Arriviamo quindi a tirare le conclusioni su un prodotto che chi è piaciuto e non poco. Ha tutte le carte in regola, e questo lo dico in via personale, per essere il mio smartphone principale (ed unico). Avesse la stessa versatilità dell'iPhone 16 Pro per quanto riguarda i video non ci penserei troppo a fare il cambio (lo smartphone di Apple registra in AppleLOG 4K con conversione HEVC H.265 con tutte e tre le fotocamere, giusto con un tap). L'hardware è da "uno dei migliori" fra i top di gamma "economici", quelli non Ultra da 1500€ di listino, se non di più. Il software è stato per anni il cruccio di Xiaomi ma reputo che con il passaggio a questa nuova HyperOS siano migliorate tante cose e sia diventata finalmente una interfaccia "affidabile".

Arriviamo quindi a tirare le conclusioni su un prodotto che chi è piaciuto e non poco. Ha tutte le carte in regola, e questo lo dico in via personale, per essere il mio smartphone principale (ed unico). Avesse la stessa versatilità dell'iPhone 16 Pro per quanto riguarda i video non ci penserei troppo a fare il cambio (lo smartphone di Apple registra in AppleLOG 4K con conversione HEVC H.265 con tutte e tre le fotocamere, giusto con un tap). On one hand the Xiaomi 15 is an iterative device. It looks like the Xiaomi 14 and offers much the same compact flagship phone experience. The day-to-day performance of this phone is great, there’s loads of power (even if it gets a little hot), the battery and charging is excellent and the display is great. There’s a lot of camera to explore in the Xiaomi 15 with three good lenses, but it’s not best in class across all these lenses and I’d take the Pixel 9 Pro for better telephoto performance. But the Xiaomi 15 is also curiously expensive: it’s a little more than an iPhone 16, a little more than a Samsung Galaxy S25 and more expensive than the Pixel 9. That might be a hard sell for some people.

Overall, the Xiaomi 15 is a very impressive phone, building on the success of its predecessor. There may not be a lot of changes, but the improvements do help a lot. I especially like the new bigger battery, which now makes it capable of lasting over a day without recharging. The new chipset helps with performance, whether for productivity or for playing games. While not everyone will use the AI features, it’s a nice thing to have as well. However, if you’re already using a flagship phone from 2024 or a Xiaomi 14, I don’t see the point in upgrading to the Xiaomi 15 just yet. A bigger battery and a newer chipset don’t justify upgrading.

The Xiaomi 15 has its perks – the display is bright, sharp and colour-accurate, performance is up there with the best and the cameras are just as good as last year – but the simple fact is that the Samsung Galaxy S25 is the superior compact flagship. The build is tighter and lighter, software support is more extensive, the OS is more user-friendly and battery life is better, all for a lower starting price.

Despite not having the flashy specifications or upgrades of its Ultra sibling, it is easier to recommend buying the Xiaomi 15 due to its flagship performance at a lower price. The phone makes sensible compromises to reach the competitive €999 (around $1,040). Against similarly priced phones such as the Galaxy S25 and iPhone 16, the only things that take points away from the Xiaomi 15 are the shorter software support policy and the amount of bloatware and ads. Long-time Xiaomi customers are probably used to them by now, and there are always methods to turn most of them off. For owners of the Xiaomi 14, on the other hand, the differences are mostly related to the processor and longer software support, so for them, we recommend waiting for a more substantial change. The Xiaomi 15 even got a shorter focal length on the telephoto camera (i.e. "less zoom"), without the big sensor upgrade the Ultra model got.

The Xiaomi 15 is an excellent compact flagship. It has a gorgeous OLED screen that's bright, vivid, and can dynamically switch between 1 and 120Hz. The silicon-carbon battery inside comes with an impressive capacity given the compact footprint of the device, and the 90W charging support really helps to fill up that ample battery fast. Add the Snapdragon 8 Elite to the mix, and you end up with a very robust and capable phone. Now for the downsides. The Xiaomi 15 starts at €999, and that's not exactly cheap. We're talking iPhone 16 Pro kind of money. Then there's the design—the phone looks too similar to its predecessor, and more importantly, the hardware inside is almost identical to the last model. We have a new chip, a bigger battery, and a new sensor for the telephoto camera. And that's pretty much it.

