Breve prova pratica di FineTrack 2 di Ugreen: un tracker per gli appassionati di FIFA
La Coppa del Mondo FIFA è alle porte e Ugreen propone un localizzatore progettato appositamente per gli appassionati di calcio. Il FineTrack 2 è un localizzatore a forma di pallone da calcio che sfrutta la rete "Trova il mio" di Apple ed è dotato di un allarme da 110 dB.
Ho utilizzato FineTrack 2 nelle ultime settimane e sono rimasto piuttosto colpito dal dispositivo. Si accoppia facilmente con un iPhone (proprio come fanno gli altri localizzatori Trova il mio) e invia la sua posizione in modo abbastanza preciso. Non dispone di un chip compatibile con UWB, quindi la localizzazione è approssimativa. Tuttavia, è dotato di un allarme ragionevolmente forte che può essere attivato tramite il sistema "Trova il mio" di Apple.
Purtroppo, questo allarme non è così forte come pubblicizzato da Ugreen. È piuttosto forte quando si trova nelle vicinanze, ma a 20 piedi (~6 metri), il volume raggiunge i 70-75 dB. A 18 metri (~9-10 m), il livello sonoro si attesta a circa 60 dB. Tuttavia, è ancora udibile abbastanza chiaramente; il dispositivo emette una melodia che raggiunge note acute e penetranti (equivalenti a Sol#6, La#7 e Si7 su un pianoforte). In questo modo, è in grado di farsi sentire anche in una stanza piuttosto rumorosa. Riesco ancora a sentirlo dall'altra parte della stanza anche quando i miei figli stanno giocando, il mio cane abbaia e un robot aspirapolvere è in funzione. Potrebbe però essere sovrastato dal frastuono di uno stadio.
Il FineTrack 2 presenta un design stravagante, che ricorda un pallone da calcio (o da football, per i lettori non statunitensi). Su una delle superfici è presente un unico pulsante a scatto che serve ad attivare il dispositivo, a farlo emettere un segnale acustico e può essere utilizzato per l'accoppiamento. Vanta una classificazione IP68 per la resistenza all'acqua e alla polvere, quindi dovrebbe essere in grado di resistere a qualsiasi cosa gli lanci contro i tifosi della FIFA. Dispone inoltre di due luci LED verdi, sebbene queste siano piuttosto fioche. Tuttavia, sono visibili al buio.
Il principale svantaggio del design è che non è molto compatto. Trattandosi di una sfera, è difficile da infilare in oggetti come un portafoglio o una tasca. Io ho tenuto il mio attaccato allo zaino tramite il cordino incluso, e non è ancora caduto.
Nel complesso, il FineTrack 2 è un buon dispositivo di localizzazione con una forma divertente e un allarme abbastanza forte da essere udito in tutti gli ambienti, tranne quelli più affollati. Con una durata della batteria di 7 anni e un prezzo di 20 dollari (attualmente 15 dollari su Amazon), è un modo divertente per tenere traccia della propria borsa durante i Mondiali.
