At its launch, the Chromebook 11 was already a bargain at £229; now you can easily find it for £190, making it irresistible. To be sure, there are compromises, notably on speed and longevity – we'd love to see a model with a Bay Trail or Haswell processor and a longer-lasting battery. But even as it stands, the HP Chromebook 11's display, keyboard, trackpad and comfortable, lightweight design make it a joy to use. So, at the end of this review, I'm left with mixed feelings. Yes, the Chromebook 11 has beautiful styling (most definitely stolen from the mid-2000s MacBook). However, performance-wise, I'm left wanting. It's nice that the system is completely fanless and remains cool, but the sluggish webpage loading sort of diminishes the system's overall value. When you start looking at comparable systems in terms of cost, there are-at least in my opinion-many other options that are much more attractive. For instance: the Dell Venue 8 Pro comes with double the storage, is full x86-compatible, and is much more capable in terms of what the operating system can do and system can do.

All in all, I like what HP did with this 11 inch version of the chromebook. I can work around the few shortcomings of this notebook. Keep the number of running tabs in check to alleviate performance and plan for the low battery life. One option would be to get one of those 2.1A, 10K+ mAh power pack battery and take advantage of the micro USB charging port. The selling point for me about this device are, the fun, good looking, lightweight and compact design, but the real deal is the IPS screen. The chromebook that I would really fall for would be laptop based on Haswell, IPS screen with 4GB of RAM, 11in or 13in for about $350ish. How does that sounds to you?

Chrome OS still has some growing up to do, or perhaps the ecosystem around it has some bedding in to do; a task as simple as printing (directly to a Google Cloud Print-enabled printer, or via a PC on the same network running a little helper app) can be complex, for example, but for most of the computing most of us spend most of our time doing, it's actually not just on a par with a traditional PC or tablet, but is in some ways even better at it. It's a quarter of the price of even the cheapest 11-inch MacBook Air and it's far more than a quarter as lovely. If Chrome OS could work for you, buy this laptop.

Clearly to make the most of the operating system you have to be online, although you can now use Chrome OS offline in some cases too just to quieten those naysayers. The Chromebook 11 looks good, but poor performance and cheaper yet more advanced alternatives have us struggling to recommend this over other products on the market. The Chromebook is getting better, but it's still a long way from being a worthwhile investment as far as we're concerned.

It's definitely a good value, but it doesn't replace the Editors' Choice Acer C7, which offers a larger port selection and larger local storage for those not yet fully migrated to the cloud.

If you live in Google’s ecosystem and need a simple-to-use notebook, HP’s Chromebook 11a is for you. The Chromebook 11a seems perfect for what I want from a notebook — superb battery life, light and easy to travel with, and a great keyboard. This device is designed for basic computing tasks, and for Rs 21,999, I think HP is asking a fair price. I don’t mind recommending the HP Chromebook 11a to family and friends looking for an affordable notebook that is not a Windows machine. The pandemic has forced schools to go digital, and this means kids require a big enough display to focus and do minor tasks. At Rs 21,999, the HP Chromebook 11a is an excellent option for students who want an affordable laptop on which they can rely for schoolwork, including attending online classes, doing a bit of project work, or collaborative projects on Google Docs, Sheets or Slides with automatic saving of files. In my opinion, the Chromebook 11a should also appeal to teachers who need to do basic tasks like preparing for online classes.

So, is this Chromebook worth the asking price? 100% it is! With a more-sturdy build than most in this price range, a reasonable keyboard/trackpad, and long battery life, you have the makings of a very, very solid Chromebook package. If you are at all interested in this one, that tells me that overall value is what you are after, and I really think the HP Chromebook 11a delivers in that regard. Whether it acts as a secondary device around the house or a decent performer for the kids, the HP 11a deserves your attention. And after some of HP’s earlier attempts at cheap Chromebooks, I’m very glad to say that is the case this time around.

HP: Fondata nel 1939, l'azienda statunitense è un importante produttore di server e stampanti e una delle aziende IT leader a livello mondiale. Fino al 2015, la società si chiamava Hewlett-Packard Company. Dopo una scissione, la divisione computer è stata ribattezzata HP Inc.
Nel 2023, HP deteneva una quota di mercato approssimativa del 22% delle vendite globali di PC, diventando così il numero 2 dopo Lenovo.
Soltanto i giochi datasi possono essere giocati in modo fluido con questi chips grafici (se non richiedono troppe prestazioni). I cores con memoria grafica condivisa in questa categoria hanno il vantaggio delle minori emissioni di calore e della maggiore autonomia della batteria. Per ufficio, internet, image processing, e video editing queste schede grafiche sono utilizzabili senza particolari problematiche.
ARM Mali-T604 MP4:
Intel HD Graphics (Bay Trail): GPU Bay Trail SoCs integrata per tablet e notebook. Si basa sulla GPU Ivy Bridge con quattro Execution Units e supporta DirectX 11.
La maggior parte dei giochi attuali può essere giocata in modo fluido. Ma preparatevi ad una riduzione delle presentazioni grafiche considerando le impostazioni di dettaglio basse e la risoluzione limitata. Tuttavia, queste schede forniscono ancora abbastanza potenza per le applicazioni da ufficio e la proiezioni di video (ma non per i video HD).
Intel HD Graphics 400 (Braswell):
Scheda grafica integrata nei processori della serie Intel Braswell (2016 Celeron). Si basa sull'architettura Broadwell (Intel Gen8) e supporta il DirectX 11.2. In base al processore offre 12 shader cores (EU) e varie velocità clock.
Intel HD Graphics 500:
Adattatore grafico integrato low-end con supporto DirectX 12, che possiamo trovare su alcuni SoCs ULV della serie Apollo Lake.

Celeron N4020: SoC dual-core a bassa potenza della serie Gemini Lake per notebook economici. Funziona con orologi tra 1,1-2,8 GHz e integra un adattatore grafico compatibile con DirectX 12.
