam Deck just flat-out gets it right

Right now, the Legion Go has some unique advantages compared to the competition. The display has a nice 16:10 aspect ratio where all the competitors are 16:9, and the display is bigger than that of the Steam Deck OLED, ASUS ROG Ally, and even the MSI Claw. It also beats out all the Indiegogo darlings from the likes of Ayaneo and AYNTec. It's big, it's colorful, and the 144Hz refresh rate is faster than the rest. In addition, the removable controllers are a big plus, allowing gamers to set the system on a table and use those detachable controllers as a keyboard and mouse. No other handheld does anything quite like that. There are some downsides to the Legion Go, however. For starters, the experience on Windows is not great. This is something that even Microsoft itself admits needs to be better, and we hope the company is serious about improving the experience. Lenovo did all it could with Legion Space and its unified UI for game libraries, settings, and storefronts, but the Steam Deck just flat-out gets it right

Like the ROG Ally, the Legion Go has an impressive build and it’s remarkable that it costs as little as it does. It’s a full-fledged mini PC with the capacity for both productivity and budget gaming that you can also play on while lying on the couch, or for gaming sessions on the go. That said, these are short sessions, as the battery won’t last more than a couple of hours. Lenovo raises the bar a bit from what the ROG Ally delivers, with a better screen and very versatile controls, but that leads to frustration and headaches as much as opportunities. A lot of user feedback and interface updates are needed before it’s perfected, and I think Lenovo could have done more of that internally first before releasing this console. Not all of the hardware is top notch either – I’m not impressed with the relatively weak sound, for example.

If you made it this far, that was quite the lengthy review (thanks for hanging in there!), and for good reason, as there is a lot to digest with the Lenovo Legion Go. As I just mentioned, it’s not perfect out of the gate, but will only get better with updates down the road. However, if you’re looking for a handheld gaming device, it has a lot going for it. The most obvious is the large screen size, albeit overkill on the resolution based on the performance. Speaking of performance, it does well enough depending on the settings you have and whether you are playing a locally installed game or using Xbox Cloud Gaming or another streaming service. The same goes with battery life. With Hall Effect joysticks, joystick drift won’t be an issue and the FPS mode, while seeming a bit novel, does work well if you couple it with a keyboard. At the end of the day, the Lenovo Legion Go gaming handheld is off to a solid start.

While the bigger screen is welcome, the additional bulk and weight of the machine is sure to cause fatigue after long game sessions. Plus, tapping into the screen's sharper resolution is often not worth the frame-rate drops. At that point, for full-HD gaming sessions, we prefer the more comfortable ROG Ally, thanks to its lighter build. The Go is not without its merits, and as upscaling technology improves across AMD’s chips, we’re sure to see the shelf life of these machines extend beyond a couple of years. With that, we look forward to a revision from Lenovo if the demand for handheld gaming PCs holds or grows. It may not be a Steam Deck killer or even an Ally killer, but it’s a fine choice for mobile PC gaming if you're set on higher resolutions or unique features.

Lenovo has released the first AMD “Z2” powered gaming handheld, and while it's one of the most comfortable and attractive devices I’ve used, it’s too badly positioned to recommend to everyone. Priced at $729, the Lenovo Legion Go S has rolled out with a low-tier Z2 Go chip that’s somehow weaker than the Z1 Extreme but largely performs as well as the $799 Asus ROG Ally X. Unfortunately, it’s a hard sell when you consider Lenovo will release a $599 Windows OS version, $499 SteamOS model, and a more powerful Z2 and/or Z2 Extreme configuration later this May. The Lenovo Legion Go S can be an excellent gaming handheld for the right price and configuration that will likely be released later this year. It offers fantastic ergonomics with extra comforts like adjustable triggers and a mini trackpad.