There’s a lot of great options available in the “mid-range” sector of the smartphone market, proving you don’t necessarily need to fork out huge sums of cash to get hold of devices which can take great pictures. The Xiaomi 15 here is a great case in point. Yes, it’s not on a par with the much more expensive Xiaomi 15 Ultra, but for most people, it’s likely to be more than good enough, producing excellent results across a range of situations. Personally, I also like the fact that it fits more neatly in my hand and my pocket – so if I had to choose between the two models, all things considered, I might in the end plump for this one and save the cash for something else. At its price point, it competes well with the likes of the Samsungs and iPhones of this world, offering generally better shooting specifications at a similar price.

The Xiaomi 15 is more of an iterative upgrade rather than a colossal jump forward. The notably larger battery is probably the most important change in our minds. The chipset swap to the new Snapdragon 8 Elite is nice and all, but just like last year, the Xiaomi 15 still struggles to keep it cool with prolonged loads. The camera changes are pretty minor. Last year, we did wish for autofocus on the ultrawide, but that didn't come to pass. Even so, this is one of the best and most capable camera setups you can currently get in a relatively compact phone. Honestly, apart from the lackluster cooling performance, there are very few, if any, glaring issues we can point out with the Xiaomi 15.

On one hand the Xiaomi 15 is an iterative device. It looks like the Xiaomi 14 and offers much the same compact flagship phone experience. The day-to-day performance of this phone is great, there’s loads of power (even if it gets a little hot), the battery and charging is excellent and the display is great. There’s a lot of camera to explore in the Xiaomi 15 with three good lenses, but it’s not best in class across all these lenses and I’d take the Pixel 9 Pro for better telephoto performance. But the Xiaomi 15 is also curiously expensive: it’s a little more than an iPhone 16, a little more than a Samsung Galaxy S25 and more expensive than the Pixel 9. That might be a hard sell for some people.

Overall, the Xiaomi 15 is a very impressive phone, building on the success of its predecessor. There may not be a lot of changes, but the improvements do help a lot. I especially like the new bigger battery, which now makes it capable of lasting over a day without recharging. The new chipset helps with performance, whether for productivity or for playing games. While not everyone will use the AI features, it’s a nice thing to have as well. However, if you’re already using a flagship phone from 2024 or a Xiaomi 14, I don’t see the point in upgrading to the Xiaomi 15 just yet. A bigger battery and a newer chipset don’t justify upgrading.

This time last year, I was saying that the Xiaomi 14 was neck and neck with the Samsung Galaxy S24. While the Xiaomi 15 is roughly as good as its predecessor, the relative sparsity of hardware upgrades paired with the price bump means that it’s just not as competitive now. The Xiaomi 15 has its perks – the display is bright, sharp and colour-accurate, performance is up there with the best and the cameras are just as good as last year – but the simple fact is that the Samsung Galaxy S25 is the superior compact flagship. The build is tighter and lighter, software support is more extensive, the OS is more user-friendly and battery life is better, all for a lower starting price.

The global launch event was set for the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona today, so hopefully, you caught the livestream earlier and then rushed to Neowin to check out my review. I will be covering my thoughts on the UK release, but as there is no longer any obvious regional difference for the hardware, everything mentioned here would apply to the rest of the global release, too.

Despite not having the flashy specifications or upgrades of its Ultra sibling, it is easier to recommend buying the Xiaomi 15 due to its flagship performance at a lower price. The phone makes sensible compromises to reach the competitive €999 (around $1,040). Against similarly priced phones such as the Galaxy S25 and iPhone 16, the only things that take points away from the Xiaomi 15 are the shorter software support policy and the amount of bloatware and ads. Long-time Xiaomi customers are probably used to them by now, and there are always methods to turn most of them off. For owners of the Xiaomi 14, on the other hand, the differences are mostly related to the processor and longer software support, so for them, we recommend waiting for a more substantial change. The Xiaomi 15 even got a shorter focal length on the telephoto camera (i.e. "less zoom"), without the big sensor upgrade the Ultra model got.

