There’s little missing from the IdeaPad Z580. Our review unit featured an ample 750GB hard disk (although newer models will come with a 1TB HDD), two USB 3 ports, a single USB 2 port, a DVD writer, SD card reader, and D-SUB and HDMI video outputs. Only networking lets the side down, with single-band 802.11n and 10/100 Ethernet looking rather stingy. Whatever you might think of the styling, Lenovo's put together a cracking budget laptop. If you want a fast laptop for everyday tasks and simply can't afford to spend any more, the IdeaPad Z580 won't disappoint.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Z580 represents a great value thanks to its combination of good build quality, a solid keyboard and touchpad, good performance, and six hour battery life. The only areas that need improvement are the screen -- 1366x768 is low and hard to be productive with -- and speakers, which sound tinnier than expected. The fan also has a slight whine but isn't loud enough to be annoying.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Z580 is a capable multimedia laptop that combines solid construction, impressive sound and strong overall performance. At $679, this notebook is reasonably priced, though the design feels a bit chunky. Consumers for whom a multimedia-focused suite of apps is a priority will want to check out the sleeker Sony VAIO E15 ($699), but the Z580 lasts longer on a charge and has a better keyboard. Overall, the IdeaPad Z580 is a very good value.

At Rs. 64,990 (end user price), the Lenovo IdeaPad Z580 might come across as expensive. But the quad-core Core i7 processor, 8GB of RAM, 1TB hard drive and Blu-ray combo drive quite justify the heavy price tag. If Lenovo would have included a more powerful graphics processor and full HD display, this laptop would have been a killer deal. Nonetheless, if you want plenty of power for serious multitasking and casual gaming, you should consider the Z580.

The Lenovo Z580 is a stylish and reasonably well-built laptop. If you don’t want to play games or other graphically demanding duties there's less reason to spend £200 over the comparable Dell Inspiron 15R, although you do get stronger construction and Blu-ray playback.

As a moderately priced laptop for multimedia consumption, the IdeaPad Z580 shines. The warranty coverage is merely average, however. (Lenovo backs this machine with an industry-standard one-year parts-and-labor warranty, but you can buy extended warranties at the point of sale.) The size and weight of the Lenovo Z580 mean that it’s not the most portable of laptops, and will probably spend most of its time indoors. Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" dalla leggenda inglese, novo (latino) per nuovo) è stata fondata nel 1984 come società cinese di commercio di computer. Nel 2004, l'azienda era il più grande produttore di laptop in Cina e, dopo aver acquisito la divisione PC di IBM nel 2005, il quarto più grande al mondo. Oltre a desktop e notebook, l'azienda produce monitor, proiettori, server, ecc. ed è specializzata nello sviluppo, produzione e commercializzazione di elettronica di consumo, personal computer, software, soluzioni aziendali e servizi correlati.

Nel 2016, l'azienda si è classificata al primo posto al mondo nelle vendite di computer. Lo deteneva ancora nel 2023 con una quota di mercato globale di circa il 23%. Importanti linee di prodotti sono Thinkpad, Legion e Ideapad.

Nel 2011 ha acquisito una partecipazione di maggioranza in Medion AG, un produttore europeo di hardware per computer. Nel 2014 è stata acquistata Motorola Mobility, che ha dato a Lenovo una spinta nel mercato degli smartphone.

La maggior parte dei giochi attuali può essere giocata in modo fluido. Ma preparatevi ad una riduzione delle presentazioni grafiche considerando le impostazioni di dettaglio basse e la risoluzione limitata. Tuttavia, queste schede forniscono ancora abbastanza potenza per le applicazioni da ufficio e la proiezioni di video (ma non per i video HD).

Intel HD Graphics 4000: Processore grafico high end tra i modelli Ivy Bridge. Offre una differente velocità clock nei diversi modelli di CPU (da ULV a desktop quad core) e di conseguenza con prestazioni variabili.

Ridurre la distanza delle Schede Grafiche per gli utenti che vogliono utilizzare il videogiochi. I nuovi giochi dovrebbero funzionare su queste schede, ma con riduzione dei dettagli e risoluzione mediocre.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M: Più modelli basati su vari chips della generazione Fermi. Specificamente, la GT 630M esiste nelle varianti GF108/GF106/GF116, ma sono tutte essenzialmente GPUs GeForce GT 540M o 555M con un nome diverso. Esiste anche una variante GF117, realizzata su una litologia da 28nm con ridotto consumo energetico.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 635M: Di base si tratta di una GeForce GT 555M rinominata disponibile in due o più varianti con 96 o 144 shaders e memoria DDR3 o GDDR5 128 bit / 192 bit.

3210M: Veloce dual-core Ivy-Bridge-based, include una HD 4000 Graphics, e core clock 2.5 - 3.1 GHz

Intel Core i7:

3612QM: Un processore quad-core Ivy Bridge-based con clock da 2.1 GHz con supporto Turbo Boost fino a 3.1 GHz. Offre una GPU HD Graphics 4000 integrata che gira a 650-1100 MHz su un controller di memoria dual channel DDR3. La particolarità dell'i7-3612QM è il TDP da appena 35 Watt rispetto ai 45 Watt delle altre CPUs quad core Ivy Bridge (i.e. 3610QM).

Intel Core i3:

2350M: Processore Dual-core basato sull'architettura Sandy Bridge con una scheda grafica integrata ed un controller di memoria dual-channel DDR3. La CPU ha un clock da 2.3 GHz e sfrutta il Turbo Boost 2.0 solo per la scheda grafica.

3110M: Dual-core Ivy-Bridge-based, 2.4 GHz di core clock (nessun turbo), includeuna GPU HD 4000.