This configuration of the Legion Go S—currently the only one available—is difficult to recommend. Though it features a comfortable ergonomic design, an excellent 8-inch display, and an easy-to-use launcher, its lackluster performance and Windows 11 headaches make the $729 asking price hard to justify. If you’re looking for an alternative Windows 11 handheld and are willing to pay a bit more, the Asus ROG Ally X ($799) is a fantastic choice. And though it costs $899, the MSI Claw 8 AI+ offers strong performance, long battery life, and an 8-inch display. If you’ve yet to jump on the Steam Deck hype train, the 1TB $649 model is the best overall handheld for playing PC games. But we shouldn’t completely dismiss the Lenovo Legion Go S, as upcoming versions could potentially make it a true Steam Deck rival.

The Legion Go S SteamOS should have been the only Go S released. I’m not even sure why we were given the Windows version, probably contracts. This handheld is much better than its Windows counterpart in software performance. The design is really nice, and I love the color. If I had one complaint about the design it would be the grips. Like the Windows version, these are just a bit shallow for me. But it doesn’t make it bad; I can tolerate it. The buttons, sticks, and D-pad were all amazing and felt good. Performance and battery life are also good; battery life could be better, but this is something we deal with on gaming handhelds. SteamOS is the star of the show here. No Windows nonsense. No Windows AI. No Windows anything.

It's unfair to compare a new device with one that's a couple of years old, but Valve's OG Steam Deck and Steam Deck OLED are starting to feel a bit old compared with shiny new devices. As the first of what I hope is a decent-size field of new SteamOS-running hardware, I think Lenovo has gotten a lot of things right that I even found too quirky on Valve's device when I first got it, though. The SteamOS model of the Lenovo Go S does dole out its own share of sadness, especially given the $830 price tag of the top-end model I tested -- the IPS, non-HDR display instead of OLED is my biggest complaint -- but the bigger screen, better controls and device layout compensate a lot.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" dalla leggenda inglese, novo (latino) per nuovo) è stata fondata nel 1984 come società cinese di commercio di computer. Nel 2004, l'azienda era il più grande produttore di laptop in Cina e, dopo aver acquisito la divisione PC di IBM nel 2005, il quarto più grande al mondo. Oltre a desktop e notebook, l'azienda produce monitor, proiettori, server, ecc. ed è specializzata nello sviluppo, produzione e commercializzazione di elettronica di consumo, personal computer, software, soluzioni aziendali e servizi correlati.

Nel 2016, l'azienda si è classificata al primo posto al mondo nelle vendite di computer. Lo deteneva ancora nel 2023 con una quota di mercato globale di circa il 23%. Importanti linee di prodotti sono Thinkpad, Legion e Ideapad.

Nel 2011 ha acquisito una partecipazione di maggioranza in Medion AG, un produttore europeo di hardware per computer. Nel 2014 è stata acquistata Motorola Mobility, che ha dato a Lenovo una spinta nel mercato degli smartphone.

Ridurre la distanza delle Schede Grafiche per gli utenti che vogliono utilizzare il videogiochi. I nuovi giochi dovrebbero funzionare su queste schede, ma con riduzione dei dettagli e risoluzione mediocre.

Scheda grafica integrata nelle APU della serie mobile Ryzen 7040 basata sull'architettura RDNA3 con 12 CUs (= 768 shaders) ed una velocità clock fino a 3 GHz.

AMD Phoenix (Zen 4):

Z1 Extreme: Processore mobile di fascia alta a 8 core, basato sull'architettura Zen 4. I core della CPU hanno un clock fino a 5,1 GHz ed eseguono 16 thread contemporaneamente. Integra un XDNA Ai-Engine. Il TDP è configurabile tra 35 e 54 Watt.

AMD Rembrandt (Zen 3+):

Z2 Go: APU mobile quad-core con quattro core Zen 3+ con clock da 3 a 4,3 GHz e adattatore grafico RDNA2 con 6 CU con clock fino a 1.800 MHz. Il TDP è specificato a 28 Watt.
