Xiaomi Mi 9 è il miglior smartphone attualmente in commercio nella fascia di prezzo sotto i 500 euro. Le prestazioni offerte dall'accoppiata Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 e dai 6GB di RAM LPDDR4X sono una garanzia e superano addirittura quelle di Samsung Galaxy S10+ nei benchmark. Lo smartphone è piuttosto solido anche a livello di autonomia e di comparto fotografico, peccato per alcune sbavature a livello software che potrebbero non piacere a chi non conosce la MIUI. Per il resto, siamo sicuramente di fronte a un best buy, con un hardware potenzialmente in grado di durare molto lungo senza cali nelle prestazioni.

Attualmente lo Xiaomi Mi 9 non è un top di gamma adatto a tutti. Chi lo acquista ora, per via del prezzo di lancio invitante, deve essere consapevole che il software non è all’altezza dell’hardware. Questo significa abituarsi a piccoli problemi quotidiani che però potranno essere risolti con i futuri aggiornamenti di sistema. I compromessi non toccano assolutamente la rapidità di esecuzione delle applicazioni, la qualità del display e l’autonomia che, come avrete capito, sono le cose che più mi sono piaciute. Molto bene anche il segnale del GPS che non ha mai perso un colpo e la gestione della temperatura durante le sessioni di gioco. Xiaomi deve assolutamente lavorare sulla fotocamera poiché ha un enorme potenziale inespresso: installando la Google Camera infatti si nota subito un deciso miglioramento. Sono sicuro che nei prossimi mesi, una volta raggiunta la giusta maturità, si potranno apprezzare a pieno tutte le caratteristiche.

Il prezzo è sicuramente una bomba! Ufficiale Italia 449 euro la verisone 6/64 e 529 la versione 6/128 (praticamente obbligatoria vista la mancanza dell'espansione). Da noi non arriveranno ufficialmente l'explorer e l'SE. E' un telefono che vale quello che costa, ha ok una serie di piccoli bugghettini e scelte progettuali discutibili ma velocità top, batteria bene, parte telefonica bene. Ma è sostanzialmente un REDMI note 7 pompato. E sarà quest'ultimo, in arrivo a breve, ad essere il vero Best Buy 2019!

È quasi invisibile la fotocamera anteriore del nuovo Xiaomi Mi 9, una goccia discreta sullo schermo, un ciclope in miniatura che però ci vede benissimo: ha un sensore da 20 megapixel, per selfie di altro livello. All’opposto, tris verticale di occhi sul lato posteriore (48 megapixel la principale, 12 la seconda per lo zoom 2x, 16 megapixel la terza per il grandangolo), per dare vita a un comparto più che promettente. Anzi, che si è già dimostrato sorprendente: i test svolti dagli specialisti di DxOMark, da un decennio l’autorità in materia nel giudicare le performance fotografiche degli smartphone, hanno assegnato complessivamente al modello 107 punti. Più dell’iPhone XS Max, fermo a 105, giusto due in meno del Huawei Mate 20 Pro e P20 Pro, che detengono la vetta a pari punti, 109, con il nuovo arrivato di casa Samsung, il Galaxy S10+.

Con il Mi 9, Xiaomi ha a mio parere fatto un buon lavoro. Bello esteticamente, ha tutte le carte in regola per farsi valere nella sempre più affollata giungla di smartphone. Anche la fotocamera promette bene e la batteria da 3300mAh dovrebbe essere ben supportata da riuscire a garantire delle prestazioni non straordinarie ma nella norma.

It's hard to argue with what the Xiaomi Mi 9 offers for the price, on paper – and after a couple of hours in its company, it looks odds-on to be one of the smartphone bargains of 2019. Competition in the 'affordable flagship' space is going to be fierce, but it combines the very latest Snapdragon chip with some very powerful camera features. Its screen size and MIUI Android skin might not be for everyone, but otherwise the Mi 9 is going to be a formidable foe for the likes of OnePlus and Honor.

This is partly due to the Mi 9 being the first test device recording 4K video by default and therefore scoring very high for texture and detail, but it also puts in a very good performance in all other test categories.
