With enough speed to be your primary computer for years to come, the ThinkPad T410s with Nvidia Optimus graphics and solid state drive raises the bar for mobile performance. And, if you can afford to attach three monitors simultaneously, this notebook can seriously boost your productivity. The 3.8-pound machine also boasts supreme comfort, plus the durability and security business users expect from a ThinkPad. Just make sure you invest in the three-cell battery, which adds a couple of hours of juice while bringing the price of this portable powerhouse to a steep but reasonable $1,899. While we prefer the Sony VAIO Z in this weight class because it offers an even higher resolution 1600 x 900 display (which sits lower for easier airline travel) and backlit keyboard, the T410s is a formidable business machine that will plow through your to-do list like nobody's business.

Lenovo T410s 14-in Core i5 Optimus Notebook Review

The ThinkPad T410s offers outstanding performance. It is, along with the Sony Vaio Z, a lesson in the benefits of solid state hard drives. While the Core i5 processor in the ThinkPad T410s is quick, the most impressive performance numbers coming from this laptop are achieved because it equips a solid state drive instead of a normal mechanical unit. Unfortunately, the ThinkPad T410s has a major flaw – battery life. The problem is not that the laptop is inefficient. Instead, the problem is size. The slim six-cell battery that helps this laptop maintain its thin frame isn’t large enough to provide great battery life. You can boost the battery life of the ThinkPad T410s by purchasing an optional 3-cell Ultrabay battery, but that option will set you back another $120 on top of the laptop’s nearly $1700 MSRP. If this battery life issue was addressed, the ThinkPad T410s would likely have come out of this review earning an Editor’s Choice award. It scores highly in every other area. Normally poor battery life would not weigh so heavily in a review, but the T410s is a $1700 ultraportable. Laptops in this price range have little room for error, as other well engineered competitors are ready to knock you down and steal your lunch. The T410s, although a nice laptop, can’t compete with better options such as the Sony Vaio Z and Apple MacBook Pro.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" dalla leggenda inglese, novo (latino) per nuovo) è stata fondata nel 1984 come società cinese di commercio di computer. Nel 2004, l'azienda era il più grande produttore di laptop in Cina e, dopo aver acquisito la divisione PC di IBM nel 2005, il quarto più grande al mondo. Oltre a desktop e notebook, l'azienda produce monitor, proiettori, server, ecc. ed è specializzata nello sviluppo, produzione e commercializzazione di elettronica di consumo, personal computer, software, soluzioni aziendali e servizi correlati.

Nel 2016, l'azienda si è classificata al primo posto al mondo nelle vendite di computer. Lo deteneva ancora nel 2023 con una quota di mercato globale di circa il 23%. Importanti linee di prodotti sono Thinkpad, Legion e Ideapad.

Nel 2011 ha acquisito una partecipazione di maggioranza in Medion AG, un produttore europeo di hardware per computer. Nel 2014 è stata acquistata Motorola Mobility, che ha dato a Lenovo una spinta nel mercato degli smartphone.

Soltanto i giochi datasi possono essere giocati in modo fluido con questi chips grafici (se non richiedono troppe prestazioni). I cores con memoria grafica condivisa in questa categoria hanno il vantaggio delle minori emissioni di calore e della maggiore autonomia della batteria. Per ufficio, internet, image processing, e video editing queste schede grafiche sono utilizzabili senza particolari problematiche.

NVIDIA NVS 3100M: Scheda grafica per il business che dovrebbe essere basata sul core GT218 (i.e. GeForce 305 / 310M) ma con drivers che sono ottimizzati per la stabilità e la compatibilità con le applicazioni business).

580M: Il Core i5-580M ha solo 3 MB di L3 Cache (rispetto all'I7-620M) ed un clock tra 2.67-3.33 GHz (Turbo Mode). Grazie all'Hyperthreading, 4 threads possono essere processati simultaneamente. Nel pacchetto sono incluse una scheda grafica integrata (GMA HD) ed un controller di memoria DDR3.

520M: Il Core i5-520M ha solo 3 MB di L3 Cache (rispetto alla I7-640M) ed un clock tra 2.4-2.93 GHz (Turbo Mode). Grazie all'Hyperthreading, possono essere processati 4 threads contemporaneamente. Nel pacchetto è inclusa anche una scheda grafica (GMA HD 3150) ed un controller memoria DDR3.
