The Samsung NC110 is a very robust and good quality netbook that you can use for general computing and browsing. It is not the most powerful or aesthetically complex netbook in its price range and it does have a couple of weaknesses in performance and design. However, for just under $300, you will find that this notebook can already suffice your needs for a solid, high quality and desirable piece for your daily computing.

Although Samsung arrived late in the netbook sector, it made quite an impact when it did get there with the release of the NC10, a landmark product in its time. Although the Samsung NC110 doesn't do any better than the rest, it does at least as well. With higher battery life, it could have stood out from the crowd a bit more but, as things stand, it's still a netbook you can buy without worrying about making a bad choice.

The Samsung NC110 is a solid entry in the budget 10 inch netbook space. It’s not the most powerful mini-laptop around and it doesn’t have the highest resolution display or the longest battery life. But for under $300 you get a reasonably good keyboard, an adequate processor, quiet operation, decent speakers, and a matte display.

The six hour battery life was good as all my tests were with Wireless and Bluetooth on as well as a good screen brightness. I also used a fair bit of disc activity with various external hard disks. The recharge time (while off) was 140 minutes. I liked the matt white finish for the keyboard and more importantly the trackpad area.

At a list price of $400, the Samsung NC110-A03 would be just an average netbook with long battery life and an excellent keyboard. With street pricing as low as $320, it becomes a very reasonable netbook that offers a dual core processor at the price of many single core competitors. There are still some areas where it could be improved, including a better trackpad design and improved display with wider viewing angles.

Il nome Samsung significa "Tre stelle" in coreano e rappresenta i tre figli del fondatore dell'azienda. L'azienda nasce nel 1938 come negozio di alimentari. Con la sua controllata Samsung Electronics, fondata nel 1969, Samsung ha intrapreso la produzione di articoli elettrotecnici, concentrandosi fin dall'inizio sull'elettronica di consumo e sugli elettrodomestici. Altri rami in cui è attiva la grande società includono ingegneria meccanica, automobili (Hyundai), assicurazioni, commercio all'ingrosso, immobiliare e tempo libero. Samsung produce una vasta gamma di prodotti elettronici, inclusi smartphone, televisori, elettrodomestici e semiconduttori. La linea di smartphone Galaxy dell'azienda è una delle più popolari al mondo. Samsung è anche uno dei principali attori nel settore dei semiconduttori, producendo chip di memoria e processori per molti altri produttori di elettronica.

Queste schede grafiche per portatili non sono adatte al gaming. Anche se dovessero funzionare, ci sarebbero diversi errori grafici e un frame rate molto basso. Questi chips non sono affatto per i gamers! Applicazioni internet e da ufficio, invece non sono problematiche per queste GPUs.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3150: Scheda grafica integrata (memoria condivisa) nell'Intel Atom N4xx CPUs. Minimamente più veloce rispetto ad una vecchia GMA 950 e pertanto non adatta ai giochi 3D o ai video HD (solo accelerazione MPEG2).

Intel Atom:

La Intel Atom è una serie a 64-Bit di microprocessori (non tutti i modelli supportano 64bit) per portatili economici e piccoli (chiamati comunemente netbooks), MIDs, o UMPCs (Ultra Mibile Persona Computer). La particolarità della nuova architettura è l'esecuzione "in order" (al posto della consueta e più veloce esecuzione "out of order"). Di conseguenza il transistor count della serie Atom è abbastanza inferiore, e quindi più economico da produrre. Inoltre, il consumo di energia è molto contenuto. Le prestazioni per Megahertz sono ovviamente peggiori rispetto ai vecchi Pentium 3M (1,2 GHz alla pari di 1.6 GHz Atom).

N550: Dual core Atom con un TDP di appena 8.5 Watt. A causa della limitata velocità clock da 1.5 GHz potrebbe essere anche più lento di una CPU Atom N465.

N570: Processore Atom dual core con un clock rate leggermente superiore rispetto all'Atom N550 e di conseguenza ancora più lento rispetto ai processori CULV.
