Difficile definire Acer Swift 16 AI con una sola etichetta. È un portatile che si propone come un rappresentante della nuova era dei laptop AI, ma che nella pratica convince più per le sue fondamenta hardware che per le velleità “intelligenti”. E va benissimo così. Il display OLED da 16 pollici è uno dei migliori che si possano trovare in questa fascia di mercato: definito, fluido, perfetto per chi lavora con i contenuti o semplicemente desidera godersi film e serie TV con colori pieni e contrasti profondi. L’autonomia, poi, è da riferimento: quasi due giorni di utilizzo reale significano molto per chi si trova spesso lontano dalla corrente, magari per viaggi di lavoro. E tutto questo senza sacrificare peso o portabilità: siamo di fronte a un 16 pollici che si trasporta come un 14.

The Acer Swift16 SF16-51 measures 35x24.5x1.5cm the last figure is at the back and it is 1cm at the front. The screen is 35x23cm with .5cm borders left and right, 1cm at the base and up to 1cm at the top, its only 1cm for the centre 7cm which contains the webcam. The viewable screen is 34x21.5cm which gives the diagonal imperial measurement of 16inches. Going around the outside starting at the back of the left side you have HDMI, USB3 and two USB 'C'. The front is clear and continuing round on the right side is a 3.5mm audio socket and finally a USB3 and two LEDs. The back is clear as the screen goes back to 180 degrees. The processor is an Intel Ultra 7 running at 2.2GHz. There is an Intel Arch graphics card with 128MB.

The comparison with the Samsung is instructive because, while the Swift 16 AI isn't as good in some key aspects, it rights some of the wrongs of the Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360. Both machines offer good all-round performance and fantastic 16-inch OLED screens housed in tasteful thin-and-light designs. But if the Samsung has the edge on battery life and premium build quality, the Swift 16 wins on usability, thanks to a better keyboard, smaller touchpad, and more thought-out ergonomics. It's simply a more comfortable laptop for everyday use. What's more, it's fantastic value, giving you the feel and speeds of a premium 16-inch laptop at a price point that's more likely to fit within an average SMB's budget.

Despite its subpar speakers, the Swift 16 AI delivers much to admire, particularly its OLED touch screen and long battery life. Paired with its Intel Core Ultra 2 V-class CPU, this laptop is well-suited to casual entertainment and light content creation. However, a compromised keyboard layout makes it less than ideal for productivity. The touted AI features also aren't that noteworthy, but this is more of a reflection on Copilot+ laptops in general. Where this Acer shines is its value, especially if it's on sale for $849.99, as it was during the review period. Even at its regular price, the Swift 16 AI punches above its weight, providing many of the features of more expensive laptops for less. You can get a sharper screen and a level of raw power more appropriate for a 16-inch laptop out of the MSI Prestige 16 AI Evo, but don't spurn this Swift if your budget is tighter.

Like its smaller incarnation, the Acer Swift 16 AI is a competent laptop for all your general computing and productivity needs. Acer is trying as hard as any OEM to justify the AI hype with features like Acer Assist. However, even all this effort does not guarantee a good AI experience. Microsoft’s Copilot+ features are still barely there in Windows 11. Beyond all the marketing, the Acer Swift 16 AI is fast enough for almost everyone with a Core Ultra 7, but I wish Acer made this laptop in a Core Ultra 9 variant. Even then, the machine’s multithreaded performance would be lacking. If you’re going to be editing video, an AMD-based machine is your best bet right now. While this laptop shares a lot with the 14-inch Acer AI PC, it looks nicer.

There’s an argument to be made for laptop that’s reasonably thin and light while still offering up a bunch of screen real estate. While some 16-inch laptops are thicker and heavier thanks to power-hungry components, others manage to be just fast enough to support the multitasking made possible by a larger display while remaining reasonably portable. The new Acer Swift AI 16 is one such laptop. It uses Intel’s latest Lunar Lake chipsets to provide reasonably fast and much more efficient performance, mated with a 16-inch OLED display. It’s also reasonably priced, making it an attractive option for road warriors who need to do more than one thing at a time.

