At home outdoors. The smallest netbook of the new Eee PCs from Asus is called 1051P and is equipped with a 10.1 inch display, Intel Atom N450 processor and 6 cell battery. Aside from a battery life of over 10 hours, the ergonomics are to be convincing.

Indeed, ASUS has done a really nice job in designing the most attractive netbooks on shelves today, and the best part is that you don't have to pay more than $350 (at least at Best Buy) for those premium designs, as the company has been known to do in the past. In the end, both the 1018P and 1015PE are very solid choices, though if you're looking for a netbook that lasts longer on a charge we have to recommend the Toshiba Mini NB305 or the Eee PC 1005PE.

All in all, the Asus EEE PC 1015PED is right now on of the best mainstream 10 inchers. And by mainstream I mean devices with great features/price ratios. It is also a part of the best 10 inch netbooks list here on the site, where you can check out the other top picks available at the moment. Like you can see, this is not exactly a review of the 1015PED as this particular version is not actually available in my country yet. Still, I'm trying to get my hands on one of them and in the mean time, you can see the reviews it scored with buyers via this link.

All in all, the Asus 1015PEM manages to meet my expectations. I was expecting it to be the fastest 10 inch mini laptop and it is. And this is exactly what the Asus EEE PC 1015PEM offers. Overall, we've got a mixed opinion of the Eee PC 1015T. It's frustratingly limited with the 1GB 768MB of usable memory it ships with, and spending extra cash on a 2GB upgrade while having to throw out that 1GB stick is rather annoying. It's even more frustrating that the system gets lumbered with half a ton of software bloat on top of its already resource-heavy Windows 7 OS.

L’ASUS Eee PC 1015PW è un netbook affascinante che ha di bello soprattutto il design, molto particolare e in grado di attirare l’attenzione. Quanto alle specifiche tecniche, niente di nuovo ma si tratta di un buon prodotto. Processore dual core, lettore di schede di memoria, Bluetooth e USB nella nuova versione e un’ottima autonomia. Il resto è tutto nella media. Peccato per l’assenza della porta HDMI che lo avrebbe posizionato su un gradino leggermente più alto.

Like the MSI Wind U160DX, as it can't claim an original configuration, this 10.1 inch is counting on an unusual design and colours to set itself apart on the netbook market. While the 1015PW won't revolutionise netbooks in general or the Eee PC range, at least it won't disgrace itself either. It uses tried and tested components and adds a touch of fantasy.

The ASUS Eee PC 1015b's main attraction is its $289.99 price point; this is one of the most inexpensive netbooks on the market with Windows 7. Even at this price, however, the 1015b is tough to recommend. The number one concern is usability; it is simply not there. The small screen and its low resolution, the limited functionality of Windows 7 Starter Edition, and the exceptionally sluggish performance of the AMD C-30 processor and 1GB of RAM make computing a frustrating experience. The keyboard is easy to type on but rattles; the touchpad’s buttons are too loud; the build quality could be better; lastly, the small fan makes too much noise. Spending another $50-150 can buy much-needed improvements in all of the areas mentioned above. Unless price is a paramount concern, there are better choices out there.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. è un importante produttore taiwanese di hardware per computer con sede a Taipei, fondato nel 1989. Con il marchio Asus, l'azienda produce un'ampia gamma di prodotti, tra cui laptop, desktop, schede madri, schede grafiche, monitor, smartphone e apparecchiature di rete , sistemi completi e componenti PC per utenti finali.

Con il marchio ROG (Republic of Gamers), ASUS produce laptop da gioco conosciuti dai giocatori per le loro potenti specifiche, schede grafiche dedicate, display ad alta frequenza di aggiornamento e sistemi di raffreddamento avanzati.

Oltre ai giochi, viene offerta un'ampia gamma di notebook per esigenze e budget diversi, dagli ultrabook ultrasottili e leggeri ai versatili convertibili 2 in 1 e alle opzioni economiche. Nel 2023, Asus deteneva una quota di mercato globale del 7% del mercato dei PC.

La soddisfazione del cliente per i notebook ASUS riguarda le prestazioni, le caratteristiche e il buon rapporto prezzo-prestazioni dei notebook ASUS. Tuttavia, come con qualsiasi marca, ci sono segnalazioni occasionali di problemi come surriscaldamento, compatibilità dei driver o problemi di qualità costruttiva.

