Un GX700 rivisitato. Lasciate stare il raffreddamento ad acqua del GX700 ed avrete un sistema più leggero e performante con il G701. Mentre le performance sono come ci aspettavamo per una macchina high-end gaming, il sistema soffre ancora delle varie pecche della serie gemella ROG.

Concepito per le prestazioni. Per i gamer più esigenti che trovano le prestazioni del G752 (GeForce GTX 1060 & GTX 1070) da 17 pollici insufficienti, Asus offre il G701, dotato del modello Nvidia top di gamma, la GeForce GTX 1080. Per la nostra recensione, abbiamo provato a far andare questo notebook high-end a briglie sciolte.

The system's gray-and-orange design sets it apart from the scores of laptops clad in red and black. But beyond the aesthetics, this system is kick ass, packing an overclockable 7th-generation Intel Kaby Lake processor and an Nvidia GTX 1080 GPU under its alluring chassis. It that's not enough, its pair of PCIe SSDs are some of the fastest I've encountered, and you get a lovely display with Nvidia G-Sync and 178-degree viewing angles. However, for the price, I would expect the system to have a configurable RGB keyboard like its cheaper cousins. And it would be nice if Asus could deliver louder, richer audio..

We love the combination of Core i7 CPU and GTX 1080 GPU but see no need for 64GB of expensive DDR4 memory. The dual Toshiba SSDs in RAID are superb however it is easy to argue that RAID 0 is an accident that is waiting to happen.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. è un importante produttore taiwanese di hardware per computer con sede a Taipei, fondato nel 1989. Con il marchio Asus, l'azienda produce un'ampia gamma di prodotti, tra cui laptop, desktop, schede madri, schede grafiche, monitor, smartphone e apparecchiature di rete , sistemi completi e componenti PC per utenti finali.
Con il marchio ROG (Republic of Gamers), ASUS produce laptop da gioco conosciuti dai giocatori per le loro potenti specifiche, schede grafiche dedicate, display ad alta frequenza di aggiornamento e sistemi di raffreddamento avanzati.
Oltre ai giochi, viene offerta un'ampia gamma di notebook per esigenze e budget diversi, dagli ultrabook ultrasottili e leggeri ai versatili convertibili 2 in 1 e alle opzioni economiche. Nel 2023, Asus deteneva una quota di mercato globale del 7% del mercato dei PC.
La soddisfazione del cliente per i notebook ASUS riguarda le prestazioni, le caratteristiche e il buon rapporto prezzo-prestazioni dei notebook ASUS. Tuttavia, come con qualsiasi marca, ci sono segnalazioni occasionali di problemi come surriscaldamento, compatibilità dei driver o problemi di qualità costruttiva.
Queste schede grafiche dovrebbero essere in grado di far funzionare tutti i giochi attuali con un framerates fluido ma rinunciando al livello di dettaglio massimo. Specialmente i giochi impegnativi come Crysis, Age of Conan, o Mass Effect sono utilizzabili soltanto con impostazioni grafiche ridotte. I giochi meno pesanti (e più datati), come Fifa 08, Command & Conquer 3, o Battlefield 2142 possono essere giocati con livello di dettagli più alto.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 (Laptop):
Scheda grafica per laptop overclockable basata sulla desktop GTX 980. Le performance dipendono dalla soluzione di raffreddamento e dall'alimentatore.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Mobile:
Scheda grafica Pascal based per portatili che utilizza memoria grafica GDDR5. Dovrebbe offrire prestazioni simili alla desktop GTX 1080.

6700HQ:
Processore Skylake-based quad-core per notebooks. Offre una GPU integrata HD Graphics 530 ed è realizzato in 14 nm.
Intel Kaby Lake:
i7-7820HK:
Processore quad-core per notebook basato sull'architettura Kaby Lake che gira a 2.9 - 3.9 GHz. E' il secondo modello per velocità della serie consumers H all'inizio del 2017. Il chip integra anche una GPU HD Graphics 630 con clocked da 350 - 1100 MHz ed è realizzato con processo da 14 (migliorato rispetto alla Skylake). Rispetto al Core i7-7820HQ, il 7820HK non ha features business come supporto vPro o TXT.

Normalmente i portatili con diagonale da 17” pesano di più. Il peso è un po' eccessivo per un portatile da 15” ma accettabile per dispositivi destinati ad un utilizzo stazionario.

Questo peso è tipico per portatili desktop-replacement con displays da 17” con scarso utilizzo mobile.
