The interface is utilitarian at best - the windows, fonts and display anomalies will take you back to your days working on Windows 98. If all you need is a quick inbox check, Express Gate may be useful, though most people now will just use their smartphones.

As you could see in the review above, there are many aspects to like about the Asus U36J portable laptop. However, I do feel that buying one right now would be hasty. And here’s why: with Intel’s new SandyBridge platforms popping out, the hardware inside this one is outdated. Asus will for sure launch an updated version of this laptop soon, with that new hardware. It might be more expensive, but not by much, and it will manage to fix both performance and battery life issues, which are right now the aspects dragging down the Asus U36J. But don’t get me wrong, the U36J has the potential to be an amazing portable laptop. Just wait a bit for Asus to put some new hardware inside, what’s got right now feels so like 2010.

Somehow, if you still seem to be uncovinced to buy this, there's the Acer Aspire 3820TG notebook which is priced at 799 Euros (approx Rs. 50,000) which has very similar specs too. In conclusion, the U36J might be on the expensive side, but if you're looking at good computing speeds with a light weight and a decent battery life, you can pick this one up.

USB 3.0, una batteria di lunga durata ed HDMI fanno anch'essi parte del pacchetto. La nostra recensione rivelerà se tutto ciò è abbastanza.
Sottile e potente. Asus ha dotato di un sottile case da 19 mm il modello U36JC, il quale ha un processore Core i5-480M e due chip grafici che potrebbero insegnare ai concorrenti il significato della parola paura. USB 3.0, una batteria di lunga durata ed HDMI fanno anch'essi parte del pacchetto. La nostra recensione rivelerà se tutto ciò è abbastanza.

Despite the Asus U36S's speaker issues, this is an awesome machine. This ultraportable is attractive, slim, and light, and it has excellent battery life and good graphics. Plus, it has a bunch of little features you'll love: USB 3.0, Blu-ray Disc software, Bluetooth, and switchable graphics. Its performance isn't bad, either. Heck, if Asus could put some real speakers in this thing, it would basically be perfect.

All in all though, if it wasn’t for this matter, there would be nothing stopping me from making the U36SD an editor’s choice. It is a great looking device, solid built and with good performances and battery life, all these while offering a hard to beat price/features ratio. And there’s not much more you can ask from a fancy ultra-portable and you won’t find on this one, especially in the under $100o price range.

Yet this new model has a number of inexcusable flaws. Worst among them is the hardware. Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. è un importante produttore taiwanese di hardware per computer con sede a Taipei, fondato nel 1989. Con il marchio Asus, l'azienda produce un'ampia gamma di prodotti, tra cui laptop, desktop, schede madri, schede grafiche, monitor, smartphone e apparecchiature di rete , sistemi completi e componenti PC per utenti finali.
Con il marchio ROG (Republic of Gamers), ASUS produce laptop da gioco conosciuti dai giocatori per le loro potenti specifiche, schede grafiche dedicate, display ad alta frequenza di aggiornamento e sistemi di raffreddamento avanzati.
Oltre ai giochi, viene offerta un'ampia gamma di notebook per esigenze e budget diversi, dagli ultrabook ultrasottili e leggeri ai versatili convertibili 2 in 1 e alle opzioni economiche. Nel 2023, Asus deteneva una quota di mercato globale del 7% del mercato dei PC.
La soddisfazione del cliente per i notebook ASUS riguarda le prestazioni, le caratteristiche e il buon rapporto prezzo-prestazioni dei notebook ASUS. Tuttavia, come con qualsiasi marca, ci sono segnalazioni occasionali di problemi come surriscaldamento, compatibilità dei driver o problemi di qualità costruttiva.
Soltanto i giochi datasi possono essere giocati in modo fluido con questi chips grafici (se non richiedono troppe prestazioni). I cores con memoria grafica condivisa in questa categoria hanno il vantaggio delle minori emissioni di calore e della maggiore autonomia della batteria. Per ufficio, internet, image processing, e video editing queste schede grafiche sono utilizzabili senza particolari problematiche.
NVIDIA GeForce 310M: La GeForce 310M è il successore della GeFore G210M e si basa sullo stesso chip con un clock rate molto simile (velocità shader +30MHz a 1530MHz).
La maggior parte dei giochi attuali può essere giocata in modo fluido. Ma preparatevi ad una riduzione delle presentazioni grafiche considerando le impostazioni di dettaglio basse e la risoluzione limitata. Tuttavia, queste schede forniscono ancora abbastanza potenza per le applicazioni da ufficio e la proiezioni di video (ma non per i video HD).
NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M: Scheda grafica di fascia bassa basata sul nuovo chip GF119 con un bus di memoria di 64 Bit e supporto per GDDR5 e DDR3.

460M: L'Intel Core i5-460M è una CPU dual core di fascia alta per portatili ed ha un clock (grazie al Turbo Mode) da 2.53 a 2.8 GHz. Ogni core si basa sulla micro architettura Nehalem (Westemere). L'hyperthreading consente alla CPU Dual Core di gestire 4 threads contemporaneamente (per un miglior utilizzo della pipeline).
480M: Il Core i5-480M ha solo 3 MB di L3 Cache (rispetto alla I7-620M) ed un clock tra 2.66-2.9 GHz (Turbo Mode). Grazie all'Hyperthreading, 4 threads possono essere gestiti simultaneamente. Nel pacchetto sono incluse anche una scheda grafica integrata (GMA HD) ed un controller di memoria DDR3.
2410M: Processore dual-core basato sulla architettura Sandy Bridge con una scheda grafica integrata ed un controller di memoria dual-channel DDR3. La CPU ha un clock da 2.3 GHz (Turbo Boost 2.6-2.9 GHz) e la GPU da 650 (1200 MHz Turbo).
2430M: Processore Dual-core basato sull'architettura Sandy Bridge con una scheda grafica integrata ed un controller di memoria dual-channel DDR3. La CPU ha un clock da 2.4 GHz (Turbo Boost 2.7-3 GHz) e la GPU da 650 (1200 MHz Turbo).
2450M: Processore Dual-core basato sull'architettura Sandy Bridge con una scheda grafica integrata ed un controller di memoria dual-channel DDR3. La CPU ha un clock da 2.5 GHz (Turbo Boost 2.8-3.1 GHz) e la GPU da 650 (1300 MHz Turbo).
