Zenfone 8 Flip è un ottimo camera phone con prestazioni di tutto riguardo, molto bello e visibile il display, software semplice ma funzionale, qualità costruttiva al top, peccato il peso eccessivo, circa 230 gr, e la batteria che va in sofferenza sotto stress.

Il prezzo di 799€ è a fuoco con l'hardware e le prestazioni che offre. Il design è sicuramente ormai iconico ma limita lo spazio a disposizione delle fotocamere riducendone la qualità oltre che appesantendolo. Il software mi piace, è quasi stock, molto personalizzabile e con quelle funzioni (utili) in più che ormai si sono perse sulla maggior parte delle interfacce. Vedi registrazione chiamate, opzioni di rete e led di notifica. In conclusione, se vi servono queste impostazioni o se siete dei creativi con l'uso della FLIP CAMERA è il telefono che fa per voi, insomma.. si distingue!

Zenfone 8 Flip si presenta anche quest’anno come un peculiare smartphone dal concetto d’uso della fotocamera tutto suo, il quale offre il vantaggio di mantenere un’ottima qualità foto nei selfie ma sacrificando un possibile rating IP, inoltre occorre trattare bene il meccanismo di rotazione onde evitare rotture indesiderate. Ai possessori di Zenfone 7 o 7 Pro non consigliamo di certo l’acquisto di questa nuova iterazione dal momento che i cambiamenti si limitano ad un processore più aggiornato e a miglioramenti lato connettività. Il prezzo di listino però è in linea sia con la particolare offerta della flip camera che con la dotazione hardware da top di gamma (oltre alle varie chicche software), però… comprarlo in sconto o con qualche offerta online non è una brutta idea!

There is an issue though; it seems Asus doesn’t want the ZenFone 8 Flip to steal the spotlight from the smaller ZenFone 8. The 8 Flip features a lower display refresh rate and less RAM, and it doesn’t offer any kind of water resistance, optical image stabilisation or a 3.5mm headphone jack – all features of the standard model. The 8 Flip remains tempting, but the decision to ‘clip its wings’ means it can’t truly compete with some of the best flagships out there. It really comes down to whether you want that motorised camera or not.

The ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip is priced at RM2999, which is a pretty interesting. In practice, it is a great device, especially if you plan on shooting a lot of vlogs, where the flipping camera will come in handy. The 8K30 selfie video capability is not common at all, so that’s where the ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip has an upper hand. The software user experience of the ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip is also quite nice, with truly useful features, instead of just cramming everything and the kitchen sink into it and calling it a day. There are quite a few areas where it doesn’t quite match the competition though. It loses out on some fancier features like OIS, 120Hz refresh rate and ingress protection, all stuff that similarly priced devices are offering nowadays. I do understand why the ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip can’t offer an IP rating, but OIS and a higher refresh rate are both features offered by its own sibling, the ASUS Zenfone 8, which makes the device we are looking at here all the more lackluster as a 2021 flagship.

Upon first impressions, the Asus Zenfone 8 Flip packs a functional camera design, premium build quality, and an incredibly large battery to the table. I was quite impressed with Zen UI as a skin, and the full-screen display is just such a joy to use. Of course, this phone isn’t without its downsides.
