The Vivo X50 Pro will live and die by its camera. Elsewhere, this is a decent upper-mid-range phone with solid specs, slick design, and so-so software. But if you want in-camera gimbal stabilisation for videos or low light photography, this is the only game in town. Throw in the 5x optical zoom periscope, the portrait lens, and wide-angle and it’s easy to see the appeal. Still, for many this camera oomph will be overkill, so decide carefully. If you’re unlikely to make the most of it then there are plenty of other Snapdragon 765G phones that offer similar specs for less outside of photography.

But Vivo did make a few compromises. For instance, it lacks stereo speakers (a big drawback for music lovers like myself) and it isn't water resistant, which many phones of this class are. It also has a midrange processor (Snapdragon 765G) instead of the most advanced chipset available.
