Nel nuovo m17 R5, Dell punta tutto su AMD, sia per il processore (Ryzen 9 6900HX) che per la scheda grafica (Radeon RX 6850M XT). Vediamo se i componenti funzionano bene insieme in un 17 pollici per videogiocatori e se la combinazione AMD può reggere il confronto con i rivali Intel/Nvidia.

EN→ITThe Alienware m17 R5 is not an all-around great laptop if you plan to use it for productivity. It's too big and loud to take anywhere, and the disappointing battery life means you'll always have to be plugged in. Combined with a touchpad that's too close to the keyboard, I don't recommend this laptop for work. But this is a gaming laptop, and it doesn't disappoint when it comes to that task. The m17 R5 can play any game in your library, even newer GPU-intensive games, but there are some caveats. Though the 4K display is great for streaming content, don't expect to play many games at that native resolution since the internal specs aren't powerful enough to produce a consistent 60 fps in demanding games.

Scheda grafica mobile di fascia alta basata su un chip Navi 22 (nuova architettura RDNA2) e prodotta nel moderno processo a 7nm. Offre 2.560 core (40 CU) e utilizza 12 GB di memoria grafica GDDR6. Il clock di gioco è specificato a 2,463 GHz con 135-165 Watt TDP.
Queste schede grafiche dovrebbero essere in grado di far funzionare tutti i giochi attuali con un framerates fluido ma rinunciando al livello di dettaglio massimo. Specialmente i giochi impegnativi come Crysis, Age of Conan, o Mass Effect sono utilizzabili soltanto con impostazioni grafiche ridotte. I giochi meno pesanti (e più datati), come Fifa 08, Command & Conquer 3, o Battlefield 2142 possono essere giocati con livello di dettagli più alto.
