ASUS ZenBook 14 OLED (2024) è oggettivamente un bel notebook, solido e sottile senza dare però la sensazione di essere fragile come avviene con alcuni modelli concorrenti dallo spessore ancora più contenuto. Nella configurazione qui provata viene venduto ad un listino ufficiale di 1.399€, cifra che è allineata sia a quanto richiesto dai concorrenti con simile configurazione hardware sia pensando alla qualità complessiva della costruzione e allo schermo OLED.

E siamo al momento di tirare le somme e direi che come sempre occorre prima di tutto parlare del prezzo. Il prezzo di listino di questo Zenbook 14 è di 1399 euro, che ovviamente non sono pochi in valore assoluto ma che, a mio parere sono comunque un prezzo corretto se prendiamo in considerazione tutto quello che abbiamo detto finora. Se poi a questo aggiungiamo che attualmente è già possibile reperirlo online ad un prezzo di circa 1150 euro, ecco che il giudizio diventa ancora più positivo. A questa cifra è infatti molto difficile trovare un prodotto che offra lo stesso ottimo display, affiancato da prestazioni bilanciate, buona autonomia, solidità costruttiva e varietà di connessioni. Insomma, anche quest'anno come per la generazione passata, Zenbook 14 OLED si appresta ad essere una delle soluzioni più interessanti all'interno della sua categoria.

Intel Core Ultra 7 provato su Asus Zenbook 14: quanto consuma e quanto va forte Meteor Lake

Asus ha fatto la sua parte, ma era anche decisamente semplice: aveva già una buonissima base su cui partire e per il nuovo modello doveva solo ottimizzare il tutto. Restano quelle che possono o essere le criticità di una macchina compatta, come la RAM saldata (l'SSD è sostituibile), ma ormai questo sembra il trend. C’è autonomia, c’è uno schermo OLED ottimo e tastiera e trackpad funzionano davvero bene: ad un notebook non si può chiedere di meglio. Meteor Lake può essere considerato un punto di partenza: sarebbe interessante valutarlo anche su altre piattaforme perché l’impressione è che Asus abbia voluto mettere un processore della serie H in una scocca dove forse stava meglio un serie U, quindi un Ultra Low Voltage. Ci saremmo aspettati qualcosa in più lato prestazioni, e sicuramente la parte CPU prodotta con il nuovo nodo Intel 4 è tra i tre aspetti quello più deludente: grafica e autonomia sono un grande passo in avanti.

I showed this laptop to a friend who uses a MacBook Pro, and he too gave it a serious thought. While Windows is a major factor when considering something other than a MacBook, it is time we admit that Windows machines are getting pretty good too. Spec for spec, feature for feature, ASUS is giving you a touchscreen laptop with a 3k OLED display, really good speakers, a solid battery life, and a durable chassis. But then as I said in the headline, it is skipping the basics. It still ships with a clunky charger and no 360-degree mode. The bottom line is if you’re someone who frequently travels, or needs a light and powerful laptop, the ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED is a good choice. It has great specs and a good display for work and multimedia consumption. You’ll just have to live with the occasional glare under direct sunlight, and maybe use a lighter third-party charger.

The last time I was this excited about a laptop, it was when ASUS launched the first iteration of the ROG Zephyrus G14, which is also when AMD beat Intel at its own game with the Ryzen 9 4900HS. Fast forward to today, and it’s clear Intel is intent on coming back with a vengeance. Granted, I really wish at least one of the USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports were located on the left side, and that ASUS didn’t skimp on Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 but hey, Wi-Fi 6E is still plenty fast. From the powerhouse Meteor Lake CPU, to the laptop’s sleek lightweight chassis, right down to the Macbook-esque battery endurance, and with a starting SRP of RM4,499. There’s also the higher-end configuration with Core Ultra 7 155H + 32GB RAM + 1TB SSD, but that one in my opinion is slightly worse off in terms of value proposition. For the price of the Core Ultra 5 model, you’re getting a lot of laptop out of the ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED (UX3405) – this laptop basically ticked every box any typical user would demand out of their machine, and for someone as picky as myself, I could hardly find any significant flaw in the entire package. If I didn’t have a particular need for a firepower-heavy laptop today, this would be my next laptop.

In fact, with its fantastic OLED screen and comfortable ergonomics, the Asus could work as a creator’s laptop or a business machine, or just about anything else bar a full-blooded gaming PC. Intel Arc 8-Cores: Scheda grafica integrata basata sull'architettura Xe LPG (simile alle GPU Arc dedicate, ma con un focus sull'efficienza). Fornisce tutti gli 8 core Xe (128 motori vettoriali Xe) e 8 unità di ray-tracing.
Queste schede grafiche dovrebbero essere in grado di far funzionare tutti i giochi attuali con un framerates fluido ma rinunciando al livello di dettaglio massimo. Specialmente i giochi impegnativi come Crysis, Age of Conan, o Mass Effect sono utilizzabili soltanto con impostazioni grafiche ridotte. I giochi meno pesanti (e più datati), come Fifa 08, Command & Conquer 3, o Battlefield 2142 possono essere giocati con livello di dettagli più alto.
