While the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus 7440 lacks the bells and whistles seen on higher-end models, it excels at being a reliable machine with some nice touches. The laptop offers on-the-go professionals a hi-res screen, decent battery life, and solid performance. Yes, the poor placement of the heat vents may disappoint some, but they're worth putting up with considering what you're getting in return. Prices for the model start at a very reasonable $1,000, a solid deal for what you're getting here. You can opt for a 2.8K display and 32GB of RAM which bumps the cost up to $1,200.

90% Dell Inspiron 14 Plus (2024) review: This is what a well-rounded machine looks like

If Dell had added another heat pipe and used the extra rear grille as an actual exhaust port to keep the CPU thermals in check, this probably would have been the rise of a new king of everyday PCs. Even without that concession, the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus is a remarkably well rounded system. In just about every category, it’s decent at worst. And in most departments, it’s better than the competition. It may not be as pretty as a ZenBook or Pavilion Plus, but it’s faster and lasts longer. And even if it’s no ThinkPad or XPS, it’s so much cheaper. Even with the Acer Swift Go 14 offering a lot of the same aspects, I’d never trade the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus’s keyboard for one from Acer. The fact that you can get a system this well rounded for $1,000 (and I’ve even seen it for $850 already) is a huge boon for PC shoppers looking for a no-nonsense, machine that’s all together excellent.

The Dell Inspiron 14 Plus 7440 is a mainstream laptop between Dell's lower-end Inspiron (non-Plus) line and the premium XPS series. The all-aluminum chassis is a step up from the plastic shells on the Inspiron line, but the overall design isn't as sleek and modern as an XPS. It also lacks the GPU upgrades offered on the XPS line, but the Intel Arc graphics, courtesy of the Core Ultra chip, are more capable than Intel's previous integrated graphics processor. The 2.2K-resolution IPS display is a bit sharper than the typical 14-inch full HD laptop display, but superior OLED panels on offer in the XPS line remain out of reach for the Inspiron 14 Plus. The 14-inch, 16:10 display makes the Inspiron 14 Plus a versatile machine, giving you enough screen space to be productive without feeling too cramped while also being compact enough for daily travel, even if it's a tad heavy for its class.

If I were reviewing the Inspiron 14 Plus a couple of years ago, I could easily recommend it. It’s well-built, very fast, and it has good battery life. What’s not to like? At $1,000, it’s a very good midrange laptop by most standards. However, it’s competing with laptops like the Zenbook 14 Q425, which boasts the same qualities, has even better battery life, and costs around the same price but uses a superior OLED display. The Inspiron also lacks an additional Thunderbolt 4 port, and its keyboard and touchpad aren’t the best. I suggest that you consider some other midrange laptops instead.

Intel Arc 8-Cores: Scheda grafica integrata basata sull'architettura Xe LPG (simile alle GPU Arc dedicate, ma con un focus sull'efficienza). Fornisce tutti gli 8 core Xe (128 motori vettoriali Xe) e 8 unità di ray-tracing.

Queste schede grafiche dovrebbero essere in grado di far funzionare tutti i giochi attuali con un framerates fluido ma rinunciando al livello di dettaglio massimo. Specialmente i giochi impegnativi come Crysis, Age of Conan, o Mass Effect sono utilizzabili soltanto con impostazioni grafiche ridotte. I giochi meno pesanti (e più datati), come Fifa 08, Command & Conquer 3, o Battlefield 2142 possono essere giocati con livello di dettagli più alto.

Ultra 7 155H: Un chip Meteor Lake di fascia alta che ha debuttato nel dicembre 2023. Questo processore Core Ultra di 1a generazione è arrivato a sostituire i chip Core di 13a generazione; ha 16 core (6 + 8 + 2) e 22 thread a disposizione. I core Performance, che sono 6, funzionano fino a 4,8 GHz, mentre i core Efficient, che sono 10 (8 core principali più 2 extra che si trovano nell'isola Low Power), funzionano fino a 3,8 GHz. La NPU AI Boost integrata offre due motori Gen 3 per l'accelerazione hardware dei carichi di lavoro AI. Il consumo energetico "minimo assicurato" di questo processore laptop è di 28 W, mentre il consumo energetico Turbo dovrebbe rimanere entro i 115 W.
