EN→ITIf you're looking for a gaming laptop that can more than happily handle demanding creative software and AAA games alike, with distinctive styling and great build quality, but can't quite stretch to the flagship gaming/creative monsters, spending around £2,000/$2,000 on the best-specced Alienware m17 R5 might make a very good investment. Do keep in mind that it's heavy and bulky, so if you're trotting around a lot at work, it might not be for you, but that big, sharp, gorgeous screen more than makes up for it for me.

It doesn’t deliver quite the graphics punch of its Intel and Nvidia-equipped cousins, but it’s fast enough to run modern games at high resolution. So, it’s a good pick to save some money and still be the envy of the gaming crowd – as long as you aren’t playing one of the games that glitch out on it.

The Alienware M17 R5 is Alienware’s AMD-flavored 17” 2022 gaming laptop with a significantly lower price tag than their Intel-based X17 R2. As ever, there’s plenty of configurable lighting, and optional CherryMX Ultra mechanical keyboard, a healthy selection of ports and your choice of a variety of high refresh rate full HD displays or a wide gamut 4K 120Hz display. It’s available with AMD Ryzen 7 6800H and Ryzen 9 6900HX processors.

The optional 4K display offers superb image quality, gaming performance is good, especially at 1080p, and the build quality and styling are absolutely top drawer. Even the battery life is rather impressive. Factor in the rather reasonable price and this burly AMD-powered package shoves many contenders forcefully out of the ring.

We wouldn't recommend the m17 (or any 17" laptop) to folks who are constantly on the go, like students or executive types, but that's really not what the system is meant for anyway. If you're the kind of person who wants "gaming desktop" performance, that's portable, and can't stand having a big box with wires going everywhere, this is the machine for you. It's every bit as fast as a high-midrange gaming desktop, and the price includes an excellent display, too. If you're considering a gaming notebook with a 17" form factor, the Alienware m17 R5 may be for you.

With the x15 and x17 representing slimmer choices among Alienware's offerings, the m17 has room to breathe as the brand's largest and most potent option. It delivers in spades and even adds impressive battery life. Some top-dollar competitors may be faster in certain areas, but the R5 succeeds as a gaming-first machine with sky-high frame rates and plenty of configuration options. Our unit's 175-watt GPU proves its worth if you're a frame-rate-first shopper. It's undeniably pricey, but not more so than its rivals, and the starting price is closer to the midrange. While the Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 and Origin EVO17-S are more-than-worthy competitors, the configuration options, style, and raw power of the Alienware m17 R5 earn it an Editors' Choice award for a big high-end gaming laptop that enthusiasts may actually buy, while the MSI GT77 retains its Editors' Choice, too, earned a few days ago, for the ultimate price-regardless dream machine.

The collaboration has lived up to the hype and did just what they set out to do, create the most powerful 17-inch AMD gaming laptop in the Alienware m15 R5. Both the AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX and Radeon RX 6850M XT GPU deliver big numbers on performance, enough to give their Intel and Nvidia-powered competitors a run for their money more often than not. And that’s with no small help from the AMD Advantage software suite designed to squeeze every bit of performance out of the system no matter the situation. The lovely 4K display, powerful speakers, ultra-low profile Cherry MX are the literal cherry on top. Oh and with that Legend 2.0 design, it’s just a stunner of a system. However, for $2,799, I definitely want a 1080p webcam and for the system to be a bit more dominant with that performance. I want to win all the time, not 80% of the exchange.

AMD Radeon RX 6850M XT:
Scheda grafica mobile di fascia alta basata su un chip Navi 22 (nuova architettura RDNA2) e prodotta nel moderno processo a 7nm. Offre 2.560 core (40 CU) e utilizza 12 GB di memoria grafica GDDR6. Il clock di gioco è specificato a 2,463 GHz con 135-165 Watt TDP.
Queste schede grafiche sono paragonabili alle entusiasmanti schede grafiche desktop, come la 9800M GT. Le schede hanno un core simile alle relative schede desktop, ma hanno un clock inferiore e spesso hanno processori con meno ombre. I giochi moderni come Age of Conan, Race Driver Grid, Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect, o Gothic 3 dovrebbero scorrere in modo fluido con dettagli elevati (Crysis dovrebbe funzionare con dettagli medio alti).

I display con dimensioni maggiori consentono risoluzioni più elevate. Quindi, i dettagli come le lettere sono più grandi. D'altro canto, il consumo energetico è inferiore negli schermi con diagonali piccole e su dispositivi più piccoli, più leggeri ed economici.

Normalmente i portatili con diagonale da 17” pesano di più. Il peso è un po' eccessivo per un portatile da 15” ma accettabile per dispositivi destinati ad un utilizzo stazionario.
Alienware: Alienware è stata fondata negli Stati Uniti nel 1996. La sede europea si trova in Irlanda. Alienware fa parte del gruppo Dell dal 2006. La gamma di prodotti si concentra principalmente su laptop e desktop da gioco, sviluppati e prodotti da Dell. Il marchio è un design leggermente futuristico con un alieno come logo.
