It's just not. The crippling effect of that 85 W TGP is rather astonishing. The fact that it can't even keep up with Gigabyte's own cheaper models with lesser GPUs is not exactly ideal, particularly as it's such a key selling point. Now, yes, there is a more modern CPU here, optimized for AI of course (although really comparing those NPUs to a dedicated GPU on AI performance is like sewing with a broken needle: pointless), and yes, there's a higher-resolution screen here too, but is that really enough to justify the absolute confusion ensuing from this cacophony of TGP nonsense? I'm not so sure.

Gigabyte Aero X16 rappresenta una delle proposte più equilibrate nel panorama dei laptop "creator" di nuova generazione. Unisce design sobrio e costruzione solida a un hardware moderno e ben ottimizzato, con temperature sempre sotto controllo e una rumorosità contenuta anche sotto stress. Il display da 16 pollici WQXGA a 165 Hz è convincente: fluido, luminoso e con colori fedeli, perfetto tanto per chi gioca quanto per chi lavora con la grafica. Le prestazioni sono buone, ma non da top di gamma: la RTX 5060 e il Ryzen AI 7 350 offrono la potenza giusta per gestire editing, rendering e gaming in QHD, senza però puntare all'eccesso. L'autonomia è sopra la media, almeno per questo genere di dispositivi, e il caricatore da 150 W è compatto e veloce, una rarità nel segmento.

So after my time spent with the Aero X16, what’s my verdict? Honestly, it feels like a laptop that knows what it wants to be, even if it doesn’t nail everything. Gigabyte clearly built this with creators in mind, then gave it just enough GPU grunt so you can still kick back with a game or two. And that pitch works, at least most of the time. The design is probably the clearest sign of Gigabyte’s intent. This isn’t a laptop you’ll be embarrassed to pull out in a client meeting, nor is it one that screams for attention with RGB lights. The clean chassis and brushed-metal lid are a big step away from the aggressive, “gamer” styling we’ve come to expect from gaming brands – that even Gigabyte is guilty of in the past. And I like that – it makes the Aero X16 easier to fit into different settings, whether you’re working from a cafe, editing photos in the office, or squeezing in a gaming session at home.

Queste schede grafiche sono paragonabili alle entusiasmanti schede grafiche desktop, come la 9800M GT. Le schede hanno un core simile alle relative schede desktop, ma hanno un clock inferiore e spesso hanno processori con meno ombre. I giochi moderni come Age of Conan, Race Driver Grid, Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect, o Gothic 3 dovrebbero scorrere in modo fluido con dettagli elevati (Crysis dovrebbe funzionare con dettagli medio alti).
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop: Una prossima scheda grafica della famiglia Blackwell per computer portatili, che il Team Green presenterà molto probabilmente al CES 2025. Considerando che il laptop 4070 ha 4.608 shader unificati (core CUDA), il 5070 avrà molto probabilmente oltre 5.000 shader.
Queste schede grafiche dovrebbero essere in grado di far funzionare tutti i giochi attuali con un framerates fluido ma rinunciando al livello di dettaglio massimo. Specialmente i giochi impegnativi come Crysis, Age of Conan, o Mass Effect sono utilizzabili soltanto con impostazioni grafiche ridotte. I giochi meno pesanti (e più datati), come Fifa 08, Command & Conquer 3, o Battlefield 2142 possono essere giocati con livello di dettagli più alto.

AMD Strix / Gorgon Point:
Ryzen AI 7 350: Un processore relativamente potente della famiglia Strix Point che ha debuttato nell'ottobre 2024. L'APU ad architettura ibrida presenta 8 core di CPU (un mix di core Zen 5 e Zen 5c) che funzionano fino a 5,0 GHz, insieme all'adattatore grafico Radeon 880M e al motore neurale XDNA 2 di 50 TOPS. Il Secure Processor di AMD (che in poche parole è un co-processore ARM on-package) è presente a bordo, così come alcune altre caratteristiche di fascia alta, come AMD-Vi. Altre caratteristiche chiave sono PCIe 4, USB 4 e supporto RAM fino a LPDDR5x-8000, compresa la RAM ECC. L'obiettivo di potenza TDP a lungo termine può arrivare a 55 W.
Ryzen AI 9 HX 370: Un potente chip della famiglia Strix Point che dovrebbe debuttare a giugno 2024. Si dice che l'APU sia dotata di 12 core CPU, un adattatore grafico RDNA 3+ da 16 CU e un motore neurale da 45 TOPS.