Queste schede grafiche per portatili non sono adatte al gaming. Anche se dovessero funzionare, ci sarebbero diversi errori grafici e un frame rate molto basso. Questi chips non sono affatto per i gamers! Applicazioni internet e da ufficio, invece non sono problematiche per queste GPUs.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3150: Scheda grafica integrata (memoria condivisa) nell'Intel Atom N4xx CPUs. Minimamente più veloce rispetto ad una vecchia GMA 950 e pertanto non adatta ai giochi 3D o ai video HD (solo accelerazione MPEG2).

Soltanto i giochi datasi possono essere giocati in modo fluido con questi chips grafici (se non richiedono troppe prestazioni). I cores con memoria grafica condivisa in questa categoria hanno il vantaggio delle minori emissioni di calore e della maggiore autonomia della batteria. Per ufficio, internet, image processing, e video editing queste schede grafiche sono utilizzabili senza particolari problematiche.

ATI Radeon HD 4250: Scheda grafica integrata (nel chipset RS880M) per processori AMD con supporto Avivo HD e tecnicamente è una HD 4200 con un clock superiore.

NVIDIA ION 2: ION2 è una scheda grafica GT218 per sistemi Pinetrail Atom (D510, D410, N450) con 8 o 16 shader cores in relazione alla piattaforma (10", 12", desktop). Paragonata alla ION 1, la ION 2 è una scheda grafica dedicata (collegata solo da una PCIe 1x grazie alle limitazioni Pinetrail) basata sulla GeForce 305M / 310M. Supporta la PureVideo HD per decodificare i videos HD.

ATI Radeon HD 4200:

AMD Radeon HD 6250: Scheda grafica integrata nel processore per netbook Ontario (i.e. C-50 e C-30) che sfrutta un decoder video UVD3 e non ha memoria dedicata.

Intel Atom:

La Intel Atom è una serie a 64-Bit di microprocessori (non tutti i modelli supportano 64bit) per portatili economici e piccoli (chiamati comunemente netbooks), MIDs, o UMPCs (Ultra Mibile Persona Computer). La particolarità della nuova architettura è l'esecuzione "in order" (al posto della consueta e più veloce esecuzione "out of order"). Di conseguenza il transistor count della serie Atom è abbastanza inferiore, e quindi più economico da produrre. Inoltre, il consumo di energia è molto contenuto. Le prestazioni per Megahertz sono ovviamente peggiori rispetto ai vecchi Pentium 3M (1,2 GHz alla pari di 1.6 GHz Atom).

N450: CPU Intel Atom per Netbooks con controller di memoria integrato e GPU GMA 3150. LE prestazioni del sistema dovrebbero essere solo minimamente superiori rispetto alla precedente combinazione Atom N280 / GMA 950.

N475: CPU Atom per Netbooks con controller di memoria DDR3 integrato (diversamente dall'N470 con DDR2) e GPU GMA 3150. Le prestazioni della CPU dovrebbero essere minimamente superiori all'attuate Atom Z450 da 1.86 GHz.

N550: Dual core Atom con un TDP di appena 8.5 Watt. A causa della limitata velocità clock da 1.5 GHz potrebbe essere anche più lento di una CPU Atom N465.

N570: Processore Atom dual core con un clock rate leggermente superiore rispetto all'Atom N550 e di conseguenza ancora più lento rispetto ai processori CULV.

AMD V-Series:

V105: Lenta CPU single core della AMD e rivale delle CPUs Intel Atom. Rispetto ad una Atom da 1.6 GHz, la V105 è leggermente più veloce.

AMD C-Series:

C-50: Processore Dual Core a risparmio energetico con scheda grafica integrata- Grazie alla limitata velocità clock, la CPu dovrebbe essere veloce quanto una CPU Atom single, ma offre in più la GPU integrata.

C-30: Processore single Core con una potenza limitata e scheda grafica integrata. A causa della limitata velocità clock, la CPU dovrebbe essere più lenta rispetto ad una CPU Atom single core, ma offre una GPU integrata più veloce con supporto HD video.