Add the Snapdragon 8 Elite to the mix, and you end up with a very robust and capable phone. Now for the downsides. The Xiaomi 15 starts at €999, and that's not exactly cheap. We're talking iPhone 16 Pro kind of money. Then there's the design—the phone looks too similar to its predecessor, and more importantly, the hardware inside is almost identical to the last model. We have a new chip, a bigger battery, and a new sensor for the telephoto camera. And that's pretty much it.

There’s a lot of great options available in the “mid-range” sector of the smartphone market, proving you don’t necessarily need to fork out huge sums of cash to get hold of devices which can take great pictures. The Xiaomi 15 here is a great case in point. Yes, it’s not on a par with the much more expensive Xiaomi 15 Ultra, but for most people, it’s likely to be more than good enough, producing excellent results across a range of situations. Personally, I also like the fact that it fits more neatly in my hand and my pocket – so if I had to choose between the two models, all things considered, I might in the end plump for this one and save the cash for something else. At its price point, it competes well with the likes of the Samsungs and iPhones of this world, offering generally better shooting specifications at a similar price.

Alright with this, I think I have covered most parts of my experience with the Xiaomi 15 and I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to see compact phones being such all round packages. Venendo quindi al cuore di Xiaomi 15 Ultra possiamo dirvi che nessun altro telefono in questo momento offre la stessa versatilità in ambito foto e video, sulla qualità invece c’è del margine, specialmente con un utilizzo completamente automatico del device, frangente in cui l’elaborazione software da “punta e scatta” non ci convince del tutto. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra delivered a strong performance for an ultra-premium device providing a balanced experience among all technical attributes, particularly in touch responsiveness. Apart from the occasional unintended touches, the device demonstrated excellent precision, smoothness, and responsiveness. The 15 Ultra’s readability performance showed significant improvement over the 14 Ultra, mainly because of a much higher peak brightness, which was measured at 3,065 nits compared with the 14 Ultra’s 1,356 nits. As of February 2025, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is the brightest device tested in the database. However, its contrast under sunlight was not better managed than that of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, and the screen showed much fewer details when compared with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.

In our photo tests, overall image quality was excellent, with a wide dynamic range, low noise and nice colors. However, the Xiaomi’s main camera lagged behind the best devices in some areas.

For those pre-ordering the Ultra from March 3 to 23 in Singapore, you can get the Photography Kit Legend Edition bundled and a Redmi Pad SE. At S$1,699 for the 512GB and S$1,849 for the 1TB model, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is still a great photography phone with flagship features. But I think I much prefer the Xiaomi 14 Ultra with its variable aperture that enables more exceptional shots. I'm also not a fan of what appears to be AI-generated zoomed-in shots. It has a four-camera setup with a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 200-megapixel telephoto sensor, a 50-megapixel floating telephoto sensor, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. Of course, the 15 Ultra has a regular suite of Leica styles that enhance the overall experience. This one also gets the 1-inch sensor and f/1.63 aperture. There's a 32-megapixel selfie camera. In my limited time with the device, the 15 Ultra looks like a fantastic successor to the 14 Ultra in terms of camera upgrades. But I will be able to break it down more in my review. It also runs on HyperOS 2, based on Android 15. It has a suite of AI features onboard, which I will test and detail in my review, so stay tuned.

It currently retails for 1499 EUR, which roughly converts to $1,555 USD. That's not counting the impending upcharges due to recent US tariffs. So if you want one of the best phones on the market, you'll have to pay to play. Fortunately, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is one of the easier phones for me to recommend to power users and tech enthusiasts, thanks to its capable camera system and onslaught of specs. At this point, I might even go about the rest of my MWC week using just the phone to capture product shots and videos instead of my bulkier Sony camera.

No other phone can match its epic sensor selection and characterful image processing, while the optional photography kit makes it the obvious choice for anyone who operates in focal lengths and exposure values. True, this isn’t a size zero smartphone – but it otherwise looks the part, and doesn’t really disappoint anywhere else. It has power and impactful display you’d expect of a 2025 flagship, while battery life has improved just enough over last year to edge ahead of big-name rivals like the Pixel 9 Pro XL and Galaxy S25 Ultra. It narrowly undercuts them on price when speccing the same amount of storage, too. There’s no need to spend quite so much if you’re after more of an all-rounder – most of which are still perfectly capable of taking great pics in most conditions – but none blur the lines between phone and compact camera quite like this.