A 1.499 euro di prezzo di partenza, lo Swift 16 AI si trova in una posizione di mercato scomoda, stretta tra due fuochi. Da un lato, senza una GPU dedicata, diventa difficile da consigliare ai creator. Un videomaker, un motion designer, un illustratore professionista ha bisogno di qualcosa di più di una grafica integrata, per quanto evoluta.

If you want a clamshell laptop that’s designed to work well with a stylus, the Acer Swift 16 AI (2026) may just be the laptop for you. But for everyone else, it’s just wrong enough to be unsatisfying. The Swift 16 AI is powerful and has solid battery life, but there are more impressive Panther Lake laptops out there. It’s got a large keyboard with a numpad, but the key travel is too shallow to be comfortable, and the oversized trackpad designed for use with a stylus makes it difficult to type on for longer than a quick email.In fact, it feels like the Swift 16 AI may have been better off going with one of the non-X Core Ultra 300 CPUs or even opting for Wildcat Lake because I struggle to see anyone dropping $1,599 or more on this particular Acer laptop.

If you want a no-frills yet excellent Windows laptop, you can pay $150 more for the Dell XPS 16. The Panther Lake Swift 16 AI is Acer’s most convincing product for some time. Those are both relatively minor complaints, though. The speaker system I can live with, the display is accurate enough for 95% of uses, and most of the bloat can be easily uninstalled. What’s left is a very fine laptop indeed for the price.

The Acer Swift 16 AI is an incredible machine with amazing performance. It will likely be less expensive than many competing Panther Lake machines with similar hardware, which makes it a good choice, especially if you can find it on sale. Intel Arc 130V: Un adattatore grafico integrato che i processori Intel Lunar Lake di fascia bassa utilizzano. Si tratta di un successore diretto dell'iGPU Arc 7; ha 7 core di architettura Xe² che funzionano fino a 1.850 MHz e 7 unità di ray tracing a disposizione. Ci aspettiamo che il 130V sia veloce quanto la Radeon 780M per ottenere frame rate giocabili nella maggior parte dei giochi 2023 e in alcuni giochi 2024 a 1080p con impostazioni grafiche basse.

Queste schede grafiche dovrebbero essere in grado di far funzionare tutti i giochi attuali con un framerates fluido ma rinunciando al livello di dettaglio massimo. Specialmente i giochi impegnativi come Crysis, Age of Conan, o Mass Effect sono utilizzabili soltanto con impostazioni grafiche ridotte. I giochi meno pesanti (e più datati), come Fifa 08, Command & Conquer 3, o Battlefield 2142 possono essere giocati con livello di dettagli più alto.

Core Ultra 5 226V: Uno dei processori più lenti della famiglia Lunar Lake. Si tratta di un SoC destinato all'uso in computer portatili e tablet di tipo più sottile, che presenta 4 nuovissimi core E e 4 core P leggermente nuovi che funzionano fino a 4,5 GHz, insieme alla nuova iGPU Arc 130V e a 16 GB di RAM LPDDR5x-8533 on-package. Sono inclusi anche un nuovo motore neurale da 40 TOPS, TB 4 e supporto SSD PCIe 5.

Core Ultra 9 288V: Il processore più veloce della famiglia Lunar Lake, secondo le numerose fughe di notizie di giugno 2024. Il 288V dovrebbe debuttare a settembre 2024; si prevede che abbia 4 core E e 4 core P che funzionano fino a 5,1 GHz, l'iGPU Arc 140V piuttosto veloce e 32 GB di RAM LPDDR5X-8533 on-die. Secondo quanto riferito, sono inclusi anche un potente motore neurale, il supporto TB 4 e PCIe 5.

Ultra X9 388H: SoC di fascia alta a 16 core della famiglia Panther Lake e modello di punta con 12 core GPU Xe3. Come per Lunar Lake, la NPU 5 integrata offre 50 TOPS e ora offre il supporto per FP8. La CPU supporta le funzioni di gestione vPro.

Ultra X7 358H: SoC di fascia alta a 16 core della famiglia Panther Lake per notebook con 12 core GPU Xe3. Come per Lunar Lake, la NPU 5 integrata offre 50 TOPS e ora offre il supporto per FP8.
