Xiaomi 12 Lite è uno smartphone concreto. Termine sicuramente abusato ma raramente così azzeccato. Lo smartphone non è troppo grande, è leggero ma non compromette troppo l'autonomia, anche grazie ad una ricarica super rapida. Ottimo display, ottima fotocamera principale e software fluido. Il classico medio gamma Xiaomi per tutti. Peccato per quel sensore di prossimità virtuale.

Ma chiudiamo con il prezzo: a questo giro, Xiaomi, che è sempre molto attenta al posizionamento, ha secondo me caricato un 50-100 euro di troppo sul listino. A 399 o 429 sarebbe diventato presto un best buy per via dello street price, a 499, si scontra invece con alcuni prodotti che hanno non una, non due ma un bel mazzo di carte da giocarsi. Due nomi su tutti? Nothing Phone 1, piaccia o non piaccia e Google Pixel 6A. Ma non solo, con Xiaomi 12X ormai sotto i 500 euro anche sul sito ufficiale, la concorrenza è anche e soprattutto in casa. Staremo a vedere dove porterà il fisiologico calo di prezzo che per i prodotti Xiaomi è sempre abbastanza rapido. Diciamo che sotto i 400 euro è assolutamente da tenere in considerazione!

Xiaomi 12 Lite ci riesce bene con uno schermo davvero da top di gamma, un design pieno di stile. Ma soprattutto offrendo un’esperienza completa: la fotocamera principale è di buona qualità, batteria e ricarica sono competitive, processore e software di buona fattura. Insomma, è un buono smartphone che dovreste tenere senza dubbio in considerazione nella scelta per il vostro prossimo dispositivo. Se il prezzo dovesse scendere un po’, diventa un’acquisto da consigliare a occhi chiusi.

Il suo prezzo è di 459 euro e lo ritengo troppo alto, non che il telefono vada male, anzi, ma a 299 euro sarebbe stato quasi un best buy, o comunque competitivo per via della sua maneggevolezza, camera ed autonomia. A questo prezzo gli preferirei il Redmi Note 11S, che a 200 euro non è troppo inferiore nell'usabilità quotidiana.

Xiaomi 12 Lite left me with a very pleasant impression. Throughout the testing, I had to remind myself that I was not dealing with a flagship, so I had to look for some weaknesses. The only such drawback for me was the macro camera, which, to be honest, is completely pointless in this set, you could easily do without it. As for the other aspects, the developers have calculated everything correctly. The screen has a high resolution and pleasant color reproduction, the main camera is capable of taking good pictures even at night, the front-facing camera will give a head start to most competitors, and the processor power is enough to perform almost all tasks at a high level. And the battery life is also at a high level. Would I choose the Lite version over its bigger brothers? There are pros and cons here, so I can’t give a definite answer. The one main issue is middling battery life (only a 4,300 mAh cell) but Xiaomi does include a 67W fast charging brick in the box. And one very glaring issue is no official IP rating, this one is a head-scratcher since some lower-end Xiaomi smartphones have an IP53 rating. For about € 450 it is a great smartphone and there aren’t too many other devices available at this price point. Perhaps the new Pixel 6a is something to consider, although it has a smaller and lower quality display and a plastic back compared to the 12 Lite.

The Xiaomi 12 Lite seems like a solid "lite" version of the more expensive Xiaomi 12X, vanilla 12 and 12 Pro. It maintains a relatively competitive price tag that, also makes sense in the Xiaomi 12 series while retaining some high-end features. А speedy 67W fast charging, flagship-grade OLED panel, big 108MP main sensor and boxy, catchy design make a compelling case. And camera performance is pretty solid, too. Sadly, battery life keeps us from giving the handset an excellent score, the proper ingress protection is gone, so is the microSD card slot and we are getting a bit tired of the overused 8MP ultrawide sensor. Not enough to be a deal-breaker, though. In fact, the Xiaomi 12 Lite is an easy-to-recommend 2022 solution. Just keep an open mind for some older 2021 options as they often offer better price/performance ratio or, in some cases, more versatile camera hardware. Then again, if we go by the previous Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G and 11 Lite price action, price will go down pretty soon, building an even stronger case for the 12 Lite.
