Most disappointing is the battery life, and with rivals offering up to 8 or 9 hours between charges, it’s difficult to recommend this machine as a tool to work with when away from the office. If you’re just after a netbook for the daily commute, however, and battery life or price isn’t an issue, then it’s easy to like the VAIO W. The screen is simply stunning, and the design puts most other netbooks to shame.

EN→ITSony has taken quite some time to get stuck in to the netbook market. With plenty of competition out there, an impressive showing is needed to mark yourself out from other models. A nice looker this W12, however looks aren’t everything and it’s a shame that Sony didn’t go for better components. Moreover, the 6-cell battery sticks out quite a bit, which may be problematic when carrying it around.

The higher price may be tough for some users to swallow, but it’s a premium paid for a green product and for what you get it isn’t a bad deal. Personally I couldn’t get over the keyboard issue, but if you can handle the keyboard key sizes and the other minor issues the Sony Vaio W Eco Series is a well equipped machine that provides a green computing experience.

EN→ITSony's updated VAIO W netbook changes very little from their initial model. It uses the new Intel Atom N450 processor and GMA 3150 graphics but nothing else has really changed. It now comes with a 6-cell battery standard that helps it run longer but still average for the new class of netbooks. The display stays the same and will be the biggest draw. The flaws still exist from the original release though including a high price, small keyboard and only two USB ports.

Sony: Sony Corporation è una multinazionale con sede principale in Giappone. Sony è una delle principali aziende in campo elettronico, video, comunicazione, consolles video game, e prodotti di information technology sia per consumatori che per professionisti. Il suo nome deriva da sonus, la parola Latina che significa suono. L'azienda è stata fondata nel 1946 con un altro nome, e poi rinominata nel 1958. Sony Corporation è l'unità che si occupa del settore elettronica e da parte del Gruppo Sony, che è impegnato in cinque diversi segmenti dell'elettronica, giochi, intrattenimento (films e musica), servizi finanziari ed altro. Sony è un produttore di portatili di media dimensione sulla base dei dati di mercato.
Soltanto i giochi datasi possono essere giocati in modo fluido con questi chips grafici (se non richiedono troppe prestazioni). I cores con memoria grafica condivisa in questa categoria hanno il vantaggio delle minori emissioni di calore e della maggiore autonomia della batteria. Per ufficio, internet, image processing, e video editing queste schede grafiche sono utilizzabili senza particolari problematiche.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950: Il nuovo core di grafica Intel® GMA 950 è un motore grafico intelligente e dai tempi di risposta rapidi integrato nel chipset presente sulla scheda madre. Non propriamente adatta per giocare.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3150: Scheda grafica integrata (memoria condivisa) nell'Intel Atom N4xx CPUs. Minimamente più veloce rispetto ad una vecchia GMA 950 e pertanto non adatta ai giochi 3D o ai video HD (solo accelerazione MPEG2).
Queste schede grafiche per portatili non sono adatte al gaming. Anche se dovessero funzionare, ci sarebbero diversi errori grafici e un frame rate molto basso. Questi chips non sono affatto per i gamers! Applicazioni internet e da ufficio, invece non sono problematiche per queste GPUs.

Intel Atom:
La Intel Atom è una serie a 64-Bit di microprocessori (non tutti i modelli supportano 64bit) per portatili economici e piccoli (chiamati comunemente netbooks), MIDs, o UMPCs (Ultra Mibile Persona Computer). La particolarità della nuova architettura è l'esecuzione "in order" (al posto della consueta e più veloce esecuzione "out of order"). Di conseguenza il transistor count della serie Atom è abbastanza inferiore, e quindi più economico da produrre. Inoltre, il consumo di energia è molto contenuto. Le prestazioni per Megahertz sono ovviamente peggiori rispetto ai vecchi Pentium 3M (1,2 GHz alla pari di 1.6 GHz Atom).
N280: CPU single core economico e lento, a basso consumo, per Netbook. A causa dell'esecuzione in-order, le prestazioni per MHz sono peggiori rispetto ad un processore Core Solo o ad un Celeron M. Rispetto alla N270, la N280 ha un clock minimamente superiore ed offre un maggiore FSB.
N270: CPU single core economico e lento, a basso consumo, per Netbook. A causa dell'esecuzione in-order, le prestazioni per MHz sono peggiori rispetto ad un processore Core Solo o ad un Celeron M.
N450: CPU Intel Atom per Netbooks con controller di memoria integrato e GPU GMA 3150. LE prestazioni del sistema dovrebbero essere solo minimamente superiori rispetto alla precedente combinazione Atom N280 / GMA 950.
N470: CPU Atom per Netbooks con controller di memoria e GPU GMA 3150. Le prestazioni della CPU dovrebbero essere paragonabili ad un Atom Z450 da 1.86 GHz e superiori all'N450 di circa il 5-10%.
10.1: Il netbook/subnotebook ha un formato di display abbastanza piccolo. Tuttavia di tratta di un formato comune per i netbooks. Lo svantaggio è che la lettura di testi è estenuante per gli occhi. Risoluzioni elevate difficilmente potranno essere utilizzate.

Questo subnotebook è uno dei più leggeri di tutti i portatili e può essere trasportato con estrema semplicità. Difficilmente si trovano altri modelli in questa fascia di peso.
7-9 pollici sono la norma per questa categoria di peso.
2.2 kg:
Questo portatile è più leggero rispetto alla media di tutti i notebooks. Ma è troppo pesante per essere un sub-notebooks.
13 pollici sono la norma per questa categoria di peso.
