LG Velvet è senza dubbio un ottimo smartphone, costruito con materiali di qualità e che risulta molto piacevole da utilizzare. Non ha una autonomia eccezionale (aspetto che mi auguro possa essere migliorato tramite aggiornamenti software) nè una fotocamera da top di gamma, ma il rapporto qualità/prezzo è notevole.

LG Velvet, in conclusione, si è dimostrato un’ottimo compagno con l’eleganza esterna ma anche buone prestazioni in qualsiasi frangente; ottima la scelta di avere già di base un’audio stereo, il jack per le cuffie e l’accessorio opzionale LG Dual Screen. Personalmente l’ho trovato molto scivoloso e dunque necessita per forza di una cover, ma è solo un piccolo dettaglio. Consigliatissimo, il suo prezzo si aggira intorno ai 649€.

LG Velvet è uno smartphone dal design molto gradevole e con linee pulite, dotato di connettività 5G ad un prezzo di 649€, IP68 e standard militari che ne garantiscono la resistenza agli urti, il display è un bel P-Oled da 6.8″, il peso è contenuto in rapporto alle dimensioni, siamo intorno ai 180gr. dotato di una tripla fotocamera di qualità, in notturna qualche attimo in più di esposizione non guasterebbe, molto bene l’audio stereo e la reattività del sistema, tra gli accessori disponibili a pagamento troviamo il comodo dual screen che ci consente di duplicare lo schermo ad esigenza e/o utilizzarlo come gamepad, batteria adeguata ad un uso “umano”, per il mio utilizzo “strong” è un po’ a rischio, nel complesso un ottimo smartphone.

A questo prezzo è difficile chiedere di più, anche perché il Velvet si differenzia moltissimo rispetto alle varie alternative sul mercato sia per il suo design interessante sia per le caratteristiche hardware inusuali per la fascia media: certificazione IP68 e ricarica wireless su tutte. LG deve però migliorare l'aspetto software che è ancora un punto dolente degli smartphone dell'azienda coreana.

Costa 649 euro e fino al 30 giugno in regalo ci sono il Dual Screen (mi piace per l'uso a casa), le cuffie true wireless (con i raggi ultravioletti nella custodia per una maggior sicurezza in termini di pulizia) e la cover ufficiale in regalo. Poi non si sa... Bello! A questo giro LG, con le promo, centra prezzo, design, equilibrio delle specifiche. Un lG che mi è piaciuto. Avrei preferito un pelo di autonomia in più ma da segnalare che il software qui non killa nessuna app come invece fanno MIUI, EMUI, Color OS. Il che si traduce in un'estrema affidabilità. Se dovessi scegliere un medio gamma lo terrei in considerazione anche solo per il colore! Bellissimo.

At R11 800, the LG Velvet 5G is pushing the top of the midrange market, still below the R20k we see for some flagships. What it has going for itself is 5G, although competition for cheaper solutions in the 5G space, such as the Huawei P40 lite 5G, will soon start crowding the market. The Velvet’s new look is impressive and the sleekness of this metal design and rounded edges will win new users for LG. That said, LG disappoints with the cameras on the Velvet, and I expected more from the brand since their previous phones were strong in this department. It's a decent smartphone that will serve its master well, but ultimately the Velvet lacks that something special to make it a fan favourite.

To put the price in perspective, the Samsung Galaxy A71 costs about $600 as well and sports similar specs, although the Velvet is more future-proof with its Snapdragon 765 processor compared to the A71’s Snapdragon 730 chipset. If you compare it to the Pixel 4a, that device has a price tag of $479, but if you’re someone who likes bigger displays, and the 5G-ready chipset, the Velvet might be the choice (there’s a Pixel 4a 5G coming that will cost $679). Both A71 and Pixel 4a sport better cameras than the Velvet, though.
