Il MacBook Pro 15 2019 è disponibile anche con Intel Core i9-9980HK. Tuttavia, il sistema di raffreddamento è già al limite con i processori più piccoli, quindi l'aggiornamento non vale la pena. L'aggiornamento della GPU alla Radeon Pro Vega 20 AMD invece ha più senso.

AMD Radeon Pro Vega 20:
Scheda grafica dedicata basata sull'architettura Vega (o una miscela di Polaris e Vega come nella RX Vega M GL). Integra 20 CU (1.280 shaders) e 4 GB di memoria grafica HBM2.
Ridurre la distanza delle Schede Grafiche per gli utenti che vogliono utilizzare il videogiochi. I nuovi giochi dovrebbero funzionare su queste schede, ma con riduzione dei dettagli e risoluzione mediocre.

i9-9980HK: Processore basato sull'architettura di Coffee Lake per computer portatili grandi e pesanti. Integra otto core di processore con clock a 2,4 - 5 GHz (4,2 GHz con 8 core) che supportano HyperThreading. Prodotto in un processore migliorato a 14nm (14nm++). Offre un moltiplicatore sbloccato che permette l'overclocking della CPU.
