A year on and the PlayStation 5 remains just as difficult as ever to get a hold of. In an attempt to improve the situation, Sony has chartered three Boeing 747 jumbo jets, which will deliver 50 pallets of consoles each to Europe.

Sony has confirmed to The Sun that it has chartered several Boeing 747 aircraft solely to transport PlayStation 5 consoles to Europe. Each aircraft will fly 50 pallets of consoles from Seoul to London, which will then be separated into 12 articulated lorries. Apparently, each pallet is 3 metres wide, giving a sense of how many consoles Sony will pack onto each pallet.

So far, Sony has chartered three flights, scheduled for this month. However, Sony will charter another two flights for the middle of the month, bringing the pallet count to approximately 250. Presumably, Sony does not think that cargo ships could deliver enough PlayStation 5 consoles to Europe in time for Christmas.

Sony has not confirmed if it plans a similar restocking exercise in other markets, such as North America. The company has not confirmed the volume of consoles that it is flying from Seoul this month, but a Sony source informed The Sun:

Each plane can bring in 100 tonnes of equipment on almost 50 pallets. It means millions of gamers will now be smiling this Christmas.