The camera quality is excellent all round, and doesn’t fall into the trap of utilizing too much AI or post-image processing in a way that spoils the final image. Battery life is similarly good, and you shouldn’t have issues running out of power in the middle of your normal day. The thing I like the most about the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is the design of the SIlver Chrome edition. I’ve made no secret of my dislike for large camera bumps on phones, so the fact Xiaomi has adopted that shape to emphasize the retro camera design is pretty marvelous. I hope that’s a trend that continues, especially if Xiaomi continues its partnership with Leica in the future.There are some issues I have with the 15 Ultra, though.

Understandably, people can be a bit reluctant to move away from more familiar brands, such as Samsung, Apple or even Google, but in terms of the photography, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is pretty much the best you can get – particularly because of its one-inch type sensor, something we just don’t generally see on smartphones. As well as the excellent main sensor, the four Leica lenses do a great job across a range of different scenarios making it well-suited to general photography, macro, portraits, low light, video and probably more besides. That said, the 15 Ultra isn’t a huge revolution from the 14 Ultra. If you’ve already got last year’s model, there’s probably not quite enough here to tempt you to upgrade – and it’s a slight disappointment that you can no longer adjust the aperture of the lens sitting in front of that large, one-inch sensor.

There's still a 1-inch sensor at the back, and it continues to take breathtaking photos most of the time. Combine that with a brighter AMOLED panel and better software optimization, and the 15 Ultra is a delight to use. There are issues with overheating at times and the camera being inconsistent with HDR imagery, but on the whole, the 15 Ultra is without a doubt one of the best phones I used in 2025.

The new 200-megapixel Periscope sensor with 1/1.4-inch sensor, along with a very capable 3X 70mm, and an excellent main camera pushes this ahead of the pack.

It currently retails for 1499 EUR, which roughly converts to $1,555 USD. That's not counting the impending upcharges due to recent US tariffs. So if you want one of the best phones on the market, you'll have to pay to play. Fortunately, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is one of the easier phones for me to recommend to power users and tech enthusiasts, thanks to its capable camera system and onslaught of specs. At this point, I might even go about the rest of my MWC week using just the phone to capture product shots and videos instead of my bulkier Sony camera.

The camera quality is excellent all round, and doesn’t fall into the trap of utilizing too much AI or post-image processing in a way that spoils the final image. Battery life is similarly good, and you shouldn’t have issues running out of power in the middle of your normal day. The thing I like the most about the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is the design of the SIlver Chrome edition. I’ve made no secret of my dislike for large camera bumps on phones, so the fact Xiaomi has adopted that shape to emphasize the retro camera design is pretty marvelous. I hope that’s a trend that continues, especially if Xiaomi continues its partnership with Leica in the future.There are some issues I have with the 15 Ultra, though.

Understandably, people can be a bit reluctant to move away from more familiar brands, such as Samsung, Apple or even Google, but in terms of the photography, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is pretty much the best you can get – particularly because of its one-inch type sensor, something we just don’t generally see on smartphones. As well as the excellent main sensor, the four Leica lenses do a great job across a range of different scenarios making it well-suited to general photography, macro, portraits, low light, video and probably more besides. That said, the 15 Ultra isn’t a huge revolution from the 14 Ultra. If you’ve already got last year’s model, there’s probably not quite enough here to tempt you to upgrade – and it’s a slight disappointment that you can no longer adjust the aperture of the lens sitting in front of that large, one-inch sensor.

Xiaomi:

Ridurre la distanza delle Schede Grafiche per gli utenti che vogliono utilizzare il videogiochi. I nuovi giochi dovrebbero funzionare su queste schede, ma con riduzione dei dettagli e risoluzione mediocre.

Qualcomm Adreno 830: Unità grafica integrata nel SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite per smartphone con tre fette da 1,1 GHz ciascuna. Cache condivisa integrata da 12 MB per le tre fette. Secondo Qualcomm, è più veloce del 40% rispetto alla generazione precedente (Adreno 750).

SD 8 Elite: SoC (System on a Chip) di fascia alta per smartphone, presentato alla fine del 2024. Integra due core Oryon Gen 2 Prime veloci con una frequenza fino a 4,32 GHz e 6 core Oryon Gen 2 Performance più piccoli con una frequenza fino a 3,53 GHz.
