Recensione Asus ROG Phone 5: il re del gaming è tornato!

ROG Phone 5 è uno smartphone pensato per gli amanti dei videogiochi e non delude affatto le attese, anzi! L’esperienza di gioco che questo dispositivo è in grado di offrire è la più completa ed immersiva che uno smartphone possa offrire e anche l’utilizzo quotidiano è un vero piacere, vista la fluidità complessiva che un processore top come lo Snapdragon 888, accompagnato da diversi GB di RAM, è in grado di offrire. Ancora non è disponibile ad uno street price più contenuto, a meno che non vi affidiate a qualche e-commerce cinese che attualmente è in grado di proporre le diverse versioni a circa un centinaio di euro in meno rispetto al prezzo di listino (ma occhio a non incappare nella versione cinese con ROM Global flashata dal venditore). Si tratta di cifre pienamente giustificate da tutto ciò che questo smartphone ha da offrire, in alcuni casi inferiori rispetto a quelle richieste per dispositivi con schede tecniche simili.

Asus prosegue la tradizione degli smartphone da gaming, Rogphone 5 è dotato di una serie di accessori e funzionalità che lo trasformano in una vera e propria console da gaming, sia dallo smartphone stesso che facendo mirroring sulla TV o su un monitor, le prestazioni sono elevatissime ed è consigliato l’uso della ventolina per evitare surriscaldamenti e battery draining, unico neo è la parte fotografica ma d’altra parte il core non sono certo gli scatti.

Per quanto riguarda il lato economico, questo ASUS ROG Phone 5 arriva sul mercato ad un prezzo di 799€ per la versione da 8GB di RAM e 128GB di storage, 899€ per la versione da 12GB di RAM e 256GB di storage ed infine di 999€ per la versione da 16GB di RAM e 256GB di storage. Viste la qualità della scheda tecnica di questo dispositivo targato ASUS e le ottime prestazioni che è in grado di offrire, direi che tali prezzi sono più che giustificati. C’è poco da dire, ASUS ROG Phone 5 è il re degli smartphone da gaming.

Rimane ottimo il prezzo di partenza, anche quest'anno pari a 799€, grazie all'articolata proposta in fatto di tagli di memoria e versioni, ma per godere del ROG Vision al posteriore, grande novità di quest'anno, bisogna spendere almeno 1.199€. A questo prezzo non c'è molto di paragonabile, per uno smartphone indubbiamente non per tutti, ma che negli anni è diventato con ampio margine il punto di riferimento assoluto nella sua categoria.

Il ROG Phone 5 non rivoluziona l’esperienza di gioco vista con il suo predecessore, del resto è impossibile pretendere cambiamenti enormi di anno in anno. Dalle cornici meglio ottimizzate al nuovo design, passando per lo Snapdragon 888 al portentoso sistema audio, il ROG Phone va a porre piccoli miglioramenti in diversi ambiti. Quest’anno manca qualcosa che differenzi ulteriormente il nuovo modello da quello precedente, già eccellente, non a caso il prezzo della variante base con 8 GB di RAM e 128 GB di memoria interna è rimasto lo stesso, di 799€. Il vero problema per ROG non è questo smartphone, ma il ROG Phone 6: come migliorare ulteriormente un prodotto già così completo? Lo scopriremo il prossimo anno, nel frattempo in campo gaming il ROG Phone rimane una sicurezza, per uno smartphone che anche con un utilizzo diverso dal gioco si conferma molto valido.

Si tratta di un prodotto eccessivo esteticamente, come anche grande e pesante, ma non potrebbe che essere così per poter accogliere tutta la tecnologia che ASUS ha inserito in questo smartphone. E non parliamo solo del grande display e della grande batteria, ma anche dell'attenzione ai dettagli, come l'audio stereo ai vertici, il jack audio e l'ottimo sistema di dissipazione. La potenza qui è tutto e come recitava un vecchio spot "è nulla senza il controllo". Ma tranquilli qui il controllo è perfettamente gestito. Gli accessori ROG completano un ecosistema molto interessante. La fotocamera è ancora sottotono: ma è un gaming phone e non è e non sarà il focus. Questo 2021 è l'anno della consacrazione: la bontà dello smartphone viene sempre più supportata da una connettività veloce in sempre più parti del paese e da nuove piattaforme di game streaming.
